I knew it wouldn't take long for the 'Change' message to be repealed or redefined by the Obama camp.

It all started Tuesday night when Obama gave his speech in Grant Park and said, “we may not get there in one term and we may not get their in eight years, but we will start to build a better country.’ Almost as if he were Moses knowing he was not going to make it to the Promised Land.

Yesterday, Nazi Pelosi held a press conference warning the American public or maybe the Obama camp, that Obama’s promises would ‘take some time’ (said in Bud’s best Michael Savage voice).

Today, I turned on the local Fox Affiliate news cast and they were asking viewers if the expectations for this new administration set to high? The news casters appeared to be setting the stage for an apology (defense) of the Obama administration not being able to deliver everything that was promised in the campaign.

But now starts the Cabinet building process. We are looking at a lot of former Clinton aides and Cabinet members.Rahm ‘Rahmbo’ Emanuel, former Clinton Aide and has been tapped as Obama’s Chief of Staff. For anyone that doesn’t know Emanuel this guy is a creep far beyond Karl Rove. http://www.rollingstone.com/po...orcer/Bill Richardson’s name keeps being thrown out there for some Cabinet positions. Richardson was the Secretary of the Department of Energy and the Ambassador to the UN under the Clinton administration. Don’t have much bad things to say about Richardson, I probably would have voted for him in the Democrat Primary. John Podesta, Obama’s Transition Co-chair was President Clinton's chief of staff.

But my point still stands. Obama promised a change in the mentality of Washington. Yet he has gone back to the old Clintonites. If I were Hillary right now, I would be sick. First being thrown under the bus and told they were the old Democrat Party and now her husband’s staff are being tapped for the new Obama Administration.

Guys don’t give that **** that the reality vs. campaign promises blah, blah, blah. I knew Obama promised everything to everyone. And I knew that there would be no way in hell he could deliver 100 percent of it. That is not the point. The point is that Obama has promised ‘Change’ in the mentality in Washington. But will deliver the Status Quo of empty promises of things not delivered.

I will say this, the Campaign slogan "Change" is now dead. Because Obama will be the incombent in 2012.

I'm glad to see Emanual in the CoS position.

I'd rather see him there than in elected office.

He's a political street fighter, not a policy guy, let him do what he's best at.

So far, he has maintained the status quo in that he ran his campaign just like anyone else. There were many false and misleading statements made about himself and McCain, it was just the demeanor he used that made it seem nicer than McCain. So I guess we'll see where he takes us, I just hope it isn't too far left to the point where it'll be hard to return and remove programs.

If he wanted to promote change to America, run a campaign based completely on real facts, whole truths, and disclosures on things such as assumptions for statistics. If I ran for office, that's the only way I would run. Why mislead people to vote for you because eventually they will feel misled.

Because they'll vote for you and get you into the Washington High Society....that's all that matters to most people - themselves. Then they'll feed you some more bs to get into the second term, and its smooth sailing after that...

GW Bush surrounded himself with old GOP allies. If Barack does the Democratic equivalent, we'll end up with the same old stuff.

Rahm is in absolutely no subtle way a partisan a-hole, in the worst, most vocally violent way possible.

Well, I don't want to paint an overly rosy picture of the guy.

He is indeed, as Jesda pointed out a "partisan a-hole".

That said, in regards to his policy stances, he is very much a centrist. He has long been on record as supporting the sort of incremental policy improvement championed by the Clintons.

He and Karl Rove are very much equals in regards to being willing to stoop to any level to push their agenda, but I guess the reason Rahm is less off-putting to me is that his agenda is (just by happenstance) considerably less extreme.

Obama is actually well to the left of Rahm Emanuel, politically speaking.

But yeah, I'd rather have him as CoS than as Speaker, where he would have assuredly otherwise ended up.

Sorry about that Howie, not sure how the Spellchecker in MSWord took Nancy and replaced it with Nazi?

And I will thank my dad (US Army) for you and my Uncle (US Navy) and my father in law (US Army) as well if you don't mind. All fought in Vietnam from 1967-1971.

In my mind an example would be someone like David Duke. Also watching old news clips of Black Americans being attacked by dogs for marching across a bridge with whites cheering. They were the Nazi's in the 1960's and fortunately many of them are are either dying or going back in the closet?I don't know about where you live but up here bias crime offenders are severely punished. The voter stats are an interesting read. Most of my age group seemed to vote for McCain but I'm too smart to fall for the BS coming from the right.

If Obama doesn't screw up it may be a very long time before another Republican is in the White House. All the young kids in HS today that voted overwhelmingly for Obama in mock student elections will be voters in 2012BTW there are no more Republican Senators in the entire northeast. With this election there is something in the air.

Well just the fact that you get your info from FOx News pretty much tells me you're a Kool-Aid drinking hater.

This kind of pessimisstic attitude and fight to the death of not changing is what has and what will continue to bring our nation in a downhill spiral.

He's your President too, so you might want to work on healing our Nation with the rest of us.

Obama didn't spit lies and hate like McCain did. Luckily America has finally woken up to the false fears that the right-wing generates and has grasped with an optimistic hand the need for change.

Obama has spoken for weeks about the reality of what it will take, this is no epiphamy.

Howie, while I think what you said may have merit, I can't help to rewind back to the 2000 election. Even I have to admit that Bill Clinton was a very popular President with a lot of America. But in 2000, that popularity didn't necessarily translate a lock for a win for the Gore/Leiberman campaign.

Well if you were observant (and read some of my other posts) instead of passing judgment on me from one sentence you would know that one of my main news sources is... Not Fox News but National Public Radio. But then again, your comments remind me of a conversation I had at work with one of our former programmers. He railed on Fox News for not being 'Fair and Balanced." I reminded him that Fox News Sunday has Juan Williams and Mara Liasson from... National Public Radio. Also, they have d!ck Morris (the guy that Orchestrated 1996 Clinton victory) as a political analyst for heaven's sake!

But I digress; the local Fox Affiliate in Indianapolis is the only local news network that has news past 8am in the morning. While the rest of the stations flip over to Good Morning America and the Today Show where they go on and on about ‘Pop Culture’ and who is doing what to whom in Hollywood, Fox 59 actually talks about the local news. Sure, it’s not as glamorous as the crap that the national morning new shops slop on your plate every morning, but it is ten time more news worthy.

And the Liberal Lackeys on this forum were saying "He is not MY President." But I guess now that you all's guy won, now it applies. Typical stupidity from the left.

After watching the Obamites on National TV, crying and doing that Evangelical Hands up in the air praise thing (which is Majorly offensive to me) when Obama spoke, I think its very necessary to lay out the fact that the Status Quo will not leave Washington DC under the Obama administration.

So Fox has an open minded pundit on once a week, that's fair and balanced?

I know who Juan Williams is and shared tears with him on the night of the election. I was admittedly surprised when I saw Juan on Fox and commend them for it. I have NPR on for 8 hours a day while at work, listen to various Conservative talk shows on the way to and from work, and am always anxious to come home to my Daily Show. I hear everybody's side.Unfortunately as always, the conservative shows breed hate and encourage fear and ignorance.

As for defending you, I've never particapated in any thread where you commented on W. But since I wasn't there, I'm a typical left wing nut...

99% of McCain ads were negative, spitting out typical hate and fear (AKA Kool-aid). I know the right hates the Kool-aid analogy and wish they can put it on Obama supporters, but it just doesn't stick. Just like Republicans-cough-McCain-cough can't possibly be a "flip-flopper". That title is reserved for Dems...

I'm sorry that people being inspired and relieved that this current admin is FINALLY over is offensive to you. I have no religious links, in fact I am anti- organized religion, but I saw what they saw...an end to closed doors, secretive policies, pissing on the American constitution, welfare for corporate America (but that's not socialist right?) and an out right destructive stance on civil rights.

Tax cuts to middle America= socialism?Tax cuts and billions of $ of free money to wealthy America = not socialism?

It's funny how definitions change, isn't it?

This thread is about the impending Obama Administration and their lack of 'Change' that they will bring to the mentality in Washington DC.

Not about the Bush Administration. To be honest, I can't look forward enough to January 20th, 2009 so all you can shut the hell up about the Bush Administration. What are you guys going to do then? No Bush to blame things on like Katrina (I swear he used the 9-11 planes to break the levies, you know he hates Blacks.) and Global Warming.

I watch, listen to, and read 8-12 hours of news a day. CNN is the most fair, Fox has a right wing bias, and MSNBC has a massive left wing bias. Juan has been contributor to Fox News Channel for a long time.

That said, "spreading the wealth" by federal redistribution is socialistic.Massive corporate welfare is socialistic.Federal healthcare and retirement are socialistic.Giving money to GM, Ford, Chrysler, and all the banks for bailouts is socialistic.Buying up mortgages is socialistic.

I don't really give a damn how inspired you are. Its irrelevant to the truth, which usually lies in the middle. Both parties favor large government. Massive spending and massive taxation have enlarged the pot, giving every "gimme gimme" a-hole from welfare bums and union turds to failed CEOs and irresponsible lenders a vested interest in eating a piece of the pie.

The difference is that this year, the Democrats packaged their big-government bull**** in the form of 'hope'. Republicans packaged their BS in 'fear'. Its still BS from both sides.

ZOMG you are so right. CNN has what? Two? Glen Beck and Bill Bennett?

Quote »I know who Juan Williams is and shared tears with him on the night of the election. I was admittedly surprised when I saw Juan on Fox and commend them for it.
I have a lot of respect for Juan Williams. I may disagree with him from time to time as well as NPR, but find the man very level headed.

Quote » I have NPR on for 8 hours a day while at work, listen to various Conservative talk shows on the way to and from work, and am always anxious to come home to my Daily Show. But you are absolutely right, conservative shows like Sean Hannity's show breeds hate. So much hate that Hannity has extended two offers to Obama.1. If Obama came on Hannity's Talk Radio show before the election, he would cut a check of $10,000 to Obama's half poor brother living in Kenya.2. Hannity offered to buy Obama a beer to show that he (Hannity) does not harbor any ill will to Obama.

What does Obama do? Goes on the Daily Show and other Cable News shows and talks about Hannity. This I am sure is the change in the mentality of Washington DC that America is looking for in a candidate.

Quote »As for defending you, I've never particapated in any thread where you commented on W. But since I wasn't there, I'm a typical left wing nut...
Is ok, my point was more for the left wing nut jobs of this forum, not specifically aimed at you. Plus, the only real left wing nut job that we have here is Telcoman, since Bob has been banned.

Quote »99% of McCain ads were negative, spitting out typical hate and fear (AKA Kool-aid). That title is reserved for Dems...
Oh, there were plenty of fear based tactics that were used by the Obama campaign on TV ads and the DNC. Everything from "ZOMG McCain is going to do away with your Medicare and Medicaid!!!!!!!" and "ZOMG McCain is going to give your Health Care tax rebate check to the Health Insurance Companies!!!!!!!" Seriously, if we have a national health care plan, wouldn't you think the Federal Government would ramp down Medicare and Medicaid because.. you would have overlapping programs? And giving the tax rebate checks to Health Insurance Companies, isn't that the point? Kind of like GM giving you a rebate for buying a new car and the money going to GM to pay off part of the principle of your loan?

The fact is that Obama promised a Change in tone in the campaign, yet returned to the status quo. The only real change in tone that I saw was McCain attempting to keep people from making Obama's Race, National Origin and Religion an issue in the Campaign. But hey, what do I know.

Quote »I'm sorry that people being inspired and relieved that this current admin is FINALLY over is offensive to you.
Being a person of faith, I resent the Messianic Imagery that the Obama Campaign has fixed to the marketing of the candidate. I also resent people running around saying, "Because of Obama, I will not have work hard to put gas in my car, I will not have to work hard to make my Mortgage payment and put food on the table." -some woman in Grant Park after Obama's acceptance speech. To be honest, I was contemplating this with Heliochrome last night, all this worship of the cult of Obama’s personality in my mind borders on Idolatry. Sorry, that is just my opinion and should not be taken as anything more than that.

1. Giving it to the poor that don't pay any taxes is Socialism (aka Redistribution of Wealth.2. Giving money back to the middle class people that actually pay taxes is not necessarily Socialism, its called a tax cut and it's technically their money, so to speak. No Republican pundit or John McCain ever argued with that.3. Giving money back to Rich People and Corporations that pay a higher percentage in taxes is not necessarily Socialism, its called a tax cut and it's technically their money, so to speak. But then again, Obama and the Democrats in the campaign has used this issue to wage "Class Warfare." But according to you, only Republicans 'breed hate.'

Also, tomorrow I believe that Nancy Pelosi will be on the Wall Street Journal This Morning to talk about the potential 'bail out' of General Motors. Knowing your a big GM fan, I thought I would mention it.

EPIC TRUTH

Much as I might think that Obama will be a pretty good President, I don't KNOW whether he will be or not yet, and neither does telco, or Jesda, or Bud, or, for that matter, neither does Obama.

You can't take future performance for granted. We'll all watch together what kind of job he does and we'll each draw our own conclusions.

After taking some time to reflect.

I do have to say that one thing I do like about the Obama campaign and elect administration is their stance on being influenced by lobbyists. They have imposed restrictions on active and former lobbyists from working on the campaign, the transition team and now the administration where their area of lobbying and their duties would conflict.

I like the approach of self imposed restrictions rather than government imposed restrictions. But the problem of DC being dominated by lobbyists has not gone away even though the Obama Administration has these self imposed restriction.

Lobbyists, specifically Liberal and Democrat leaning, are salivating at the mouth. They see the Federal Government virtually under a one party rule and they love it. They may not be able to infiltrate the White House, but they are going to over run the Congress with their efforts. And with a Democrat majority in 2/3 branches of government, who is going to stop their efforts?

The difference is that this year, the Democrats packaged their big-government bull**** in the form of 'hope'. Republicans packaged their BS in 'fear'. Its still BS from both sides.

Put the kool aid down. The world hasn't changed yet. Support the president, give him a chance, and judge him AFTER he's done something. Your misguided and shallow enthusiasm is no different from sad right wingers who think the world is ending.

Bump. My, my, my how things have changed.

Bill Richardson has been nominated to Commerce, but has withdrawn his nomination citing a Federal Ethics Investigation. Of all the people that Obama has named to his cabinet, Gov. Richardson was by far the best name in my book. He will probably be cleared of any wrong doing and go back to serving the people of New Mexico. Unfortunately, the rest of America will not be able to benefit from his experience and leadership.

So we look at the people that Obama will be surrounding himself with:ClintonPodestaEmanuelRichardson And now Panetta to head the CIA? This administration is certainly shaping up to be another 4 more years of the Clinton Administration. So much for a 'new' change in the attitude of Washington DC. It appears to be more of the same.

But now to my point. In this current time where we are fighting a Global War on Terror, trying to contain Iran's Nuclear Ambitions, fight Somali Pirating off the Gulf of Aden, we are dealing with deteriorating situations in the Ukraine (now that the Russians are cutting off gas shipments), Zimbabwe, Guinea (military junta) and the Gaza strip. Do we really need a pencil pusher, a bureaucrat, to head up the CIA? Panetta's only qualification in the intelligence community has been to run an 'Institute of Peace.' The only thing that I can think of is that Panetta was on the Obama's Iraq council that called for withdrawn of troops. Basically, he will be a 'Yes' man for Obama's policy. Remember, it was the CIA had 2 opportunities to capture Osama bin Laden and 8 opportunities to terminate him and the Clinton Administration dragged their feet. Are we going to see more of the same when it comes to our National Security Issues with the CIA?

Personally, I think this may show that Obama is in way over his head. Maybe he needs to go back to picking the 'Southern Sampler' at the Dixie Cafe. He seems more well suited to pick food from a Menu than director of Central Intelligence.

Now this is a good one.Back during the 2008 Presidential Campaign, Joe the Plumber was considered to be excluded from criticizing Obama's economic plans because he owed the State of Ohio $1,182 on a tax lien. The National Media and Democrat groups ran this guy through the ringer; the State of Ohio invaded his privacy (by investigating and releasing his information) multiple times. All over $1,182.

Now the incoming Obama Administration wants you to believe that Tim Geithner's (nominee to head up the Treasury Department) failure to pay $34,000 was just an "honest mistake" and 'has been corrected." Yes, the guy that will oversee the IRS and the enforcement of tax code has had a tax problem of himself. I'm sorry, if it had been any of us common folk and not a big bad IMF (International Monetary Fund) executive, our asses would have been thrown in jail and all of our assets seized. And heaven forbid if you have anything to say about the tax code or potential tax code. The news media will run you through the ringer!

What a class act of an Administration.

Wait, that's not how he filled his cabinet? I thought he looked the Democratic specials menu and said "yes I'll take this this and this, and could you hold the this?"

Obama just banned his aides from lobbying in the future, is allowing the public to comment on proposed legislation, is beginning to shut Guantanamo down, and is beginning to start the withdrawal from Iraq. Those things seem to be changes, no?
