i saw that nsport turbo kits will give me 240 hp at the rear wheels. if i upgrade to forged pistons would that increase my hp and what would be the max i could boost

sorry buddy, don't expect to see much of any gain with forged over regular internals. the only benefit to going forged is they're stronger. ie, take more abuse.

sure, run more boost, hell run 26psi, just don't expect the fuel system to keep up :)

The Nsport uses a crappy FMU so don't expect much over 7psi unless you upgrade your injectors and ECU to keep up with the airflow.

what would be a safe amount to boost on the forged pistons and would 26 psi be a little extreme if i didn't lower the compression?

i'm pretty sure 26psi would be a lot extreme unless you have the KA rebuilt very well w/ lower compression forged pistons, rods, etc. i don't think many are running much more than 26, i think george is though.

not sure exactly, he's running a gt3037 (good for 450hp or so) and nitrous. when i talked to him he said he was going to be boosting around 30psi on a fully built motor. sounds pretty sweet to me.

Yeah I'll probably hang out of this forum for awhile. Atleast until it starts getting really boring or the admin guys start being *****y. I've seen alot of sites go down the crapper. But this one seems cool enough.

why does the Nsport kit use an FMU, that thing belongs on a honda!, how does the Nsport kit perform compared to F-Max, etc, stage for stage? I'm new to KA's so correct me if i'm wrong but it seems to me that the t3/t04e, along w/ proper engine management (JWT), would outperform a T04B and a FMU????? dont flame, just clarify, thanks

the nsport kit is pretty good, but what i like most about nsport is that the owner has build an ridiculous number of KA's and if you go to him with an idea for a KA he will tell you straight what is needed...no guess work. F-max is also an excellant shop that wont be around for long though. the F-max kit is excellant quality but nsport has more experience pushing the motor to higher power levels.

so would you say that the Nsport kit is the best bolt-on kit you can buy?

what if you used the Nsport hardware, ditched the FMU, got some decent size inj, Z32 maf, and some good engine managment, what whp/ psi, could the KA take on stock int?

a few years back i blew up a stock KA..i was running 15psi and a 50 shot of nitrous. the motor made about 320 to the wheels. and the only thing that cracked were the piston rings. block was fine, rods were ok, head gasket was fine. so i would go above 280 on a stocker. just my opinion

Two words: It's cheaper. Up to about 7 or so PSI, both the Nsport, XS and F-max kits should get similar HP. Beyond that, the XS and NSPORT may start running lean and require an upgrade, From what I hear, F-Max can no longer supply the JWT set-up as it is getting difficult to obtain.

To say one turbo will outperform another leaves too many variables. Every set-up has compromises. Depends on what boost level, the airflow of the motor, intercooler efficiency, the turbo's specs(A/R, trim, etc). Both the T04B and T04E compressors are well suited to the KA. The difference may lend itself more apparent in higer boost levels and flow, but should not be too significant. Especially if the intercooler is decent. The T04B will have better exhaust flow than the T3 turbine. This results in less back pressure for the same boost which frees up more HP. The T3 turbine can actually start to choke the motor at higer boost anf/or RPM's. Though, the trade-off for the T4 turbine of course is lag.
