Ah ok. I'm used to here. If the car came from the factory with a 3rd brake light, it must always have a 3rd brake light.

are you sure thats the law down there?

my moms ex-boyfriend lives in the Durham area and he took his 3rd light off of his car and never had anything said to him

theres nothing legal about having a 3rd brake light on your car, it was just an add on from car companies after research proved that it was a huge factor in stopping rear impact collision....if some states requires to keep these on some cars thats definetely something not to "brake" the bank over it....

Technically I believe there is a law on the books. But I doubt it is ever noticed. People I know who do inspections know about it. But no one ever pays any attention to 3rd brake lights.
