Hey NICO! Ive been a troll for too long so i made my introductory thread. My name is Christian, im 15. im from Texas, and ive kinda grown up a Nissan kid. For as far as i can remember my dad drove a 94' hardbody pickup that he taught me how to drive a manual transmission in at 8 years old, and my mom had a 92? 240sx coupe. Always thought they were the coolest and best looking cars in the world and still do :gapteeth:
For my first car i got a 90' nissan 240sx hatchback in fairly decent shape and plan on keeping it so... i bought it off a friend who got it because his DD (01 altima) got wrecked, so i wanted to buy the altima to fix and drive it myself. But things went another way, long story short i fixed the altima and gave it back to the guy and he gave me the 240 for payment! :chuckle: the chassis has around 145k on it and I have swapped a newer (96') ka24de with supposedly only 40,000 miles on it, hard to believe but has excellent compression all around (180) and runs like a champ. anyway off to pics:

when i first got her...

240 with the altima right after i finished it...

and my ka24 as it sat then...

yo homes thats awesome seeing somebody else being a car fanatic before their licence. I bought my first ae86 not long after my 15th bday but instead of working on cars wasting money on them i like flipping through without selling for less. I really dont recommend putting 500horses in a 240sx unless you are a drag junky then go for it. Personally im a road racing guy so 500horses is just gonna spin me around through the turn and the local track is tight. when do you get a licence where you live? i just got an L for learner which only allows me to drive with somebody 25 or older, luckily my brother just turned 30 lol but you get that at 16. then at 17 you get an N which lets me drive alone and only one friend but unlimited family. sucks cause i didnt get to drive my car legally for over half a year and in the city not the best idea to drive this young. i still did on my street and tought myself to drift in my oem ae86 in greatest condition possible i sold it for 5500can. got myself an ae86 for daily and 240sx full rollcage for racing/drifting, gonna go for my race licence in july

ouch, my thread is dead. well my 16th birthday was saturday so woot! lil bday money came in and it will go toward the car.
first off im going to get myself some a/c lol (in texas thats a must) so i snagged my old a/c compressor of the sohc i pulled out, and modified the bracket to fit on the block, but i have to get rid of the p/s pump! thats ok cz i hate p/s and im going to go manual steering the right way (dissassemble the rack, gut it and pack with grease)
to run the alternator im gonna use sohc brackets and new belt to run the water pump without the p/s pump. its all documented and planned out i just gotta round up parts and some time and DO IT! :gapteeth:

you should focus more on your english class than this car

with that said, solid start. Make sure you don't forget about suspension to handle all of that power. Even if you don't hit your goal, itll still probably be a lot of power

well, i hate to give this out as a lil update. my current running KA blew a headgasket
i have all the symptoms, milky/sludge oil with compression in the cooling system causing hoses to pop off their mounts. so ill be savin my extra pennies toward a new headgasket and in the meantime be gettin learned' here on resourceful nico on how to do this! wish me luck and ill let yall know how it goes!

Damn dude that sucks about your head gasket, but changing it out isnt hard at all really. Just make sure you put the head bolts on in the right torque sequences and dont use the same head bolts though.

Good luck!

thanks bro, the only thing that worries me is the cam timing. but ive read a few threads on it and am pretty confident that i can do it myself.

one question, is it absolutley necessary to have the head decked? or can you just scrape it off real good n put it back? and also what other gaskets do you have to replace? like the intake manifold gasket i plan on doing as well, but i have a tube of rtv that needs to be used before it drys out lol :gapteeth:

get a top end gasket kit on ebay. i think i paid 25 bucks for a full gasket kit on there. dont rtv your intake manifold thats ghetto. also yet if you have a blown head gasket you need to have your head decked. also you can have the machine shop check its flatness.
