thanks motoman! i totally forgot about checking ebay. i found a complete headgasket kit for $40, the price it would cost to get just the head gasket by itself at napa.

OK! mini update: i bought my head gasket kit today. i kept checking ebay for the best deal and found it! $18 something plus shipping, but then i scrolled down and saw the persons' ebay store so i click on it and it shows the shop location and a pic of the building and i go, sheit that place looks familiar! turns out its a local shop that specializes in gaskets for all japanese cars. so awesome! so i say f*** ebay im going to the place myself. ended up paying $35 for a complete gasket kit, and didnt have to wait on shipping!! it was worth it. quality gaskets (meets or exeeds oem) and extremely freindly and helpful people, i recommend the place to anyone.

Have the bumper support in there?, if not put one in and it will take away that sag you got going on there. On the other hand the bumper looks great.

i do have a bumper support in there finally. ive been without one ever since i went chuki but got one off a junkyard 240 (RIP)

I tinted the lights with some smoke tint stuff, sold at o'reileys for $10 a can. really cool stuff, but im glad i wasnt stupid enough then to smoke my tails....

and NO i havent been without a car! i wasnt driving at the time it blew anyway. :) i drive my parents cars with them as of now, i get my license in january.

Miniture update:

Got headbolts from Nissan for $50 somthin, they had to order them cause they didnt have them in stock so i waited. When i picked them up later that week i noticed that they had been shipped just across town from Courtesy Nissan in Dallas! next time ill just go there myself.

Since i really dont quite feel comfortable enough doin the cams by myself I got a mechanic freind to help pull the head with me. He has connections and has a place to check the head and do the work it might need ect. So we should be doing that next friday!!

UGH! Well we got the head off fine, went suprizingly smooth and I was amazed how friggin simple it was. But my buddy takes the head to his shop and find out its warped, cracked, and needs new valves. basicly the works :frown: $hit. took in a spare head I acquired on craigslist and it was in better shape, but still needed the works done to it :tisk:

Any one on here selling a remanned s14 ka24de head and would like to really help someone out? im shoppin around for a head as I type this, some go for as much as $500 STOCK REBUILT!!! But thats the most ive seen so far... ugh damn

OK so I got a new head from a local 240 shop (Tay's Automotive for those in the know) for a feasible $200. Im going to go ahead and do a valve job on it before I take it to get milled. Also im going to have to shim the lifters since they were taken out. Anyone know of a good place to get those? I can't wait to get this car running again!

Also my awesome Grandfather knew a guy that passed away that had a HUGE collection of Snap-on tools and a nice toolbox (Snap-on also). The guy's gf was cleaning out the house that they lived in and my grandpa ended up buying the tools off her and gave them to me! so i now have just about anything I will ever need to work on my car and others! :dblthumb:

with that said, solid start. Make sure you don't forget about suspension to handle all of that power. Even if you don't hit your goal, itll still probably be a lot of power

^ Indeed, Tay is an awesome dude. I used to live right down the street from his shop, Thats how I found out about him.

@240sxAli4Life: Seriously dude, chill out. I didnt take his comment to be so offensive. even though he does get a little hot sometimes, it does no good to flame back...

Haha yea I had accumulated tools from harbor freight and northern tool and they work ok. all I really had to work with before was a 10, 12, and 14mm socket and a set of open end wrenches, Now I got pretty much everything  I bought a nice little 1.5 ton aluminum jack @ northern for $75 (on sale of course) The same one runs about $120 now, But it fits under my 240!

I still dunno how much this heads gonna run. I still need to do a valve job and buy shims after I get it milled this week so we'll see!

My head is finally in the shop! If nothing else needs to be done with it I will be in pretty good shape. Sucks having you're car sit 3.5 months and nothing you can do with it... lol I cleaned like every nook and cranny in my engine bay so it shines like hell under there! pics will come as soon as this thing gets put back together...

This is my first major repair on my 240 and ive learned SO much about my awesome chassis through this! Finally got my head back $460 later! Shines like hell on the resurfaced side. Ill start putting it back together tomorrow and hopefully have this thing running again by monday! Just in time for a date and fireworks ;)

Well folks! my car lives! went together nice and easy (surprisingly) started up of first try and runs Waaaay better than it ever has before. Still have a few quirks to work out tho... and have to bleed my cooling system still.

I went ahead and did the emissions removal, makes it so much easier to access the back of the engine now! I can like snake my arm all thru the intake mani now :chuckle: bought an ebay intake pipe for $40 and im happy with it for now. much better than my old plastic stock one with holes and my shotty "plastic welding" repairs

I wish I could post pics cuz I have lots of them but photobucket is being faggish so I cant right now... first chance I get ill update this post with pics.

Cheers Nico  its party time for me ;)
