nawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwssss .....I wouldn't reccomend it unless you do it right, it may be cheap, but yes, if you just slap some 100shot nos on your car and start using it, esp if your car is old, it will do some damage. If you upgrade, say, the pistons to forged pistons, better cams to let in all that air, different injectors etc, yes, it will work much better, but i'd definitely reccommend turbo over nos, or just go all motor! forced induction is for sissies! (just kidding...I would love to turbo my KA, but no $$)

Hello, I'm one of the local N.O.S. reps in Houston. What would you like to know about it?

My 95 with 140K miles is running forged internals, a walbro 255 lph fuel pump and upgraded injectors to feed a 150-250hp dry shot.

Nitrous in any form will destroy your motor if you don't do it right, and I'm always glad to help out another 240 owner, so please ask away. :D

The difference between dry and wet is that a dry kit sprays only nitrous and a wet kit sprays both nitrous and fuel. Also, a dry kit sprays before the MAF to allow the ECU to increase the fuel to the motor to compensate for the nitrous. A wet kit sprays usually right before the throttle body, but NEVER before tha MAF as the fuel to compensate the nitrous is sprayed dirrectly with the ntrous.

The wet kit is definately the safer of the two for anyone without experience using nitrous.

Injector upgrades are only necessary if you EVER plan on spraying anything bigger than a 100hp shot on your 240.The fuel pump upgrade is definately worth while to keep from leaning out the motor on any shot above 75hp.

Just remember that the only thing Nitrous really does is to allow your motor to get the most efficient use of the fuel. Nitrous cools the cylinders, and atomizes with gasoline causing the motor to run leaner and thus make more horsepower.

Lean is fast, but too lean and it will go pop.

If you would like, I can take some pictures of my N.O.S. setup on my 95 base model tonight and upload them. Then you could see exactly what a Dry kit looks like installed.

the limit on your engine is usually based on your compression and the sparkplugs.Age and milage also plays a role, but not nearly as much.

You could concievably run a 200hp shot on your KA, but the stock internals would last only about 20 passes if that.Anything more than a 100hp shot I recommend going to forged internals. Crank and Pistons minimum.

As for your fuel filter, it's simple.GO to your local autoparts store and pick up a 93 300ZXTT fuel filter. The hose attachments on either end will be the same size and plug right on. The bracket your stock fuel filter fits into will bend out to the right size with minimal effort and hold the new filter as if it were OEM.

I'll get some pictures of my setup while we're at the track tonight and post a link to them. Remember that my setup is a DRY kit, and you will have a fuel solonoid, and extra lines that I do not have.

ok, ive got a 97 240 with a 2.5 year warranty on it left. So I can use whatever I please (the warranty requires a licensed mechanic shop to do the work, luckily I help out at one right now and get work free, and if I blew the engine, they wouldnt say anything about the nitrous). What is the most reliable though? (no sense in purposely blowing my engine just because I can, lol). I also have an auto, so I'm wondering if that will effect the amount I can shoot. Let me know what would be needed to shoot a 100hp shot, and if I should use direct port for something that size or not, if not, would the stock injectors work? Thanks for the info in advance, your shooting some psycho amounts yourself, lol.

THat all depends on your fuel system. On a stock fuel system, you can run a bigger wet shot than a dry shot.Just don't push it too hard, because stock internals are not that strong.

Always glad to help :) ON your stock injectors, I would recommend no more than a 100hp shot. If you do a dirrect port system, you will gain 2 things.1 you will be flowing both Nitrous and Gasonline dirrectly into the combustion chamber which allows for the maximum atomization and combustion of both chemicles.and 2 you will be bypassing the MAF system because the only way to run Dirrect Port is as a wet shot.

But yes, a properly installed and tested (test spraying through the Dirrect Port Jets with the jets off of the car) wet shot can be run at 100hp without a problem. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT 100hp IS A BIG SHOT ON ANY MOTOR!

No matter what anyone tells you, only you know what level you are comfortable with. Start small (25hp - 50hp) and work your way up to the 100hp shot. This will let you see what is going to give out and what isn't.

I also run an automatic. Mine has a 4000 RPM stall (Torque Converter).I would NEVER spray a stock automatic transmission below 3500rpm, or above 6000rpm.Doing so, or staying on the spray durring a shift is one of the fastest ways to destroy your transmission.

The N.O.S. Super Pro Shot Solonoid. Good for up to 350hp.

My lines are run through the firewall just below the brake master cylinder.

THe nozzle on my DRY kit is drilled and tapped dead center on the metal end of my K&N Air Filter.

Sorry the pictures aren't that great.Hopefully it will cool off enough for me to go and take some more this afternoon. It's 89°F outside right now.

so what would you recommend for maximum reliability on a completely stock engine? I'd like about 60hp but be able to move up from there. I'm thinking a dry shot can handle that just fine. Basically, if you (Aries) were me, what would you do?

If I were you, I would do a 300ZXTT Fuel filter, clean the injectors really well, and put a dry 50hp shot on it.Then move it up as you like.Just remember the limitations of your motor. The stock fuel system can't back up anything over 100hp.And I can't stress that enough.

ok, thanks. If you know (since you have an auto), what are the limitations to the stock auto? As in, when does it break eventually? I'm wondering how long it will hold out, and how much power (through whatever means neccessary) I can put out before swapping to a manual because of reliability concerns.

stock autos usually give out arround 350hp, but it all depends on their use (or abuse) and age.

The more miles on it, the sooner it will give out. :)

I have the NX Express wet kit and I was having problems with it. It felt like I was getting too much fuel and causing the engine to stutter so I got pissed and ripped the fuel solenoid out and now I am running a 70 jet and running it dry before the throttle body and the car is not leaning out at all I am really confused with the way the car is running because I am not running anything like you quoted me to and it seems to be working fine

How do you know that the car is not leaning out?AFR gauges realate only electrical impulses from the O2 Sensor on your header (If you even have an O2 Sensor after mods)Have you pulled out your spark plugs to look at them? Were they white? Grey? Black? Oily? Powdery? Did they still have electrodes?

a 70 jet on the NX system is a 020 pill size. (NX may rate this differently, but this is how the match up on a size chart.)and on a dry shot only produces about 45 hp.

The way you are running this system, and any knowledgable shop will tell you the same thing, is dangerous and foolish.

Try calling NX and explaining the problem to them, or the shop where you purchased the system.I am not 100% familiar with the NX setup, as I didn't like it, and it was too much trouble to tune on my cars so I went to N. O. S.

Try moving the jet for the system to before your MAF, and see the difference. Just cover your old hole with duct tape for a few minutes while you try it.

You will see a huge difference.

(Please note that cars with the temperature resistor Radio Shack mod will react VERY differently to Nitrous applications. The Temperature of the nitrous is typically about 36°F when it is released from the nozzle, and the sensor makes fuel adjustments to compensate.)

I am confused about the a/f gauge so is it not giving an accurate reading being connected to the first O2 sensor

AFR gauges are acurate about 1/2 of the time. The rest they are getting only intermittent voltage readings.

They get the best readings at idle, and at 3/4 throttle in our cars. That's where they are the most accurate. At WOT, the voltage spikes intermitently, and causes the gauge to bounce from lean to stoich.

How much would a dry NOS kit for up to 75hp cost??? and is installing it fairly easy or moderate??

Dry kits cost between $500 and $1000 depending on where you get them, and what brand.

The install is easy to moderate depending on how comfortable you are with wiring. There are few wiring diagrams for nitrous kits on our cars, but the basics are all the same.

Just be sure to tap into a power source that turns off when the car turns off, and you'll be fine.

So if I run a moderate 75hp shot once in while then my stock 95 engine runnign on 100K will be fine...up to a certian point, right?

Once in a while will be no problem. :D My motor has 136K Miles and is sprayed almost nightly.(Remember that I have forged internals though...)
