I got the NOS running pretty good in my car despite all of the problems I have had getting the bottle filled. My question is this, I have only been able to get about 4-5 pounds in the 20 pound bottle due to the fact I have not found anyone with a pump. The shops I have found use a siphon method and cant get anymore than 4-5 pounds in the bottle. When I hook the bottle up the pressure gauge under the reads about 900 psi. When I get the car in NOS mode it seems like I only get 5-6 shots of NOS before the gauge reads around 300 psi and nothing happens when it gets that low. The ecu say's that it is set up for .052 shot. Is this normal? It seems like you should get more use out of it than that, Please educate me.

Thanks

About 1 pound per 13 seconds is normal with 75 HP jet.

0.052 is a big 122 crank HP Jethttp://www.robietherobot.com/N...r.htm

Something like a 0.040-0.041 would be 75 HP ................ 0.047 ~ 100 HP

Yeah you have to find someone to pump it up. Surprised you can only find someone who siphons because you have an even bigger bottle than me and I get 10lbs no problem. Sometimes they hook me up with 11lbs if they feel like they can pound more in there.

I dont know what my shop used, they had this doowhoppy that hooked up to compressed air and it would make a PSSH -POP- PSSH sound and then theyd stop once it was filled.

I bet you have a 15lb bottle or something like that, because its definitely bigger than mine... They can usually get more NOS in the bottle if they (or you) put it in the freezer for a while to get it real cold.

Unfortunately, I lost my nitrous ECU so I wont be spraying for a while... How you can lose a nitrous ECU is BEYOND me.

To bad Wes! And yes thats a 15 pound bottle he has. Sounds like you need to go to a speed shop that knows what they are doing! I get 15 to 20 runs on a 10 pound bottlewith a 150 shot. I have run 20 to 25 bottles through my systemwith much success and fun

Actually it's a 20lb bottle and your right, I just needed to find someone whe knew what they were doing. I did find a great shop today and they got the bottle full (it must have weighed at least 50lbs) I hooked it up and WOW......... what a difference. It is amazing to me how fast the NOS makes that car, I love it!!!!!! I do notice that I lose pressure when I run it due to the fact that I do not have a bottle warmer, the shop told me that it helps keep the pressure up when the bottle is hot. But I do not think I will have a problem in Phoenix with the NOS mounted in the trunk. Anyway thanks for the feedback and I can't wait to get into trouble with the NOS>

Regards

Random thought -

The instructions for the propane bottle refiller kits that Harbor Freight sells mention that you'll come a lot closer to completely refilling the bottle if you stick it in the freezer for a while first. They also suggest doing the same thing again with a partially-filled bottle, in order to squeeze even more into it.

Any chance of the same trick working with NOS? If you wanted to get serious about it, you could bring the bottle to the refiller inside an ice chest, perhaps along with a little bit of dry ice.

The shop that fills my Nitrous bottle (Mustang) puts the bottle in a freezer for a few minutes before filling it, said they can get 11 lbs easy into a 10 lb bottle. They're racers and so fill their own bottles with closer to 12 lbs.

Re: Bottle heater, I don't think you'll need a bottle heater in AZ but the difference in pressure between 70 degrees and 97 degrees is 300 lbs of bottle pressure-big difference. If you do get a bottle heater then ZEX makes a nice one that you can get on ebay for $100 or so. It uses a thermostat and heats the bottle to about 90 degrees or so. Its more user friendly than the others I thought.

Do you spray through the gear shifts? I ask because I've had so much fun with my Mustang and the ZEX kit was so easy to install that I thought about adding it to the Q but my only worry was the transmission.

One thing that I learned is that sometimes thsoe heating pads you cna buy (like for health purposes) work better than the bottle heaters made for NOS. Unless you get one like what ruber has which is a heater + blanket.

The main thing is keeping the bottle warm while you spray. You want to keep the bottle pressure around 900PSI for the JWT system to work right.

Did you have to do any mods to your injectors to run a 150 shot? I would like to send my ecu to JWT and get it upgraded.

Thanks

No injector changes. Just change the jet. I don't think the ecu sprays through the shift. Wes may know more about the details. He's one of those smart college kids Do be careful. Remember nos does strain the drivetrain.
