You know where all these lame, no talent bands are gonna be in 10 years? ... on a Time Life Music 15 CD compilation set commercial.

Just like those 80s hair bands like Whitesnake and Poison.

Ok first off , THEY ARENT NEW. theyve been around when most of the guys on this forum were still crappin in their diapers. I find it hard to believe that a no talent band can last for almost 2 decades. Which means they must be somewhat good. Yeah when they first started playing they were still finding themselves. I quote Howard Stern when he said on air "This song's not rockin'. Who is that? nofx?, notalent should be the name of that band" LOL. What i like about NOFX is that its all about having a good ****ing time, and life isnt fair and you should be glad it isn't. And they usually side with what makes sense, which can't be said of all bands. As far as that uneducated comment, Fat Mike is a college graduate from San Francisco State University, so i think he knows a thing or 2 about what hes doing. And if you still think NOFX is garbage, then you just have bad taste so :pface

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........

College grad makes this garbage good god. If playing "music" was about having a good time don't you think all of us would be musicians getting drunks all the time?

listen im not here to argue. If you think NOFX is a trash/no talent band then more power to ya bc your entitled to your opinion. NOFX is not running for office, theyre just saying what they think kinda like you are. I am against Bush bc he cut funding for a certain thing which i dont feel like talking about. I've been always been against Bush for that same reason, not bc everyone is on the bush-hate bandwagon. And how can you not like a person when you dont know them?!!! That just baffles me.

Never mentioned anything about your political views. Just said there is a bandwagon floating around that alot of people are jumping on.

I must have too big of an ego lol. I believe bandwagons can be applied to most things. Im on the " if its fun, do it again" bandwagon just like most of my friends are bc it is cool to have fun. If i dont like a person its because of the content of their character, not bc of their reputation or what they believe in.

btw im also on the "im not on the bandwagon" bandwagon ;)

I understand not liking old NOFX cause thats some hard stuff to listen too. I really like newer stuff Punk in Drublic and up. A lot of punk bands wont be heard in 10 years because well they arent heard now. Different people lioke different music it's the way life goes. I listen to damn near anything so I try my best not to descriminate against different genres. Punk rock has always been simplistic. thats what makes it great. people get to critical of others musical tastes. Just a thought or 2. :D

Nismo_Freak wrote:Dude, those bands I listed I've seen in concert (well... Roger Waters, not the Gilmore - Waters Pink Floyd). They are as good if not better in concert in terms of musical quality and talent.

This punk crap has nothing on the Eagles, Ted Nugent, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, Dire Straights, Pink Floyd, and a number of other bands.

Do you honestly think we will here nofx on the classic's radio station 20 years from now? ... you're a fool if you think so.

I've been to these "Punk" concerts and all it is is a bunch of wailing retards behind a mic, some guy chainsawing a guitar, drummer machinegunning some sort of beat, and quite frankly they all have the same sound.

man, NOF-X (hahah see how i wrote it in the old way) has been around for what? 20 years?of course it isn't good music, it's punk rock!maybe you should send them "together on the sand"that is a nice song.also, they did not jump on any bandwagon as far as being political.they made a song... long ago, called "Reagan Sucks" so maybe that will show that they havn't jumped on the new political bandwagon.also, they didnt jump on the bush bashing wagon.they have hated him since the beginning.

i loved their performance on Conan.quite rare too!

I'm not a big nofx fan, but anyone who says their music all sounds the same, and thinks that any of the 60's and 70's drug rock is any different... haha, i laugh at you.

i prefer stuff like rise against, pennywise, bad religion, authority zero, dropkick murphys, but i would hardly call nofx garbage.

edit: and don't say i'm uninformed... i went to the eagles hell freezes over tour for christs sakes...

Someone call this crap emo, i dare ya :pface

download here!!"The Decline"

here are the lyrics and some explanation from another source:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Decline 1999 by NOFX

Where are all the stupid people from? And how'd they get to be so dumb?Bred on purple mountain rangeFeed amber waves of grainsTo lesser human beings, zero feelings

**The next two stanzas attack the doublethink and the indoctrination that occurs in our society**

Blame it onHuman nature, mans destinyBlame it on the greediocracyFear of GodThe fear of changeThe fear of truth

Add the Bill of Rights, subtract the wrongsThere's no answersMemorize and sing star spangled songsWhen the questionsAren't ever askedIs anybody learning from the past? We're living in united stagnation

**From here on in, the lyrics touch on different stories. The first story attacks the American gun culture**

Father what have I done?I took that 22A gift to me from youTo bed with me each nightKept it cleanPolished it wellCherished every cartridge, every shell

Down, by the creek, under brush, under dirtThere's a carcass of my second killDown, by the park, under stone, under pineThere's a carcass of my brother WilliamBrother where, have you gone to?I swear, I never thought I couldI see so many timesThey told me to shoot straightDon't pull the trigger, squeezeThat will insure a killA kill is what you wantA kill is why we breed

The Christians love their gunsThe church and NRAPray for their salvationsPrey on the lower faiths

The story book's been read **The Bible**And every line believedCurriculum's been setLogic is a threatReason searched and seized

**Now they turn their sights on illogical drug laws that exist in our society. Note the contrast between getting arrested for possession of marijuana in California (twenty dollar fine) compared to Michigan (twenty years in jail)**

Jerry spent some time in MichiganA twenty year vacation, after all he had a dimeA dime is worth a lot more in DetroitA dime in California, a twenty dollar fine

Jerry only stayed a couple monthsIt's hard to enjoy yourself while bleeding out the @$$Asphyxiation is simple and fastIt beats seventeen fun years of being someones bltch

Don't think (Stay)Drink your wine (Home)Watch the fire burn (Be)His problems not mine (Safe)Just be that model citizen

**Now that theyve finished identifying the effects of the problem, they start to focus on the root (the assumption that a million people are smarter than one)**

I wish I had a schillingFor every senseless killingI'd buy a governmentAmerica's for saleAnd you can get a good deal on itAnd make a healthy profitOr maybe, tear it apartStart with assumptionThat a million people are smartSmarter than one

Serotonin's goneShe gave up, drifted awaySara fled, thought process goneShe left her answering machine onThe greeting left spoken sincereMessages no one will ever hear

Ten thousand messages a dayA million more transmissions layVictims of the laissez faireTen thousand voices, a hundred gunsA hundred decibels turns to oneOne bullet, one empty headNow with Serotonin gone

**The next two stanzas are about advertising**

The man who used to speakPerforms a cute routineFeel a little patronizedDon't feel badThey found a way inside your headAnd you feel a bit misledIt's not that they don't care, yeah

The television's put a thought inside your headLlike a Barry Manilow, jingleI'd like, to teach the world to singIn perfect harmonyA symphonic blank stare, yeahIt doesn't make you care (make you care)Not designed to make you care (make you care)They're betting you won't care (you won't...)

Place a wager on your greedA wager on your prideWhy try to beat them when, a million others tried?

We are the wh*reIntellectually spayedWe are the queerDysfunctionally raised

One more pill to kill the painOne more pill to kill the painOne more pill to kill the painLiving through conformity

One more prayer to keep me safeOne more prayer to keep us warmOne more prayer to keep us safeThere's gonna be a better place

**The rest of the song is a final concluding couple of thoughts**

Lost the battle, lost the warLost the things worth living forLost the will to win the fightOne more pill to kill the pain

The going get tough, the tough get debtDon't pay attention, pay the rentNext of kins pay for your sinsA little faith should keep us safe

Save usThe human, existenceIs failing, resistanceEssential, the futureWritten off, the odds areAstronomically against usOnly moron and geniusWould fight a losing battleAgainst the super egoWhen giving in is so damn comforting

**These next two stanzas are my favourite!**

And so we go, on with our livesWe know the truth, but prefer liesLies are simple, simple is blissWhy go against tradition when we canAdmit defeat, live in declineBe the victim of our own designThe status quo, built on suspectWhy would anyone stick out their neck?

Fellow membersClub "We've Got Ours"I'd like to introduce you to our hostHe's got his, and I've got mineMeet the decline

We are the queerWe are the wh*reAmmunitionIn the class warWe are workerWe love our queenWe sacrificeWe're soilent green

We are the queerWe are the wh*reAmmunitionIn the class war

I'll give you a good song:

"Feel Like Makin' Love" by Bad Company

Baby, when I think about youI think about loveDarlin’, don’t live without youAnd your loveIf I had those golden dreamsOf my yesterdaysI would wrap you in the heaven’till I’m dyin’ on the way

Feel like makin’Feel like makin’ loveFeel like makin’ love to you

Baby, if I think about youI think about loveDarlin’ if I live without youI live without loveIf I had the sun and moonI would give you both night and dayOf satisfyn’

Feel like makin’Feel like makin’loveFeel like makin love to you

And if I had those golden dreamsOf my yesterdaysI would wrap you in the heaven’til I’m dyin’ on the way

Feel like makin’ loveFeel like makin’ love(repeat many times)Feel like makin’ love to you
