Went on a IS 350 forum politely asked for a race. Thread was closed about 2 min later by a mod simply said

"No race post allowed. Locking "

Boy glad I didn't buy a IS350 can't even post about racing.

Jeff

Well, I don't think this site encourages street racing either. People can get hurt. You have no control of the other racer. You have no idea what condition his/her car is in. Is he/her going to loose it in second and slam into you? And people can get hurt. I believe that this site would rather you take it to a track.

Yes... NICO certainly doesn't advocate street racing. Now... the track is a whole different story

Ya, I'm sure they'd have no probs if you specified.......hey, lets meet at so and so track. I can't see them flippin out, especially if there's an import or some other specific event you invite them to. Just remember when you beat one of em.....do like Brad Pitt in Troy! haha

I think I made it pretty clear I wanted to race at the track. If I kick the IS350's *** I want a time slip and video

I am a drag racer and have shoe box full of slips. For the past 4 years I've been at the track at least once a month. Hell I won the trophy class at the March Hemi Shootout in my 5000lb truck.

When I said "let me know what you had in mind". I know a ton of un-guarded warehouse parking lots in west valley that you can roll up in on a Sunday morning and do a few races.

IMO that is as safe as the track and private property. I shoot most of my videos in my work parking lot or some of these warehouse parking lots.

Jeff,Kind of strange they locked that thread up so fast. You made it clear that the race would be at a strip and not in an inappropriate location. Guess they don't take well to outsiders over there

I remember you mentioning an upside down 240z, I guess I pushed that thought out of my head as fast as possible hoping it wasn't true. I assume you ended up OK.One of my best friends flew out of a 69 Camaro going about 100 when they lost control and hit the pole and rolled numerous times. ....he landed on his head. Seven concusions. Was supposed to die that morning. Was upgraded to a vegatable later in the week. 6 months coma. He actually ended up leaving the hospital eventually, but was never the same....not even close.

I've seen a 73 camaro eat another telephone pole in my neighborhood.....the pole was in the middle of the hood and still standing!

Back in the day, took my girl home and the neighbor's daughter's boyfriend smoked 'em in front of the house, lost it, got traction and flew thru the yard smashing into her daddy's car! I was just sitting in my car watching the whole thing! anyway, seen some stuff go bad over the years. I'm fortunate to be here. I did some stupid things in a car when I was younger. Be Safe!

why oh why does no one let up on the go pedal when the back end starts to steer???

But ditto on the street racing. I'll race on pp or the track but try real hard not to street race.

Seriously...most people can't think in a panic situation and don't have any concept of how to handle a car in an unintended slide.

Anyway, my 240z went upside down after my friend decided to merge into my lane and brake heavily at 110mph...the Z's brakes locked up and the car went into a slide perpendicular to the curb. Foot off the gas, downshifted to third...brought the car around about 60 degrees but still hit the hurb and rolled twice. I walked away without any major injuries, just road rash and a bone-deep puncture wound on my arm since it went out the window (they were down).

I have been doing mucho so hopefully I made sense!!!

I see what caused the accident.

I used to slide my truck around on purpose but never at speeds like that!

Teenage recklessness and disregard for anything but yourself...

Ironic thing is that the only reason the three of us were in our separate cars was because none of us could legally drive another passenger and we were hungry!

Anyway, one of the worst decisions I have ever made and I learned from it...I was le stupid.

[QUOTE=grantman240z]Teenage recklessness and disregard for anything but yourself... QUOTE]

Been there, done that. As a teenager, used to race, play chase, do 180 degree batman turn arounds.....as you put, disregard for anything but yourself. Very dangerous. NEVER thought of 'What If' and there are a bunch of 'What If's'. Have lost complete control of a car a couple of times, but was lucky not to hit anything or anybody. There are so many things that can go wrong with street racing....

They probably don't want a bunch of threads where they discuss how the IS lost the race...

No offense brother but an G35 X isn't as fast as a G35 J.

Its 95 today and my boss and I were stop watch timing 0-60 runs in 5-5.1 seconds. I bet when the temp drops into the 50's I'll be 4 seconds to 60!

The IS guys are actually pretty cool. Their web site has 'rep'utation points and I've already past some of the suckers I've been fighting with.

My goal is to line up a race with a G37 and an IS350 at the track either Nov 3rd or Nov 11th.

I'm 99% sure I can take the G37 I don't know what will happen with the IS350.

We did some 1/4 mile runs in a parking lot last night. If shift manually and hold 3rd gear I can get a 13 second slip for sure. The car will pull 105 mph in 3rd before it cuts fuel!

No offense brother but I stand corrected!

I was looking for a smiling face clapping but couldn't find one I resisted the temptation of the BS flag LOL.

Nice run, did the other G have VDC turned off? cause I didn't hear any wheel spin and you know mine will light the tire no problem.

How does a 200 lb heavier car beat a car that is otherwise the same?? I was expecting you'd have a hole shot on him and then hed catch you. How did you pull on him above 60?

Driver error? If the guy can't launch/shift or, like you said, left VDC enabled it could explain the gap.

I am really surprised there is that much difference, props to the X driver!

<---here i did it for you ...point well proven...and if for some reason someone still has not made an assumption..yess..there was more than one run done..with both cars in DS D and M modes...vdc on and off.. andout comes were all the same..this was the closest..we both weigh about the same and both cars had about a quarter tank of gas..he had 500 more miles on his.. just to eliminate any other possible misconceptions ..only thing i can think of is the right lane made my car go faster...or maybe cuz mine car is red .hmm..or i think i may just have a super car or something..

Ya, that's weak Sawce. Sounds like something you'd find at the Toyata Echo site.
