My 240 has an issue with overheating and having no power when the idle is set properly on the distributor ( assuming the rest is set correctly ) and when I turn the idle higher it coughs and sputters when accelerating and sometimes stalls when I come to a stop. I have fixed vacuum leaks and replaced spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, Cleaned the distributor cap and had the injectors checked and all were fine but it still has the same problem. There is no check engine light on btw, so i haven't ran diagnostics. I'm sure its something minor that I'm overlooking. Any ideas?

Check cam timing, check electrical timing, check compression.

How are you setting idle by the distributor? Are you refering to the timing? If your turning the distributor for idle your prob advancing the timing to much or retarding the timing too much. To adjust the idle adjust it on the throttle body.

Also re-check and double check for vacuum leaks!!! Its the ones you look over that get ya!!!

Yeah, I meant the timing XD I have to advance it a lot to get it to run decently but its still jerky and stalls almost every time I stop. Thanks, I'm going to try those.
