I agree that it's stupid. There is an interstate being built literally miles from my house. However, I would say that choosing which map data gets on the DVD and which map data gets left off (since the DVD has limited space and only main roads) would require human decision making. This wouldn't be true if there was a script/macro programmed for paring out the data already, but it isn't hard to believe that they might be switching to a newer/different method of publishing map data. It's also irritating that I submitted a fix to them 5-7 years ago and it isn't included on the 2014 disc, so apparently NavTeq sucks in general and we should all look cars that use someone else next time. That having been said, to be fair, I work for a manufacturing company that spends at least as much on robots as we do on cars, and the robot manufacturer doesn't provide support for as long as NavTeq has been providing maps. IOW, I don't think it's right, but I do suspect it's typical.
ETA: Keep in mind (re: robot company) that they make and sell the robot that costs as much as a car while navteq presumably only sells or licenses the navigation unit to Infiniti, if even that.
