no differential required?

Nissan dominates the drift scene - Always has, always will.

so yea, i get my fun out of my little clutch kicks here and there, but my LE 240, with no limited slip , jus burn out my right tire, and dosent get the car sliding, since one tire is slower then the other, wat do other ppl without diffs. do 2 go sideways?

No offence, but if you are asking that question, you shouldn't even be trying.

Well, technically, you can't even transfer the engine's power to the ground without a differential. So, those without diffs, do nothing.

It's totally possible to drift with an open diff. I've seen a guy driving a totally stock s13 drift tandem with a prepped 350z.

Just go to events and practice.

K i dont need 2 brag, im just asking 4 wat is the easiest way 2 drift without a diff, i can slide the car with a open diff right now, but its harder, im just asking 4 opinions

Clutch kick, ebrake initiation, weight transfer, whatever. Just practice.

seto, are you asking for people who drift w/o a clutch type diff, vlsd, welded, or anything other than open differential? cuz right now you are asking people if they drift with out a differential. Its impossible to move the car with out one. So i agree with dude, if your asking that question, you got a lotta work to do.

They save $$ for LSD...and practice in the meantime, seat time is paramount.

Most People I know practice when its raining.......but then again, the people I know practice in the rain while going at speeds when its dry.......If you are practicing in the rain.....PLEASE go 1/3 or 1/2 speed slower then if it was dry, I see so many accidents like that.

most people also practice drifting with telepone poles nearby. that way when they wrap their car around one of them, i guess they can tap into it and make a free 911 call too.

Take the diff out and weld it,its cheap, its good for drift, not very good on tires even just driving around it will eat tires. but its a very cheap solution to the 1 tire fire of our beloved open diffs

No.

If we are talking about grip driving, generally:

Helical/torsen > clutch type > viscous > open > welded

k noob me as u plz

but i though, if ur tryin 2 grip, meanin get fastest time, not most angle, if both tires spin, ull start driftin, slowing down, cant u take a turn a lil faster with one wheel slower and one faster?

if both are spinning same speed, ull initiate a slide

i know im wrong but thats jus what ive though all this time

Your reasoning makes sense, but it's wrong.

Helical is generally the best for grip, because it biases torque to whichever tire has more grip. The difference in power delivery from wheel to wheel is proportionate to the difference in grip from wheel to wheel. It allows a speed differential, while still allowing the most power to go where it can be used to promote acceleration and not wheelspin.

Open diff isn't that great for grip, because if you try to apply power out of a corner, all the torque will go to the inside wheel and spin it, which in turn will cause less cornering grip, due to only one wheel actually gripping.
