- is it just a realtime EPROM emulator, like a built-in full-time Moates Ostrich, feeding emulated fuel/timing table data for the factory ECU program (and easy laptop connectivity and GUI), or- does it contain a completely rewritten ECU program as well, like CROME for the Hondas, with a s***load of extra features?

Because if it's the former, I don't really see the advantage to an Ostrich+TunerProRT, besides easier access once installed.
Its a daughterboard that installs into the "socketted chip" socket. It has a USB connection and allows you to change the tune on the chip via your PC computer. Its like having a tuned chip but being able to change/tweak the chip's tune it at any time without removing it, erasing it, and reprogramming it. Only thing is you start with the OEM basemap so it's on you to get your hands on a tried and true map pulled from a Horsham or Norris Designs chip that matches your setup....or get it dyno tuned and the chip's map tweaked/written based on the dyno run.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. So it's "just" a full-time EPROM emulator, with somewhat easier access because of the USB port, and a nice piece of software.

I think I'll stick with the Moates Ostrich, since I already have one of those. Might purchase a standalone sw licence, though.

I would also love to run a map system and get rid of my z32 mafs. i think i am leaning more and more towards a full standalone. the price of an sds doesnt deter me and the fact that their is more common knowledge towards sds on this board, with easier tuning is important to me. thanks guys, time for more research....
.

Ease of tuning = NOT nistune.. go with a Power FC or SDS if you want "easy" nistune is a pain in the d!ck!

What a load of crap . It's very easy just do a bit of reading. I fully tuned mine in around 3-4 hours. The car sees regular track days and still pulling storong on a home maps. All you need is a wideband and det headphones.
