What is the most mileage you have put on your Nissan or have ever seen personally on a Nissan odometer? Is or was it still running strong? Repair/Maintenance/Issues/Costs?

Where is the "mac" part in this post?

Also, you forgot, people that has to drive long distances back and forth for living.

mac, thanks datechboss , that is a "miss" for me . Yeah . did you know we had a street -crosser get killed by one of the Robot test cars out here , been in a lotta news . Many around here frown on the trend these days to "have everything done for you" , car doing THE DRIVING! , know what I mean. And definitely no cares about seriously answering any "durable" robot-questions :rotfl

My '93 Maxima had 283,000 on the odo when I sold it. I had replaced it with the Q by then, but the reason I got rid of it was the cracked exhaust studs that caused it to fail emissions. Original automatic transmission grenaded at 180,000. Everything else aside from the exhaust studs (which sealed just fine at operating temp) worked great. Replaced a few window regulators and a ground wire (which cost me a few alternators). Other than that, it was supremely dependable for all 280k miles.

I miss that car.

I also hate emissions testing.

My 95 Nissan Maxima had 205,000 on it when I sold it. Still ran like a top. I think the only thing I did to that car was replace the radiator in it while I had it and basic care. Amazing, well cared for car that probably is still going.

I had a 99 Maxima with 199k on it when I traded it in. It was cursed though and I spent a ton on it in the 6 months I owned it. New transmission, new A/C system, valve cover gaskets, knock sensor, coil packs, and the list kept piling up. Beautiful, tastefully modded car that was a pile of garbage underneath.

Those were the highest mileage ones i've had to date. My Pathfinder may get there though if I don't replace it in the next couple of years with something else. It has 160k on it right now and still runs like the day I bought it. Nothing but basic care and normal wear and tear parts.

Let's see, I sold my 1989 240sx at around 190K think, still running strong. It was a fun, tossable, reliable car.

I sold my 02 Altima SL when it had just under 180K, as the engine was on it's last legs. the rest of the car was in great shape. I was disappointed that it didn't last longer.

My current 2003 Infiniti M45 (Nissan family :)) is over 207,800.

The engine is using a lot of oil now though ... just had to add 2 qts at 2k miles after an oil change. :(

mac , that's an unbelievable amount oil going thru szh .Do you think you'll pass emissions next - I'm wondering how much time before your next testing due? ( we can get 2 years "good -for" ) :frown:

My current 240 has who knows how many miles. I bought it with a non-working odometer and swapped my other engine into it which came from a 190k chassis, but the engine was rebuilt.
As a mechanic, I saw many, many MANY 300+k nissans roll through our shop. Most were for minor stuff (this was pre-ghosn era Nissan) like new struts, basic tune-ups, brakes, etc.
The most recent (and only major repair item) was for a bad trans on a ~93 hardbody. It had a tough life and finally gave up at close to 300k. Massive hard part failure that required complete teardown and reassembly of the trans.

Lol, at the tesla. Miles traveled versus miles driven.

I had a manual 97 Maxima that I sold at 210k miles. The car paid for itself many times over and was running strong the day I sold it.

Then there was the 2002 qx4 I got rid of at 313k miles. The engine and key drivetrain components were strong, but the transmission was starting to have issues. That and the serious suspension work and emissions needs meant it had to go.

I've seen a couple Patrols with over 700,000 on the clock.
Both still running strong and going off-road quite a bit.

They are/were quite popular here (Holden closed down all Australian production in 2017)
I'm not sure how they fit in with the American market, but they are a capable agile, and powerful 4 door car.
General consensus is they didn't fare well in the US due to lack of advertising/marketing.
The GTO, then Chevy SS were built here, and then shipped to the US.
They pretty much are Holdens, but then built as LHD and rebadged for the US/UAE markets.

My vehicles do not burn or consume oil. Have been doing AMSOIL 25,000 mile oil changes for 15+ years. We have oil for everyone's needs whether it's every 7500, 1200, or 25000...

DOA, I am very curious based on on the 2 quoted excerpts as well as your posts in our other subforums. What kind of cars do you drive/own/ maintain?

I get the feeling you're a person of varied interests. Me too. And you are fairly consistent in your inquiries

I have a 2002 Pathfinder with 327,000 Kms on it, which is about 200,000 miles. I bought it in 2003.
May not seem like a lot, but considering I live in a Canadian snow city that has winter for 5 months, with lots of salt use on the roads, then you start to realize the Pathy has done extremely well.
You will not see many 17 year old vehicles on the road here, of any brand, especially 17 year old vehicles that have been daily drivers.
Even less vehicles with the mileage I have.
The Pathy has been an outstanding performer throughout. Drivetrain still works perfectly. No major breakdowns or repairs, ever.
I was going to get rid of it this fall, but decided to run it another winter because it was still running strong.
There's rust all over the wheel wells now, and random spots elsewhere, so it looks like crap, but structurally it's still good.
Fingers crossed.

My 1967 RL411 has 160,000 good miles on it and is still running strong. Not very spectacular mileage, but when was the last time you saw a running original configuration RL411 ? It helps that it has the original British Borg Warner M35 bullet proof transmission.

Lowest for its age? My 67RL411 is 52 plus years old with 159,000 miles on original engine [my rebuild at 120,000 miles] and original automatic transmission.

My 2003 G35 Coupe in Caribbean Blue had 177,000 miles on it when I traded it in.

Did not use a drop of oil. And ran perfect.
It had newer shocks all around and never tires all around and new front brake pads.
New window regulator drivers side too.

One of the radio buttons was loose.

I should have never traded it in.. due to milage I got only minimal $$ for it.
I hope whoever got it appreciates it.

My current Xterra is at 142,000 miles BTW..

Called Nissan customer support today for a voluntary recall on passenger restraint air bag system and told me nothing they would do
Asked for a supervisor they told me no
I rather drop dead than buy another Nissan product

^That's the general consensus now a days.
Although, to be fair, a lot of manufacturers now seem to be doing everything they can to stick it to the customer.
GM wasn't very helpful with my Corvette that none of their dealerships could align. Took it to a non-dealer alignment shop and they nailed it first time.
Ford is has a class action lawsuit against them for their awful dry DCTs that are blowing left and right.
Honda had issues with their 1.5 using oil... not sure what the latest on that is.
The list goes on...

I bought my 2017 Mazda 6 (traded the 2006 Altima) thinking that it was a better and more reliable buy than anything Nissan was producing.
I was not going to buy another one (Nissan I mean).
Looks like I was right, for the 2017's.
For the 2018 model year, Mazda introduced cylinder deactivation in their SkyActiv 4 cylinder engine.
Stupid decision, and poorly engineered, for what was maybe a 1mpg gain.
Under certain conditions, the rocker arm for cylinder one....falls off, and can destroy the engine.
They came up with a fix (recall) that's supposed to prevent it. Not a mechanical fix though, but a software fix. Ok.
Not sure how that works, but time will tell.
I'm glad I have the 2017 and not the newer one.
I've already had to have my drivers seat heater element replaced (under warranty), and it turns out this is a common problem across all models.
There are other issues with the latest Mazda models, so now I'm pretty much convinced my next car will not be a Mazda.
Not sure what's next for me. I need a Pathfinder replacement soon though.
