Opinion and Thoughts about the 2019 INFINITI QX50

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

What does everyone think about the 2019 INFINITI QX80? I am really loving the interior it even won Wards top 10 interior of the year.

Are you talking about the QX50 or QX80 (The Big Monster)?

The general consensus here is that most of us feel disappointed in the direction Infiniti took with the new generation QX50. They moved away from performance and driving dynamics, and softened up the vehicle.

It would be an awesome car for mom or someone more interested in comfort (theirs and their passengers) than a sporty fun driving experience. I have now seen a few, and a few different colors too. It is very nice inside and it has a ton of room for passengers and / or storage.
Giving it an optional transmission (even with slightly less MPG)...say a 7-9 speed dual clutch with paddle shifters and maybe a Sport model with a slightly lower ride height and somewhat more aggressive front/rear bumpers would be more of a hit with enthusiasts like us. I have not driven one yet, but I would be shocked if it is more fun to drive than the QX30 Sport.

An Infiniti with....FWD? CVT Transmission? Variable compression engine? A paltry 268 HP? This is the replacement for the 325 HP, rear wheel drive, conventional 6 speed transmission with a torque convertor? known as the QX50? Count me out.

I have no doubt it could be tuned to put out well over 325 HP and it already has more torque...And I don't mind FWD whatsoever...but the CVT kills my buzz.

I get why people on this forum would be opposed. At the same time though, I can't blame Infiniti for doing it. The general car buying public won't care about these complaints, and that will likely result in more sales. It is a business after all.

Very true about being business after all. Sad but true. It just cheapens the brand.

I miss those days when there was no model in the Infiniti line-up with less than 300hp!

I will say one dislike, and there are a few, about my EX is the lack of rear seat room. And I don't even mean leg room for passengers, I don't care about that lol. For me the annoyance is when I drop the rear seats for the cargo room, they don't drop. The headrest hits the back of the front seats and you have to go push them down. And then when sitting in the front and using the console buttons to raise the rear seats, they won't go up for the same reason. And it's not like our seats are far back, I mean we're only 5'9" each. Don't like the move to FWD platform, but the interior room gain would be nice.

Also while not having a V6 and 300hp+, I'm sure the new engine is quite peppy with all the lowend torque. Economy would be nice as well. I have 2 VQ's, my EX and an 07 ZR. They're both pretty thirsty lol.

I removed my rear headrests for better visibility and that solved the release/return of the back seats.
I drove a 2017 QX50...the version of our EX that increased the length and gave the extra room to the back seats... It felt larger, less agile and felt less sporty. I didn't like the extra length.
The 2019 is quite a bit larger

Interesting thought on the headrests. I don't love the idea from an aesthetics standpoint, but that would solve the problem. Thanks for the recommendation.
