Our source at Nissan has confirmed that Nissan is going to apply the NISMO treatment to several different models, including some track-ready, high-performance RS variants.

The Nismo Juke will be the first out of the gate, arriving early 2013. Aside from a unique body kit, tuned suspension and steering, 18-inch wheels and other exterior styling cues, the Juke's 1.6-liter turbocharged engine will get a 28-hp bump to produce 215 horsepower

Believe it or not, the next Nissan coming out of the Nismo skunkworks will be the all-electric Leaf! The Leaf will have exterior styling cues and an increase in power from 110 to 125 horsepower.

The almighty GT-R gets the Nismo treatment in 2013, as will the Nismo Z.

The RS range of models will target those who are looking for track-ready performance. For starters, the Juke RS will boast - get this - 270 horsepower! For true track aficionados, we'll also see RS versions of the GT-R and 370Z. This could mean 600+ hp for the GT-R! :woot:

A lot of this is interesting but it kind of rubs salt in the wound regarding Nissan and some claimed breakdown with Nismo affecting the Altima from Nissan Corporate. It was explained to me that there would never be a front front Nismo spoiler for the 2010-2012 model Altimas. I realize what an Altima is and this is the way Nissan seems to be going with it but they set a precedent and now that I own an Altima I don't appreciate being left out from Nismo in this area as well as the Nismo Exhaust being discontinued. A leaf is getting a Nismo treatment but the Altima doesn't rank anymore? :wtf2: Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

Very cool. A 270hp Juke would be a pretty awesome track machine. After seeing Torrys rip around, I'm a believer. You could also take it 'rex hunting.

I likee! If Nissan does it right and offers manual trannies on the NISMO models, I'll forgive them for the Murano Cabriolet. :dblthumb:

they better get these cars out as early as possible. people are not really inspired with nissan's line-up lately. the fourth generation altima was so plain & boring. completely plain-Jane. between the CVT scaring away gear-heads, and the uninspiring looks of some of the cars = nissan needs to step it up big time, AND SOON.

working on the Nissan Leaf NISMO edition is absolutely stupid. the electric car folks are not impressed with HP. or are they impressed with "sportiness" in general. if they cared, they wouldn't be buying an electric car to begin with. they care about: ions, green leaves, clouds, singing kumbaya by a fire-pit. they need to get a NISMO altima, NISMO sentra, and a NISMO Rogue out.
I'll forgive them for the Murano Cabriolet.
oh thats right! who could forget the murano cabrio mistake. what a disaster.

On the other hand, if they make a 400hp+ 370Z I will be promptly selling my 40th Anniversary and purchasing one.

This is ALL good stuff. The whole "RS" thing really leads me to believe Nissan is moving towards an ACR-type limited line, for people who want a no-frills, club racing platform car with a warranty.

I'm a HUGE fan of the new Alty, and I can see exactly why they've left it off the list. It has moved up-market and is WAY more luxurious than even the prior-generation Maxima. So, I don't see the Nismo treatment fitting for the Altima any longer.

What I DO see coming, and I hope I'm right, is a perfect opportunity for them to do a proper Sentra Spec-V Nismo Edition and RS Edition. Both should be incredible cars.

So I guess we can say bye-bye to hopes of a cheap, fun, RWD platform? I'm guessing they're using the Juke RS or Nismo edition as the car for people that want cheap fun?

I'm kind of excited to see a Nismo or RS GTR go against a Corvette ZR1.

Got any ideas on how much they're gonna retail for?

Is it a huge jump in price?

Yea, the Sentra really needs some Nissan love. The first time I saw a B16, I couldn't believe that's what the Sentra had been reduced to. It was sad. However, it's good to see that Nissan is thinking with performance in mind again. I just hope they don't botch it up

If they do a Sentra Spec V RS, it needs to have the MR16DDT, not the crappy QR. Although, I'm guessing the RS Juke will technically have an MR16DDT-K, going with Nissan's engine naming convention.

While I agree the B16 wasn't as attractive as the B15, when we took the preproduction B16 to a track with some local modded B15's, the unfinished B16 soundly spanked them. It might have looked a little goofy, but it's been a solid performer. The next one should be even more impressive.

I have been asking for exactly this for quite some time now! IT'S LIKE THEY LISTENED!
Ever since I photoshopped a Juke into a WRC car for their "Juke Makeover Competition" (which I couldn't enter in because it didn't follow their rules), I've been begging for a lowered high hp manual AWD juke to go WRX/EVO hunting with.

After driving Torry's, 270hp will be a hoot!

The idea of a 270hp Juke stirs my loins.

They better still be road cars too though....

also, in before Audi attempts a lawsuit on the "RS" name.

No chance of that. There's been "RS" models in a lot of lineups. Can't lay claim to a trim designation to my knowledge, esp if it's made up of letters. Think of how many automakers use "SE" and "GT" and "LX".

Hmm good point. Toyota sued Ford over Lincoln's attempts to name their cars the LS6 and LS8. Said it was too close to LS400.

Not sure how it works if the Audi model is RS4 or RS6 and Nissan uses RS as a trim level.

Juke RS eh? AWD Turbo eh?

Time to sell the 240 rally car it may be. Beware the powers of the open class.

The dark side has been calling me for a while. I have the itch to build a BRZ rally car. G5 would be a blast.
