Hey Guys,

I have a Nissan Rogue SL AWD which I'm guessing has stock Xenon lights. My question is it possible to upgrade the stock bulbs to a brighter bulb almost to those that have a higher bluish color? Thanks in advance!!!

bluer bulbs are not brighter, they actually have less lumens and are therefore dimmer... Your SL does come stock with factory 4300k bulbs and unless you want to spend around $300 for something like Osram CBI bulbs (really isn't worth it to me) then what you've got now is the best youre going to get

You can change to any bulb as long as it is D2R type.
As for the more bluelish color, this is the one I found that I can trust (brand wise) with reasonable price (still expensive)
(google Philips D2R 6000k Flash White 85126WX Ultinon and find the amazon link since I don't know if I am allowed to post the url or not)

Here is some advice that would actually help you... Go to Hidplanet.com and read up on halogen vs HID and the different types of bulbs and optics. This should help you better.

bluer = less light output. 5000-6000k is the purest white light, and the brightest. anything lower goes yellower(less light output) and anything higher goes bluer(less light output as well)

I'd hate to contradict you ImStricken, but 4300k-5000k actually has the most lumens.... 5000k and up has less and less the higher you go...

That is why all OEM bulbs are 4300k... To my recollection, the only 5000k bulb that has the same amount of lumens as 4300k is the Osram CBI bulb.

Your actually both right, 4300K-5000K is supposed to be like daylight pure white and bright The lower in number (K) the more yellowish tint you will get like fog lights, the higher you go the more blueish tint you will get. If you look at ours and an Escalade you will notice that the escalade actually has a blueish tint to the color, same type bulbs D2R just a different heat rating. 6000K has a more greenish tint and upward from there is blueish. Also the wattage will make a difference in brightness vs. color, in other words a 35watt vs 50watt HID system will deff have a much quitter (duller) look to the brightness, if that makes any sense. But be careful on the changing the system out, I've seen some more powerful HID systems melt or discolor the stock light housing. I've personally never experienced it, but I have seen it.

The Lumen number is the key to any bulb's overall brightness. Simply put, the higher lumen rating in a light bulb, the brighter the light. I think some people wrongly assume that the bluish tinted bulbs are brighter, especially in automotive lighting. I've seen some cars out at night with what I call a super blue colored headlight, and all I can think is what a D-bag the driver is.

^ I know that about lumens... I was just saying that the bluer an HID bulb gets, the less lumens it has and therefore the dimmer it is... Generally 4300k-5000k has the most lumens

You can simply replace your OEM xenon bulbs with 5k bulbs if you want your light to emit a more blueish hue.

I have a 2008 Rogue with xenon low beams. I had a low beam burn out, was able to get it out but am having problems putting the new one in. Because of its location, it's hard to tell where the notches go and how to reconnect. Does anyone have a pictorial or YouTube site that would give a step by step instruction. I've looked already and found one but you're unable to see how exactly to place the bulb. Any help would be appreciated
