No, I'd love to hear about your friend who actually made the one-in-a-million shot. My point was to say it's just not all that common. But thanks for the mention.

Upon further consideration, I'd like to submit this as April 2012's Understatement of the Month.

Disregard my prior comment.

Sure I could do a bit better with time, but even if I did my best, there are others who could do better. So does anyone want to help me, I am sure if the right persons help me maybe a Nissan or infiniti lmr could happen. If no one wants to help I'll just give up, because I can't do it by myself.

"So what are my chances?"
"One in a million."
"YES!! I still have a chance"
Dumb and dummer movie
Don't worry I am not that dumb, I know when to give up.

McLaren beat you to the punch. :)

The MP4-12C's M838T twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 is based on the VRH35z used in the R390 and other Nissan Le Mans cars from the 80s and 90s (and adapted to street use as the VH in the Q45 and other models).
Ferrari got bored with it and added more cylinders and chucked the turbos.

The twin turbo part, I believe the F40 was some good flat crank Ferrari V8 goodness.

Infiniti currently IS working working on a mid-engine supercar.

Whether it'll make production or not, who knows?

Like the Lexus LFA? I dunno. It's possible, but both Nissan and Infiniti are marques that cater to the masses, so I'm not sure a mid six figure priced supercar fits either's customer demographics.
In my opinion the GT-R's price is right at the limit (or slightly beyond) what I would consider paying for a Nissan/Infiniti product. I could probably pay what they're asking for the GT-R, probably because it is as good if not better than the competition for WAY less money. However at mid 6 figures, I'd be looking at a lambo, ferrari, or something else with the prestige that goes along with it, because at that point its beyond what the car actually is, its what it is to everyone else...

In general, supercars are useless in terms of a car you could actually live with, you only buy one because you can.

I just got this month's Motortrend and on page 20, there it is: the Infiniti Emerg-E. Looks like Infiniti looking at jumping into the limited production supercar market but is looking at different direction than recycling/updating an old LeMans race car. It's going to be a hybrid, hopefully without a stinkin' CVT. They are already 18 months into its development.

FWIW on the same page, the magazine also discusses Nissan's recent investment with the Delta Wing LeMans car.

Sorry Nismo driver 81, it was a good idea, but it doesn't appear Nissan is gonna be interested.

LOL, Nissan hasn't done anything exciting in nearly 15 years. You think they're going to build anything remotely like this? Plus a 5 year old Necropost? And no link? WTH?
