I bought a 94 hardbody with the single cam 2.4 in it it has a knock to it so I pulled the motor and it has a bad rod bearing. Is this motor a ka24e?

Yes, SOHC KA is the KA24e.

Typically bulletproof, but a good opportunity to do a DOHC swap!

I believe the timing chain ate the guides and trashed the pickup and starved for oil

If you go with the frontier KA24de its a direct swap.

Find a wrecked Frontier, or search "KA24DE frontier engine for sale."

You need a truck motor. A DE motor from 1993 is going to likely be from a 240SX, which I believe has a different bell pattern and won't bolt up to a truck trans.

You need a 98-04 truck motor.

That's the thing I already got the motor in bolt it up to the transmission everything lineup good but when I went to hook up the wires for the distributor the 97 has a built-in coil and 93 does it and I'm wondering if I just probably have to splicing into the harness and put a coil in that's the only thing I can think of or that or like you said get a new motor got any ideas

Since you have the 97s wiring harness, I'd check if the distributor from a 97 would fit in the 93 motors distributor opening. If not, see if the front timing cover from a 97 will bolt onto the 93 motors block.
The distributor bolts into the front cover and its gears mesh with those of the crank sprocket and oil pump.
Check the part # and pics for the front cover from both a 93 and a 97 that way you can ensure they're compatible before buying/installing.
