But thats the power of the Fanboy: the ability to completely ignore all facts contrary to your point of view...

Spoken like a true SR fanboy. The VQ30DET was actually campaigned in the Super GT500 GTR's. Can you say the same for any SR?

And the debate on engine harmonics? Laughable. The VQ has been a world renowned & award winning engine since it's debut in 1995. It's fine if you don't know anything about the VQ30DET, but it's not fine to make uneducated statements like I4>V6 or SR>All...

I guess you must have forgotten the new GTR uses a V6, too...
No fan boy, i had one and wasnt that impressed in stock form.... Trust me show me as many 600+ hp VQs as there are SRs. Award winning maybe in car and driver or motortrend, but not in a race car. BTW the new GTR is trash comprably to any of it's predecessors. Mainly because of the V6, but enjoy grenading the weakest bottom ends ever.

This is so out and out wrong it's hilarious. I'm not about to get into and engine vs engine debate with you, because that's not what this thread is about and sharing my knowledge with you would be a waste to time.

Seriously? I wish I could e-slap you for being so ignorant. Go google this stuff before you make ridiculous claims.

in regards to sr vs vq...

lets not forget that an SR was in JGTC back in 01-02 season (ah those were the good days, esp when they came over to the California Speedway, but thats a different story).. BUT it only competed in the GT300 class.

imo, SR would ONLY sustain in a gt300 class.

the difference between sr and vq... the power curve. For an sr to compete in a gt500 would be dumb. Assuming you have a ~500hp sr... you'd only get power at very high rpms... too slow. You'd get lapped as soon as you get power. you needs moe pistons

oh and anyone that says the GTR is trash compared to the older Skyline GTRs automatically loses all automotive credibility....

you must be comparing a modified r34/33/32 to the current gtr or something... cuz you're waay off

IIRC the new GTR motor is based on the VRH35L a V8 used in the R390 Lemans car.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Nissan/nismo engineers know how to build race motors.

While the RB is a potent motor, wouldn't the I-6 design makes it difficult to place for optimal weight balance?

Adrian, I agree with everything you said. And thanks for posting that C-West s15! I've always loved that car... but it is starting to look a little dated by todays standards...

Also, I'll add that after Nissan ran the VQ30DETT in Super GT for a few years, I think they replaced it with a high output VK or VH... But I love the idea of the VQ30DET for use in an S-chassis/street car, because it's so much lighter than Nissan's V8's or even an LSx for that matter...
