OK im tired of hearing that our car has a "truck engine". I KNOW the KA24 was in the 89-90 240SX BUT in 89 and 90 wasnt the Z24 still in the hardbody trucks? If im right there that doesnt say our cars have a "truck engine" that says the hardbodys have a "sportscar engine". Also dont the Maxima and Stanza have a KA motor?

And also doesnt the hardbodys share another engine with a nissan sportscar? VG30....both the hardbodys and 300ZX have this. So i guess the 300ZX has a truck engine.(and i know the 300ZX had a VG30 long before the hardbody)

Im not trying to be an *** or anything but come on, just because the hardbody and 240SX share a engine doesnt mean one has a truck engine or one has a sportscar engine.

Ill check in my repair book for the Nissan trucks to make sure of what years had what motor and IF im wrong ill correct myself. Its 1am and i dont feel like walking to the shop. Been working on the 620 lately......................

Agreed, this whole "truck engine" thing is way out of hand. Besides the fact that it was basically some little naming thing that I think Sport Compact Car started, the KA24 is simply an engine. While some engines are designed specifically for certain cars, some are designed for multiple uses (i.e. most manufacturers' point of view) in order to reduce cost. Does it really matter that my cars engine is the same engine as that of a truck? Of course not (and yes I know I've got the DE in the 91 so it doesn't really have the same engine...). If you think about it, how many Chevy's out there have a small block in it, be it a truck or muscle car, heck I've seen plenty of Pinto's with V8s in them. Its part of what makes hotrodding so interesting: taking any vehicle and any engine and making it into something better and faster than the original. Calling it a "truck engine" was just a term that misunderstanding jackholes used to help them feel better. That we've continued using the term kinda sucks but it is easier to say than KA24de all the time.
