JLo Addict: Hellototalboost1: hey!JLo Addict: You the same guy I talked to before??totalboost1: yep, I slightly recall your name! :-)JLo Addict: Ok, I have a couple questions for you which are very important...totalboost1: go for it...JLo Addict: You warranty...if someone were to get a bad motor how does the exchange for a new one work? Who pays shipping? Restocking fee?totalboost1: well all are engines are tested and inspected before shipping, in a case where the engine does not work, we take it back, at our expensesJLo Addict: I am a member or a VERY large forum, I suggested we raffle an sr, valued at 1500 and many say any sr for 1500 is junk and with a warranty you'll be asked to pay LARGE shipping costs and restocking feeJLo Addict: so you are telling me that if I were to get a bad motor there would be NO further shipping charges for me to pay or a restocking fee?totalboost1: actually shipping is cheap, you pay for the shipping 100%, we don't make any money theretotalboost1: yes basically I am saying thatJLo Addict: i pay shipping to ship a bad motor back?totalboost1: nooototalboost1: well what happens is there's no way you will ever get a fully disfunctional engine, we don't ship those, we keep them for partsJLo Addict: but if i were to get one that slipped through the cracks somehow i would be covered and not liable for any other shipping or restocking costs? yes or no?totalboost1: correct (yes)JLo Addict: thanks i'll post this information

So with that, I will argue with the decent motor for 1500 thing. If you guys really want a certificate then give the people what they want. I just wanted to prove that there is someone completely guaranteeing a good motor for 1500 bucks

my point is, if this guy is going to tell me this online, I could get it in writing with a signature if I wanted which would probably be a good idea if you were going to send him 1500 bucks.

here is the rest of my convo with a rep from total boost...just for further info for anyone interested, not for argument purposes

JLo Addict: but if i were to get one that slipped through the cracks somehow i would be covered and not liable for any other shipping or restocking costs? yes or no?totalboost1: correct (yes)JLo Addict: thanks i'll post this informationtotalboost1: if anyone calls the toll-free number make sure to tell them to mention this, it's an important factorJLo Addict: ? I dont understand? Call you guys? for what? and why mention this?totalboost1: well what happens is to order you call my supplier directly, this is meanwhile my warehosue is setuptotalboost1: sorry for the confusiontotalboost1: these are my terms, aswell as the suppliers but make sure to let people know about what we jsut discussed, it needs to be mentioned upon ordering!totalboost1: just to make everything clearJLo Addict: what do they need to mention?totalboost1: about the no shipping, and no restocking feetotalboost1: the supplier will understand, but it always helps him if he's awareJLo Addict: he needs to be reminded that upon returning a bad motor that he is liable for shipping costs?totalboost1: well it's not gonna happen, but yes!JLo Addict: alright, no problemtotalboost1: sorry about all the confusion!totalboost1: it'll be much better when my warehouse will be ready!JLo Addict: no problem....thanks a ton...i'll post this information....totalboost1: no problem, let me know if you have any other concernstotalboost1: you can post my email too for other peopletotalboost1: [email protected]JLo Addict: alright...one last question...totalboost1: go for itJLo Addict: would you be willing to provide this in writing, your warantee and no shipping costs on bad motor guarantee?JLo Addict: this would be something that would weigh in alot on guys to try you outtotalboost1: hehe, that's why I would want people to let the supplier know, so he can do exactly thatJLo Addict: and he would be willing?totalboost1: most likely!JLo Addict: but who would we be paying? the supplier or you?totalboost1: the supplierJLo Addict: alright thankstotalboost1: no problem!totalboost1: oh and tell them to mention Andre if they want those pricesJLo Addict: will do, thankstotalboost1: :-)

I dunno, something about that whole talk to his supplier thing seems fishy? but hey, its your money, and its obvious this thread is going no where:) start a new thread (in the SR forum) maybe and see what other people think!

so this guy doesnt even HAVE the engines, and if we decide to buy an engine we dont deal with him at all.... I dont see how what this guy says has any bearing on what the actual deal would be.

Not that it's possible to convince me this is a good idea (its not), just for the sake of argument...

like i said before, i am done with dealing with "bargin motors". Ill take my buisness to the extremely reputable, resonably priced, highly respected shop anyday over some dude with a website and AOL instant messanger.

i got ripped off too, it doesnt matter if u get a really good deal if u end up paying more than u would have for a good motor to get the one u have to run.

btw, that guy u had the convo. with sounds like an idiot.

so about that raffle...it seems to the majority of us that the 1500 bucks would best be spent in the form of a gift certificate. then maybe that 1500 could be used towards a nice SR clip (or for the rest of us, a KA-T Kit,) or suspension or wheels or anything! but its required you gotta do a write up in the end.

LittleBrotherSilvia out of curiosity why does he sound like an idiot? I mean this as an honest question, I don't understand why you said that. His company markets the engines. Alot of motor retailers don't import the motors themselves. If you go and buy a new car is the salesman that sells it to you the guy who bought it from the manufacturer to resell? Is he the one who personally takes your money when you pay for it??? Hell no he's not, he just represents the dealer, who is the one that purchased the car to resell. These guys just sell the motors for the importers and get a cut of the profit. This guy is not an sr specialist, he sells all kinds of motors from mazda rotory to ej20t's for the wrx's. He claims he has a buddy that knows alot about nissan engines and he may or may not but none the less I'm just relaying information and possibly trying to be helpful to anyone looking for a good deal. I don't have an sr, I don't plan on buying one soon cuz I don't even have an s13 yet. My car's for sale and when it sells I'll start looking but my point is I was just trying to help other people. I completely understand the frustration that would be related to getting screwed out of your hard earned cash but it wasn't my fault and it wasn't this guy so don't take it out on myself or him. I understand that because of the amount of ppl getting screwed and the number of people willing to screw you without a second thought that you need to be very cautious. This is why I was just trying to go some extra distance to see if this guy was possibly legit.

Fiznat-From what I understand, we do deal with him, he sets up the sale like a salesman does.

J-Spec Tuner-No disrespect meant, but don't throw that "over some dude with a website and AOL instant messanger" stuff in my face. I don't represent him, but like I said I recently saw their site for the first time, and it "looked" good as far as price, warranty, and guarantee goes. I was doing nothing more than trying to provide a favor for anyone who is looking for an sr (which on this board is alot of people) and giving them a chance to check into it further if they needed to. Yes a short aim convo and a website does not mean good trusting individual, but in the short convo he made it through many obstacles that would have already failed, such as the no returned shipping costs on returned motors" thing. I'm just trying to help and learn. I'm new to nissans/infinitis. I'm new to import performance. Just trying to do my homework so that some day I might be able to get a "good" deal and still not get the shaft at the same time. Just trying to help and learn guys....

I agree stutt, I'm open for a certificate if thats what people really want, I honestly thought there would be more of a demand for an sr giveaway but since there's not that's fine. Didn't mean to turn this into a big argument over a engine retailer.

Its all good man, dont worry about it at all. If you want to do some research for real, search these boards for posts about "Afterdark Tuning," "Adam Doud," and "Dauntless." Also "nomoremr2" (I think thats it) and "flashoptions"... there are so many more as well.

We dont mean to jump on ya at all man... just all the scammers who come around these boards like every day, it pretty much made each and every one of us VERY untrusting and wary of new companies. I dont care what this guy says on AIM: if nobody I know has bought a good engine from him, I refuse to be the guinie pig and take the risk the first time.

We appreciate the time you spent to check this out, we do, just dont waste anymore time, heh... nobody is going to go for this one.

cwc2k1...there is at least 1 person PMSing around here every day, and EVERYTHING can turn into an argument about something.

That's cool. I wouldn't want to be the first one either. Maybe someone will and if they do they'll post it. Here in a few months I may start a thread seeing if anyone has dealt with them. Oh yea, I know I'd want ALOT more of a guarantee than an aim convo too, but I just meant that as a start so that if someone wanted to look into it further and do some more research they could. Thanks for being understanding....later

If the pot was for spending at one of the NICO sponsors, one COULD get a motor with it (Heavy Throttle, Enjuku, others) and be even more assured of a safe deal.

why yes it was my idea.......all MY IDEA!!! j/k

im just thinking this over and why are we set at $1500? i dont even think we'll get half that much at $10 a pop, but who knows. we just need to get a bunch of enthusiasm going in the other thread fiznat started to get people into this idea and interested. otherwise this will eventually become just "another idea". although i hope this does pull through. are u guys thinking of doing one single poll that has a quite large pot? or did u like my idea of having multiple polls throughout the year that would prolly have a smaller turn-out?
