June is shaping up to be a very long month.

I head out tomorrow afternoon with my first stop Friday morning in Fontana, CA to pick up two sets of brand new Federal Motorsports Semi Slick FZ201 tires. We'll be debuting the tires here in the US for Federal Motorsports. No sponsorship, yet, just a feeling out by both parties to see if our car and their tires get along. If so, we might be talking turkey after Pikes Peak.
Friday night I finally get to meet our fearless NICO leader...and her Husband Greg...Somewhere in the greater Phoenix area for a quick meal before pressing on to Dallas.
Once we get to Dallas the real work begins. There is a laundry list of things that still need to be completed, including the final tune, before we head off to Hallett Raceway in Oklahoma to test the new tires. The Hallett event is a NASA Time Trial and will be held on June 11th and 12th. If you're anywhere near the venue, please stop by and say hi.
After Hallett we drive straight on to Colorado. I'm going to find a quiet, uninhabited, graded gravel road and see how the new tires like the dirt. Hey Ian, can I borrow your dirt skills for a minute...please?
Short week then we have the Global Rallycross event at PPIR. I am helping a few friends who are running the series, and covering it for another web-site I've been doing some writing for.
As soon as that's over, it is Pikes Peak week. Tech Tuesday, Practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tiring and stressful are the norm and I expect this year to be just the same. Then finally, Sunday, we get to make our one and only shot for the glory.

Hope you can join us for some of the fun. If not, keep your eyes peeled...we'll be posting updates and photos as the weeks roll on.

ken.

WOOOO!

Guys, this is huge. Join us in supporting Ken and FMR as they tackle the Peak in what's likely the only 240sx on the mountain!

Also, please pass Ken's info (a link to this thread would be fine) along to people in the biz - Ken and the 240 can always use some last-minute sponsorships!

Ken, go kick some a$$ and make it to the top in one piece.

I would so love to go to Pikes Peak, but I started my new job today, so getting any time off will be rather tough.

Good luck sir, and if you have any questions, you should still have my email, or you can hit me up on FaceBook.

Thanks everyone! I did forget to mention...My one and only Crew member (crew chief, really) is Anthony (Pezi)! He kicked arse last year for us and decided all that punishment wasn't quite enough.
Should be a really great time.

Ian, text me your contact info: 707-225-4550. We can always use another big brain on the project. Thanks!

So...First leg of the 2011 journey completed. Made it to my Grandfathers house in SoCal safely and made pretty good time from the Bay Area. Just six hours door to door, including a pit stop and a roll through the In-N-Out. Finishing some work work tonight, then a good sleep before picking up the new Federal Motorsports tires tomorrow morning in Fontana. Also going to make a quick stop in Redlands to see fellow Hill Climber, Roy Tomkins. His 1980 Corolla is finished and ready for the Peak. Wait till you see some of Roy's fab skills. WOW. Double wow. I'll post photos...
Then off to AZ.

Bye.
Ken

What he really meant to say is that this little 2 person team of grassroots misfits with a pink car are going to go after some big name teams!

Rod Millen is in the mix this year driving Rhys' Genesis, and back comes the current record holder, Jeff Zwart in the Porsche. Also being thrown into the mix this year is my rookie hopeful, and racing buddy, Robert Thorne! This guy is a machine, and it will be awesome to see someone else I race with locally kicking some a**. He'll be in an SCR Performance sponsored Audi A4.

Well, today was the first day of testing on the mountain for some teams. So far I've only heard from Savannah Rickli, last years' rookie of the year and fellow local racer. She was very happy with the new Federal Tires, which our pink car will also be running this year! Ken is on the road still, and should be testing out the tires for us here soon. I meet up with him again in a little over a week, and then the madness begins! Stay tuned. This year is gonna be awesome!
