NICO was hacked today at about 8am EST by a person (or persons) in Kuwait. The hacker destroyed our user database, and it appears it took over EIGHT HOURS for them to do so.
Once alerted, however, our intrepid webmasters, Teksolvers, restored the site using backups from approx. 2am EST today, so many late night/early morning posts were lost.
The site was completely restored in approximately 40 minutes. We are still working on some minor lingering issues that remain unresolved, and Todd has banned ANY and all traffic from that country at our primary firewall.
As an added "screw you" to the hacker(s), they are currently being barraged with an enormous stream of data from several Teksolver servers, which should render their pathetic dial-up connections inoperable for days, if not months.

I just want everyone to know that we are aware of the problems and we are working on it fixing it.
As I pondered the reality that we had been hacked this morning, I thought, "WHO would want to hack NICO?"
I was then reminded of the scene in "Pirates of the Caribbean", where the Commodore tells Captain Jack Sparrow: "You have got to be the WORST pirate I've ever heard of."
To which Sparrow replies, "Aye, but ye HAVE heard of me!"
BIG PROPS to Scott (NISTECH) for sounding the alarm, Torry (EZcheese) for waking Todd in the middle of the night, and most of all, Todd at TekSolvers for kicking some Middle Eastern hacker punk a$$!!!
