So do the switches complicate the installs?

Can I get a pic of what the finished job will look like? I don't want a random switch and people asking "What The **** Is That" you know? And people playing with it and whatnot.

um, its a on/off switch like everything in the world uses. Your glovebox has one for the trunk, I plan on installing mine there as soon as I can find a matching switch. its only as complicated as stripping a little bit of the 2 wires and wrapping them on the switch and putting the switch where you want it. Im sure if you REALLY wanted you could have just 1 program put on the ECU so you don't need a switch (but I rather have 10 then 1)

My car is still out of action while I try to get ANOTHER coolant hose Last one I hope :P

What is that switch in the glove box for? I never quite figured it out.

Would I have to drill a whole to mount the switch? And if it's just a two position switch, how do I go through the programs?

A two program ECU just needs an on/off switch. If you get one with more than two programs you will need a multi position switch with as many contacts as you have programs. It's really not that complicated and if you get one it'll make more sense when you look at it and I'm sure Wes will provide decent instructions.

It disables the door mounted trunk release. The concept being that you lock the glove box, and only provide the Valet with the "valet key" which will only unlock the doors and start the car, but not open the trunk or glove box.

Hope that helps.

lol it even has a picture of a trunk on it. I think he meant the NICO ECU switch people are putting in the gbox.

Anyone need a core? zerothread/273926

Well thank you for my ECU Wes, it is as if I have a totally different auto. The take off is something to behold and while I have not pushed it, I just got new brake pads today, over the weekend I plan on seeing exactly how she performs in stage 2. This vehicle is much more powerful than I had ever imagined and I am very pleased to own mine.....next the braided steel brake cables.

Thanks for comments hussain, im glad you liked it.

For everyone else, I am putting ECU's on the back burner until I get my adapter plate taken care of. Its getting very close and I dont want to distract myself with the ECU's just yet...

As with all things an extra $100 or two might persuade him to focus on your ecu reprogram.

So i'd be looking at like 250 for an ECU?

When everyone else paid less? No thanks. I'll wait. It'll be winter soon and I won't be focused on speed. Better to wait till spring.

actually except the really early ones paid $250. The last 2 or 3 batches have been $250 (within the last year)

yeah?

Well, in any case, I'll just wait until the new ones are ready. Question. Does it come with the switch and stuff like that?

You can buy a switch for a couple of dollars at auto, electronics or hardware stores.

It is almost impossible to mess up. Just buy a simple 2 position switch. It will have two terminals. Connect one part of the wire to one terminal, and the other part to the other terminal. The switch will allow a current to flow through when it is in the on position, and will prevent one from flowing in the off position.

But I thought this thing has like a jillion settings (approximately). A two position switch wouldn't cover it all would it?

Peter, where the HELL have you been???? I will be able to do 94s with TCS.

on the 2 way switchers, it comes with a wire that you splice in a single switch too (like bonestock said). on the 4 way switchers, it will come with a switch that you use.

go buy a switch for $2 right now. You just wrap one wire around one end, the other around the other end. Its that easy, there is NO way to mess it up

when you get your ECU it is really obvious. It doesnt matter until you get your ECU anyway...

Here is an example. You buy a multi position switch available at most electronics stores like Radio Shack. I personally like to buy from Mouser.com. Here is a link to one I've used in the past but it may not be best for this. There are many different configurations. You can get switches that have only a few positions to a dozen positions. You shouldn't need more than 4 for this application. As Wes said, it doesn't really matter because he supplies a suitable switch when you buy the multi switcher.

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/...5.pdf

Here is an example diagram I threw together. The switches will have a common lead that will connect to a common from the ECU. Then one wire to each output terminal to the corresponding ECU program input. Turn the dial to the program you want and prepare for launch!

I hit the 7400 rpm rev limiter for the first time today. Seems like the engine still wanted more though. Amazing.

Wes, I need some info. Without having seen the stage 1,2, or 3 maps I'm not sure how they are setup. I will have my turbo up and running shortly for some initial testing. I want to go easy on it but need to know if you (or anyone else) thinks it would be better to run it with the stock ECU or with my NICO stage 1 ECU. Does the stage 1 NICO ECU run leaner or richer than stock? Also, now much timing is added with the stage 1 ECU over OEM? Too much for a turbo application?

Thoughts anyone that knows? I will eventually have a boost program worked out but need to know what you guys think I should start with.
