Go with the 235/50/18 255/45/18 setup.

The 235/45 is stupid because you're making fronts smaller than stock diameter and pairing it with the 255/45/18 which is larger than stock diameter which is just asking for problems.

The guy you talked to sounds like he was trying to pull a fast one on you.

Unless she's a car enthusiast or you're one of those super practical couples, I'd think about something else to go along with it.

Monotony (sp) is a sure fire way to make a marriage/relationship miserable. You go from lovers>friends, lovers=friends, lovers<tolerable acquaintances.

At least that's what I've seen others experience. None of that for me, thank you very much.

I mentioned this post to my wife last night. She had a great idea.

Buy the tires, stuff them with something she REALLY wants. Whether it be a bunch of bags from a clothing store she likes (obviously empty, with one gift card) some jewelry...whatever.

Stick cardboard in the wheels wholes so she can't reach in, then wrap all of the tires.

You'd be amazed at how happy and surprised she'd be.
