Hey everybody, Ive been waiting for years to own a 300zx and ive finally bought one! A 90' 2+2 (unfortunately) twin turbo straight out of Japan. I bought it with Rotas and HKS suspension , other than that its stock. I have some basic TLC and maintenance to do but it pulls hard and runs good. Ive been doing some searching on performance mods specifically supporting mods for more boost (running stock 9psi now, looking to run 14psi.) First things first i need an exhaust.. I was thinking AMS manifold, AMS downpipes and from then on im confused. Ive had a lot of problems finding test pipes for a 2+2 tt? Can anybody point me in the right direction? I should point out that i would like the whole exhaust system from the manifold all the way back to cost no more than $1500 if possible.. Also what else do i need? Heres my list of wanted items so far..

-JWT pop charger
-Powertix Grounding kit
-JWT ecu
-SRT8 Brembo BBK
-AEM or Defi boost gauges
-Hardpipes

This will be my first heavily modified car as well as my first nissan! I know its not an ideal start due to the difficulty to work on the vg30 but whatever, if anybody can just give me basic instructions for say 400hp maybe a little more id be very grateful! Thanks everybody, cheers

Stay away from AMS, they aren't quality parts. The saying "you get what you pay for" really applies to z32's. With it being a swapped TT 2+2 it'll be difficult to go out and buy a exhaust for it, you may have to have one made at a shop.

Here's your fish for the day, but I'll show you how to fish too lol
Here's a starting place
http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=1079
From there you need injectors and bigger intercoolers and intercooler piping. When you get injectors you have to get a ECU tune though so you may want to get a tune and injectors at the same time. Also the stillin dual intake is a good choice. Then it's turbos (http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=3084 or http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=1451 if you want moar powah) and a upgraded clutch and pressure plate will be needed. Your clutch will definitely start slipping under boost at this point.

Z1motorsports has "power packs" with horse power estimations and those are a good place to start but I would also read through the build lists of the other guys on here to see what they've done and what they ended up with to see what you can or can't do.

No swap here its a JDM 2+2 turbo, and unfortunately its an auto :( haha but nonetheless it doesnt need much for the psi increase other than exhaust and an ecu really.. Turbos are good for 13.5 or 14, the intercoolers are too. I basically wanna go to 400hp and thats enough for me.. Its just a matter of taking the first step to get things going, so if not ams then whats the next choice? I really cant afford more than 1000 before taxes and shippin and what not..

Ah, alright. Missed that, my bad. Well, Lebree and Z1 downpipes work pretty good from what I've heard. Importpartspro.com has the mike smith manifolds and I've heard fantastic reviews on them. Pair those with the Z1 down pipes and there ya go.

Not a problem. I would still do piping and intercooler upgrades. It'll make your turbos not work as hard and cool your intake air more efficiently. But you know what you want out of your car and what capital you have to work with to do it. I understand, I'm in the middle of my N/A build and my pockets are getting dusty lol

Ill be doing hardpiping for sure and the intercoolers eventually but for right now the stock ones will work alright haha. My pockets are cringing just thinking about it but i know itll all be worth it when its just the way i want and it eats everything else on the road! Lol

Haha yeah I understand how you feel. You should see all the crap I'm having to do to mine. second-motor-pull-this-year-t580489.html I'm about 4g's in and I'm not even doing half of what i want to. Honestly though, you should get a rear subframe from a N/A z32 and throw it on yours. Delete the HICAS nonsense and jump from 3.73 rear gear to a 4.10 rear gear. It'd make a huge difference. It's not super expensive and really all you need is the subframe, bushings and a HICAS delete kit. My stock Z could hang with 5.0 mustangs with exhaust and intake up to 60 mph (on closed roads wink wink). My saving grace we're those rear gears. Something to look into.

HICAS delete is happening for sure, theres a little play in the system right now and id rather just get rid of it then try and fix it.. And thats a possibility, im not reeeaally looking to race haha and if anything itll just be my buddies who mostly have cute little 240s ;) if i get more serious ill deffs do the subframe, as of right now though i have other things id rather do.my car as is can take a 5.0, running like 4.5 or so 0-60 :D
