I was being naive when I said that. and down right wrong.

what I mean is that we cant openly trust our goverment... we havent really been able to do that ever since the federal reserve solidified itself.

and I think they see the 1st and 2nd amendment as a threat to their agenda.

A citizens revolt at some point in the next 100 years is what we'll need... the fed is too powerful

I don't know, it seems that they're enacting their agenda pretty handily right now even with those amendments in place.

If you want a citizens revolt, vote for people who support your beliefs. Voting is how Americans revolt.

In the modern era, this is plainly not the case. No arms possessed by the citizenry in this day and age would provide any sort of defense against modern US military forces.
Have you told Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Viet Cong this? Obviously they never got the memo.

Seriously, you sound like Chuckie Schumer. He made this comment once years ago and it grossly under estimates so many factors. I obviously disagree with your assertion.bud

Again, you're referencing situations wherein there is an occupying force that is being fought by guerrillas.

I don't entertain the idea of an "occupying force" here. The US military is made up of citizens, and the average US soldier isn't going to stand on a street corner and threaten his fellow citizens at gunpoint for the fun of it. That isn't going to happen.

Thus, the ONLY viable situation is one wherein a few crazy people get control of weaponry that can cause a lot of destruction quickly. A situation where the aim is EXTERMINATION, not OCCUPATION. In this situation, which is the ONLY potentially viable one, small arms aren't going to help anyone. If a small cabal of people in the Government decide to, for instance, use nuclear arms on US cities in some kind of crippling coup attempt, you and your SKS aren't likely to deter them.

Our primary disagreement is that you entertain the possibility of a general martial-law occupation and I do not. The soldiers, sailors, and marines I know would not fire on US citizens even if ordered to. That's not the kind of military we have, that's not the kind of society we have.

What is this one world bank everyone is pushing for? What happens to us?
I have contemplated digging a bomb shelter. But I have lots of ammo. I only have 2 guns at the moment. A trusty 9mm Browning high power, and a Browning 12 gauge. I'm probably going to get a 9mm carbine so I can buy lots of 9mm ammo..it's so cheap. Then I'll buy a SKS or something cheap so I can reach out and touch people from a little farther away.

I'm also really good with explosives.

Then there's the flame thrower option...real easy to make and everyone fears fire.

Something you might want to read up on, 2012. You can torrent the movie from all over and they have numerous websites. Lots of really interesting stuff.

While the situation isnt the same, a lot of the forces and mechanics are the same. Whether foreign or domestic an occupying force is just that, an occupying force.

Now I need to go stock pile my ammunition and pot stickers for this whole NWO thing.

It is just an unstoppable force that will enact its will on the People.

But that is really not the point why I stockpile arms. It is so when this events happens, I can kick down your door and steal all your stuff. j/k

YOU were the person that used this example, not I. Dont turn this on me and attempt to make me out to be some crackpot. I am a self admitted crack pot, thank you. I dont need your help. But I really have to ask, why do you keep bringing up this scenario? Is there something going on behind the scenes that we need to know about? Stewie Griffin?

But hey, this has never happened in the history of our country. Nope, not once.

I'd fire on US citizens...

When I was rescuing people after Katrina a whole bunch of people shot at us because they thought we were patrolling and trying to infringe upon their right to loot the stores and homes of other unfortunate people. If I had a mini hanging out of my window you bet your a** we would have returned fire. The general rule is that you can never fire first, but once you've taken rounds...not a court in the world would find me guilty of anything but self defense.

Not that the above is even remotely related...I'm just saying that if there were a general break down in Society I'd shoot anyone armed if I were A) given the order or B) fired upon.

I doubt this will come to pass though. My only worry is defense of my family and property from others that have nothing left to lose. So they do what they have to. Riots and theft are easily something that could come to pass. Luckily in TX I can shoot you for almost anything if I percieve a threat and you're on my property.

All this talk is reminding me that I need to fill up the old K5 Blazer with fuel and fill all my gas/propane cans. Maybe I'll pick up a couple 20 gauges for the boy and wifeunit2000.

You've got me man, I hate this scenario/conversation.

Kalypso brought it up as he was talking about hoarding guns as a hedge against some kind of possible government takeover/doomsday situation.

I thought it was ridiculous, I said so, and you entered the conversation.

I think there are lots of great reasons to own/carry firearms, but defending myself against a government gone Rogue isn't one of them, IMO. I think it's a silly argument used by silly people that makes all gun owners look like nutcases even when they aren't. It makes me *mad* when people use it, because I think that it makes pro-2nd Amendment folks look like idiots to the rest of America.

Owning guns is necessary for protective carry, home defense against criminal intruders, hunting, collecting, and target shooting. These reasons are good enough, people who assert that they really really need that Class 3 MP5K because stormtroopers are coming in 2012 make the rest of us look like wackos. It drives me NUTS, and I can't ever resist pointing it out, and apparently you can't ever resist disagreeing with me about it (which, obviously, is within your rights to do), and so we keep ending up in this discussion even though the discussion wasn't even initially between the two of us.

Yeah that another thing that makes me mad. Floride in our drinking systems. Under the pretense that floride hardens your teeth, but usually neglect to mention what happens if you swallow floride. It is topical... says so on the bottle I have.

Furthermore, it seems water floridation was first used by the nazis, under the notion that systemic use of floride over time makes you docile.

On the other end, hositility is something experimented with by our government using rabies to kill its own citizens. (this may all be hearsay or a slowly emerging truth) They mentioned the movie quarantine.
