The only thread that keeps you on the edge of your seat... :ohno:

Tires have been ordered. All four should be at my house by Friday! Let's review my checklist:

Coilovers: Ready
Wheels: Ready
Tires: In transit
Lugnuts: NEED
Caliper paint: Ready

I am honestly getting a more impatient with it now and want to get them on ASAP. Calipers will be simple silver. Since they are not the sport calipers they do not need to be flashy. I don't think they will even be visible through the wheels bit I will still give them to gave a coat of paint anyways.

I like these TPI lugnuts but may just get a set locally.

Stay tuned if you can bare it! :naughty:

If you can fit the 20x10.5 +45 on the front I will run a square setup if possible. I agree on the calipers its not necessary, but that attention to detail is very nice. What color did you have in mind? Also are you going with the gunmetal color lugs too?

Silver for the calipers. I went with chrome steel versions of those same Lugnuts.

So it's happening for real this weekend.

Coilovers: Ready
Wheels: Ready
Tires: 2 Ready & 2 Arriving tomorrow
Lugnuts: Ready
Caliper paint: Ready

Well here she is. The height still needs to be adjusted up some (a tiny bit too low for me) and the center caps put on but the hard part is finished. I will get the alignment done Monday. Once that's all done I'll take her out and get some good pictures.

Hey did you remember to test fit the 10.5" wide wheels in the front to check the clearance? ;)

Maybe if I was on air. I raised it maybe half an inch. We'll see how it works out. I do a lot of local driving and Highway 1 trips so I need a ride height and tire that will not popping tires and bending wheels. Plus I just don't like the look of cars with overly tucked wheels. Just not for me.

Reggiebrown40 - you need to enable PM receipt in you settings. Here are the answers to your questions.

Brand: BC

Why: When I bought these adjustable coil-overs, over a year ago, BC and Megan were the only options available. I chose BC's. There are other brands available now I think.

Opinion: They have only been on the car for three days now and before this morning I had only driven a few miles in my neighborhood. So far so good. The ride around town is a little stiffer but really only noticeable when you are looking for it. On the freeway the car feels much more planted. Large bumps are much more noticeable at speed then on the street. You will feel big dips much more then before.

Programmed the new TPMS sensors yesterday and found that my tires are at 38psi. So today I am going to get the car aligned, air down tires to the correct PSI, and maybe adjust the struts to a softer setting (at 15 / middle now). Then once I get some more seat time I'll share my final opinion.

So far I know of these brands. I think the the first three are the same just different colors and decals.
BC
Megan
Blitz ZZR
Tanabe Sustec
TEIN Mono Sport (Japan only maybe?)
TEIN Street Flex (Japan only maybe.)
RSR Besti (Japan only maybe?)

I failed to take pics of the extenders when I installed them so here is a graphic that shows how it was installed and some pics of the result.

Image

You can see some the rear deck material that was drilled out to make the hole. I matched the extender cable to a drill bit and drilled the hole by hand. I held the drill bit in my fingers and spun it on the underside of the rear deck until it had just about poked thru. Then i used the blunt end of the bit to push the rear deck carpet down into the hole. The extender was measured and trimmed and then installed.

I have not vacuumed up the dust from drilling the hole.
Image

I removed the headrest for this pic.

AND now some better pics!

Very nice man! Have you thought about spacers in the front to make it a little more flush?

Also, I thought the only coilovers available for RWD are Tanabe and BC; AWD is only BC?

Car looks great Deb. So the next question is when are you getting a sport bumper?!?! Lol. I also agree a small spacer in the front would look good.

BC is the only brand in the states that has coils for the AWD. I believe RS-R also makes AWD coils but obviously they're in Japan.

Thanks! Not sure on the bumper. If I change it, it will be for a 14+ bumper, grille, and headlights.

About spacers...I may get the SPC front arms to correct the camber which should eliminate some of the gap, but honestly it does not really bother me that much. It's much more noticeable in the pictures then in person in my opinion.

About coilovers...I was not really considering RWD vs AWD with that list.

Wow these wheels came out beautifully on your car. I am tempted to run the same wheels but 20x10.5 +45 all around. But i dont think those wheels would clear the front Akebono calipers though.

What type of OEM rims did you have? I'm looking for a set of 20"s for my Q50. Like these

Yup, base 18's. Either way I always keep my stock wheels. Might run them when winter hits here in Nor Cal. :chuckle:

Thanks Debonair. I had no idea I was not setup for PM's.

Stiffer is what I wanted to avoid because I think the ride is pretty stiff as it is on factory coils. Now that you've set your tires to the correct psi is there any change? I don't want to go too low -- just enough to make the wheels look better. Too much wheel gap.

The Alignment tech set the tire pressures correct. And I have since adjusted the ride to five clicks above full soft. Much too bouncy now. Little bit more time adjusting the knob and I think I'll be happy with it. I also lan o bringing the car up another half inch.

If you do not plan on going very low you can get softer spring rates when you order them. A softer spring rate, higher ride height, and dialed to your preference dampening will most likely make you happy.

Nice wheels.they flow with the body perfect.good job...very simple.total opposite of my build.lol.

To get rid of the bounce.you need to make dampening stiffer.i drove on coils for two years with my M.and 3 years with my Q45t.love them...but i like riding as low as possible. So air /coilover combo was my choice.spc camber arms will correct your camber.but you should of waited for your coilovers to settle before getting an alignment. Any new spring or coilover will settle over driving time.if you need spacers.the real ones that bolt up with exstended studs.i have a set of ichiba v1 that are 3 weeks old cost 120 new.80 shipped here.10mm. good luck with the car...
