New to the Nissan thing

So, I sold my hybrid '88CRX Si to jump ship to Nissan... and I've been around the DC Metro area for an S13 240SX Coupe. What should I be looking when buying one of these cars. I know about the rust thing, and I will have enough $$$ by summer to order an S13 front clip. Any suggestions and tips for a newbie would be great. I do Honda's well, but dont know jack **** about Nissan, turbo's, and RWD Thanks.

VTEC is cool dude... but I think torque + boost = happy man! So anyhow, does anyone have tips on buying an S13 Coupe? Anything in particular I should search for? Thanks

if u r going to swap, just make sure it runs well enough to last u until you swap. other then that, just make sure it has a good body/interior

well i know for me personally , it s not really the fact that i dont like the car(hondas) itself, because some hondas arent too bad looking to me, it s just that every other person has a honda civic/accord/crx, and steady ricing them out, it gets old, and nissans are alot better cars too. thats my opinion

:Werd What he said. There is a wealth of information, and a ton of intelligent people here on the NICO Forums. Here's a warning though. There is growing segment of people here that resent the wave of Honda converts we've been getting lately. I do see their point, because with them, we've been getting a lot of repetitive qustions. Like it or not, you're going to have to prove to some people that you are a true enthusiast, and not a lemming just following a (growing) trend. My advice: Look around, make intelligent posts, gain some credibility (shouldn't be too hard if you've been around cars a while), and try not to flame/troll. I have been defending the Honda make (and others) here for some time now. Please don't put me/us in a bad position, by making a silly post. With that said, welcome make yourself at home.:dogpile

New to this forum too, although I don't own a 240 yet. And yes, as you can see by my sig, I do own a Honda. Just came, because I really like s14's and rwd. I'm also thinking of selling the Prelude to get one, but probably not anytime soon.

Sounds like some of you are hating on Honda's because they get riced out, well guess what, so do Nissan's! I've seen my fair share. And no I am not hopping on the bandwagon, my car has been having problems for the past month and I feel its time for a change. Thanks.

actually I'm not thinking of the switch because other people rice honda's out. Actually I've seen only a few riced out preludes. I'm doing it because it's b**** to work on it, and the service for them sucks. I'm also thinking of the switch because I've been driving my friends Miata a lot lately, and I love rwd.

Hondas are easier to work on than Nissans. I hate Hondas for many reasons, not just because they are riced out. Well I wouldn't say that I hate Hondas....its more the owners.

Honda's are easier to work on Hobie. Also, all of the Honda owners I know are very cool and some have grown to be great friends of mine actually... you just gotta meet the right people I guess. O, and one more thing, VTEC *IS* cool!

This whole thread was happy and nice until the VTEC thing came in.....sorry to be an *** but:

VTEC basically tells people who actually know about engines that "hey! look at me, i'm a commuter car, and a SOHC neon can beat me!, but watch out, b/c when those aggressive cams kick in, i can match up with stock Tercels! Whoohoo!"

While engines from companies like Nissan, Chevrolet, and Volkswagon are doing just as good being automatic and piloted by my 72 year old grandfather.

variable valve timing and lift is nothing special, Honda just makes it more apparent in their cars than other companies.

Oh and if Vtec is so cool then why do a lot of kids that run turbo dissable it? Why is Signal's all-motor crx (that runs 11.xxs) not using the Vtec on their B16...cause its not all that great.

really i'm just venting out on honda right now because their service departments suck, long story. Actually the group of people I do hang out with with cars don't care what you drive, and we're all about driving, not show. Most of us autocross, and do pretty well. In STX I often came in 2nd beating many of the damned WRX's. RWD is just something I really enjoyed driving. I don't want a miata, too small, and if they would have still made the 240 when i bought the car, I would have never looked at the prelude.

I'm a BIG honda fan. I'm a BIG Nissan fan. I love both cars, and I own both kinds. The only reason I like my Nissan better is because it's RWD. Honda's have too much understeering going on...but they ARE excelent cars. I've had a 98 hatchback for the longest, and I sold it...Nissans motors are so much stronger than Hondas.

As much as I love Nissans, I give love to Hondas as well. Hell, I even go to Honda Meetups with my 240...I don't care..and they don't care...its the riceboys that are stupid.
