Hello everyone- I'm new.

[img ] NEWBIE.GIF[/ img]

I know I know I know...:)

I've been in the Honda Camp for a long time- Swapping motors is nothing new to me- hell, I run a Honda motor swap website (see sig).

I feel like I'm starting all over again- In fact, I am... I'm eyeing a 92' 240 hatch/notch whatever its called (not the coupe).

I have a bunch of generic questions- YES I searched... but I don't know key terms to search for really- so it turned useless.

OBD - does Nissan follow the same obd rules (<91 = 0; 92-95 = 1; 96-98 = 2a; 99> = 2b).If not, what OBD is the 92 240sx?

s13 swap-I'm looking at the 'red top'. How do i know if my car has the LSD or not (other than physically looking inside).Does an s15 6-speed bolt up to an s13?what about mounts- ive heard stock k24de mounts are the same- is this true?Wires- I read on SCC about their sylvia swap, and they mention wires being a biotch. Does anyone have a template, or something to go buy? Does it differ per ECU? per obd?

As you can tell- I want to be sure I get the rigth stuff. I've done tons of research over the past few days, but its just that- DAYS. I have 3 years of Honda tuning behind me... and I feel like a virgin :) some one Tap my a$$!! haha

Thanks in advance guys/gals

nissan has obd1 and obd2

afaik, all redtops are obd1

lsd pumpkin has an orange sticker on the outside of the pumpkin...which is a visual distinction

you can make the S15 transmission work with modifications, but as far as i know, it wont 'bolt up' and work fully without work....but yes, you can make it work.

stock mounts are 'same', pretty much, they actually arent the same, jdm ones are stiffer, and the ka ones are preloaded on one side, but yes, you can use them, although i would recommend using the jdm ones or a set of Nismo aftermarket mounts.

wiring is pretty straight forward if you get a swap with the uncut wiring harness, and have knowledge working with cars...if the harness is cut, then wiring is a *****.

when i got my motor from Jeff Holden, i got the FSM on CD from them...most of the basic wiring is on heavythrottle.com, otherwise it was found in that disk.

good luck

No - not my car-- thats Cory Thompson's car... Hes our dragger guy... gave him a little feature- but he never gave me any info to put up there! haha.

I dont know the guy you mention either

Anyway-

obd 1- Good thing :)knock sensors? do the sr20's have them?

What is that disk? it came with your swap? would you 'share' that info with me? :) please? :)

Who is jeff holden?

I'm no master mechanic- but I can get things done if i have the tools usually. If not, I have friends who are and have the tools.

What needs to be changed to get the 6 speed to work, do you know? Also, I'm interested in gear ratios of all the boxes- anyone have a link?

Thanks for the reply dude-

well i know there were probs people came accross with the s15 trranny's like, speed sensors, stuff like that, i know it has been done though, and i think heavythrottle might have that info...

Jeff Holden and Yuri ___ run Heavythrottle.com , real big and popular in the 240 scene with a great reputation.

yea, if i have that cd still, i would send it to you or something, i have to look for it though, i have no idea where it might be....but like i said, i think we only refered to it once, the wiring is pretty straight forward......just get an uncut harness with the motor

sorry for short response, in a rush...be back later, lol

Yes, they have knock sensors.

The Disk is just a copy of the SR20DET FSM, most people to do their wiring compare the SR20DET FSM with the 240SX FSM, and line the wires up. Other people use resources like http://www.srswap.com

Jeff Holden is the co-owner of Heavy Throttle, ( hopefully I didn't mess that up, sorry Yuri : ), they provide engines and installations.

The transmission mount will need to be changed, as will the driveshaft, rear end, and speed sensor. Most people don't use the 6 speed because, a) its extremely difficult to buy a 6 speed without a S15, and b) its generally considered weaker than the 5 speed, because it has 6 gears in the same allotted space as the 5 speed has 5 gears, this leads to less material per gear. A lot of people in Japan rip their 6 speeds out and put in 5 speeds, I don't know why you want it...

Gear Ratios:5 Speed3.321 - 1st 1.902 - 2nd 1.308 - 3rd 1.000 - 4th 0.759 - 5th3.382 - Rev 4.083 - Final

6 Speed3.626 - 1st 2.200 - 2nd 1.541 - 3rd 1.213 - 4th 1.000 - 5th 0.767 - 6th3.437 - Rev 3.692 - Final

I have a lot of additional information at my website, as does Heavy Throttle at theirs, either http://www.srswap.com or http://www.heavythrottle.com , mine can be reached thru the link in my name, Jesse has also provided a link to my site. Enjoy your day!

we won't be importing any incomplete engines for sale, maybe a couple for parts or in rare circumstances where someone needs a block, but we only sell 100% complete.

ok seeing those ratios makes me want to puke!

5th gear at 1:1 christ!

scratching the 6 spd idea :) besides, longer gears are better for boost :)

FSM = Factory service manual correct? Does helminc.com make a nissan manual? <-- heads there now... cuz they make kick-*** honda ones.

I see you have a black top Jesse (that's your name right?)why did you choose that over the red top?

Dauntless-- did you see my other post? http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....=5266last post...

After I pick up my 240 (hopefully next week) I'm sure we will be in touch.

Do you do discounts? I mean- buying an sr20 swap with a bunch of options and a sylvia conversion all at once = $$$$$$$. Would you cut a deal on a big order like that?

I'm getting out of the honda sceene... and have a **** load of parts, swaps, and cars to get rid of- adn then, its buying time

Let me know.

well i was originally getting a redtop, but there werent as available as now, so it was a long wait.....then someone ended up not being able to pay for the motor, and they offered it to me, since he was aware i was looking at the time....i was able to get a very new, and low milage (19,000miles) motor, which for me was real nice, almost like buying a used 98 car, lol.....i liked the idea of the supposed "reworked" or whatever ecu, but really it was a year, and milage issue...now i like having something a little rarer...soon it will be special, i think a candy apple grean top SR20det, hehe.......

yes im jesse.

they're both basically the same, especially as soon as you start modifying

it depends...if i was doing it again, and wanted to have a fully built motor, all internal work, and standalone ecu, id get a redtop, if i was just throwing the motor in stock, id get a blacktop...thats just me though : )

about 400-450whp....id say 400-425whp to be safe.....13's you dont have to touch the motor....you can run 12's without having to touch the inside of the motor (may want to consider headgasket)

I usually suggest that people don't exceed 350rwhp if its going to be even remotely close to a daily driven car. Obviously you want it to last and thers no reason to put undue stress. Plus, every motor has a little different tolerances. : )

So daunt, if we buy more then just a motor from you, you would slightly discount it? I was lookin to order a motorset and 97-98 front end conversion from you at the same time.
