I've noticed...

the board is huge (or so it looks) yet, the posts are really slow. I've checked back once a day for a few days now and this forum only had 5 or 6 un read threads....

I just like to get 4th 5th and 6th opinions on anythign before I do/buy anything. I've wasted too much cash in the past by not doing enough homework before hand. I just want to do this one right. Being totally new to both nissan AND rwd, its kinda wierd.... and i feel really stupid about things... so, thats why I'm here-- to go gets me an edumacations

I'm reviving this old thread cuz I have a few questions reguarding(sic?) this topic and I know no one wants me to start a new topic cuz it may seem stupid.

I too am coming from the Honda camp, however I only have one swap under my belt. a gen 2 B16a into a '91 integra. I have some obd questions cuz I ran into several problems with my honda swap. someone said in this post that these are all obd1 or greater systems that we are dealing with yes?? I got a '90 fastback and I wanna know more about the electrical stuff. some more history, my '91 integra was OBD0 and the motor I got was OBD1. this gave me big ecu and distributor headaches. Do I need to worry about this for my '90 fastback when choosing the sr20 I get? Also, I am afraid to ask but . . . how difficult is this swap realy for someone like me. I wanna do it myself, but would it be a better idea to find someone with more experience to do it for me? I am confident that the crew I got would help me but since they are all honda guys most of the work and "make speciffic" knowlege will have to come from me. thanks in advance

OBD is not of ANY concern when swapping any S13 SR20DET into an S13 chassis. There is NO distributor on the SR. The ignition is controlled by the ECU and not a distributor, so use the proper SR ECU for your S13 SR and you shouldnt have any problems. Heres some links, unfortunately some of the walkthroughs on this swap have been taken down...Heavy Throttle's FAQhttp://www.srswap.com/f_faq.htmJust a table of all the Silvia engines/transmission Chassis S13-S15http://www.nissansilvia.co.nz/...e.htmMight find a useful walkthrough herehttp://sr20.hybrids.jp/Good for ECU codes primarilyhttp://sr20det.nismo.org/Only real walkthrough left that I can findhttp://www.sportcompactcarweb....lvia/Download the S13 and S14 FSM's here! (*.pdf format)http://www.silviaaustralia.com/techinfo.asp

It probably would have been smarter just to start a new thread, usually whenever I have never written in a thread before and it has 30+ posts already I skip it. Start a new one to get more attention.

I guess I just feared that ominous response I see some newbies getting which simply reads: "use the search button" I thought this way I wouldn't be so obnoxious to those people. your reply has set that straight for me now tho. thanks.

True that! I am new from hondas as well - it seems these 240 boards are ruthless to newbies - worse that honda-tech used to be. NEways, there seems to be lots of good info on this board so its worth putting up with.

I think Speedracers last post would make an excellent sticky - I'd add that SCC article about the 6hr swap though.
