Yeah so I moved here from New Zealand, and now here I am in Los Angelas.
I came here in hopes of going back into racing, seemed cheap from overseas, but wow is it not so.

Anyway, bought a 240sx and now i seem to be stuck with it as a daily.
Been a mechanic for a few years working on nissan's and toyota's for a bit now, and now I sorta wanna get back into going fast.

But i don't know anybody here and where the heck are all the good meets? and anyone have a POS car that runs so I can finally start working on my 240sx?

Just call me D or Alex, whichever!

Also here are pics for reference
Car I sold before Moving here S13, with S15 sr20det 365hp
t28r (imitation) Front mount, FPR, Walbro Fuel pump, BC suspension, Locker, Z32 brake and 5 stud, etc....list goes on.

One of my S13's had an RB30det that i built in it. To actually get it to do the hp it should have done was gonna cost to much, so i sold it

Car i learned how to drift in, also won a lot of club events with.

What it ended up looking like after 3 years of abuse and a thrown rod

I have more pics, just gotta find em, so yeah Ive done drifting, and GT and Targa and some rally.
It just all came outa my pocket, thats only like half the cars I've owned. There is also an rb30det Cefiro with 500hp, another one with rb25det.
The like 5 skylines I've owned (never an R34 but always wanted one)

Also R31 Skyline wagon with Rb30e Best car I've ever owned, I Could sit on the spot for an hour until the engine bay glowed red.
Still never missed a beat for 2 years.

Getting into racing is only as expensive as YOU make it. With a simple replacement of your shocks with some Koni's and a spare set of wheels with Hoosier A6's on them, you can easily be competitor in the stock classes of SCCA autocross. Street Touring cars are rather cheap if you'd like to upgrade your car further for Autocross AND you dont have to buy rcompounds as they're not allowed. Spec Miata's/Spec Focus'/Spec E30's, these are all relatively cheap and simple cars to build for NASA or Club Racing events. There is also the "Improved Touring" category which opens up a whole other avenue of cheap racecars.

Sadly, all those cars listed have long since been gone. So Ex-SR owner you could say.

Also I have done the whole lower class racing, gets really frustrating not having power.
Plus I wanna do rally and drifting, also doesn't help my KA is dying a slow painful death.

Been here since September, and boy is it a culture shock for me.

So does anyone round these parts meet up for a weekly shoot the s*** meetings?
We would have meetings every week or so and some beer and some bbq's every so often, do you guys do similar in Los Angelas?

What's the "whole lower class racing" you've done in America?

You should work on your skill and find a class before trying to work on power, especially since you said you had hopes in getting back to racing but it wasn't cheap.

http://forum.nccbmwcca.org/downloads.ph ... 2&act=down

My little Corolla has nothing in terms of power but it doesn't stop me from laying down quick times. If you look at the bottom, I had the fastest time of the day. Just about the whole field of cars at that BMWCCA event had more power than me (some had TONS more).

If you're genuinely interested in motorsports here in America, read up on some of the amateur organizations for it (http://www.scca/com http://www.nasaproracing.com/) and find one of the more restrictive classes to fit into so that your spending will be very limited.
