Ok I am new to nissans and A guy I use to work with who has a s14 with a blacktop, let me ride in his lil bro's s13 with a redtop SR, after that I was hooked. So after driving my civic and hating every minute, so one hits me. Bam insurance money and a new 240 for me. So I have been interested in the CA. I was just curious how much boost can be ran on the stock bottom end, and what I should replace to make it reliable. The mods I will have at time of swap will be- walbro fuel pump, stock CA injectors I think they are 370cc, new turbo manifold, gt28 turbo, downpipe, greddy 3in exhaust, some kind of piggy back like a greddy e-manage and some type of manual boost controller. What will be the max boost I can run safely with these mods?

Also I heard someone makes a drop in 550cc injector for the ca ,but not sure on brand and i was also not sure if I needed them or if the stock ones will be good enough. Also I will be using a turbo timer to prevent any damage and also I am looking at the turboX RFL blow off valve. I will be going with a FMIC not sure which yet and a hotpipe to. I know this is a long post ,but I wanted to make sure I covered everything, thanks for all your help.

let me be the first to say. WELCOME!!!! and .. this topic has been mentioned many times. i think the sticky at the top has some good info. also use the search function. Dee aka boostboy has made good #'s with high boost and stock internals. Good luck man!

If you are going with a Gt28, you might as well go with 550cc injectors, and for longer period of time you might want to replace the headgasket with some metal one.

The stock internals are very tough, but before you start adding things, you might want to get your engine tested to make sure that the compression is good as well as the bottom end such as the rod bearings, main bearings etc... are in a good condition.

Boost_boy produced over 320hp I believe on stock internals and this guy abuses his engine as bad as I do, and it is still running strong.Personally I am running close to 300hp on stock internals for over 3 years and I haven't had any problems yet, I don't remember shifting below 6k rpm.

If you go with Ca, you are definitely gonna love it.

it's nice to be on a forum where you can ask a question and not get **** talked to unlike honda-tech.. I had to get a nissan after I rode in the s13, I have had a couple of swapped civics and 2 crxs with LS motors, and they ain't ****, I look forward to beating down on all the honda's around my block. Thanks for the welcome.

Do you guys have any suggestions on a manifold for using a gt28 on a ca18det? I was going to get one from SSAuto chrome, but I heard they crack.

Well, you really don't have any options other than that or custom made. And a "custom" one will run you $1k+

PULSAR GTR- I know you said to grab some 550cc's ,but would I be ok with some DSM 450cc's I actually have a set already from a earlier turbo project I was gonna start on my last civic.

450s are okay....gives you a HP limit of about 275whp. Beyond that you will be pushing them in the 90+% duty cycle which is less than ideal.

As C-Rad said, depending on what kind of hp you are looking for, going with Gt28, you definitely want something bigger than the stock injectors, The DSM injectors will work fine, but if you want more than 275whp, you need 550cc injectors, but I doubt the GT28 will push more than 275WHP that is which approximatly about 320Flywheel hp.

So, if you have a set of DSM, I would stick with them for such a turbo.

Good luck,

So will the SS manifold fit no problems in the 240sx, I read on that sticky that the kit with the supposed t70 won't fit. Also If later on I wanna grab bigger injectors what turbo would be good.

That one won't fit just because the turbo is so damn large. I am sure a T3/T04E sized turbo would fit on their top-mount manifold although I can't say from personal experience.

I don't recomend you buying the T70 turbo kit, I looked into it in the past and this turbo is way too big, the lag on this turbo will be insane.

Regarding the SS manifold, a member on here bought one a while back and when he turned up the boost, the manifold cracked, but later on I heard that SS have improved their design and welding, but that is what I heard so no quarantees from my end.

If you decide you want to go with 550cc injectors, Mazda RX-7 second generation 1991 will drop and play, they are high impedence unlike the 370cc injectors are low impedence.

Right, but doesn't the CA use low-impedance injectors???

Yes the Ca use low-impedance injectors, hence they use the Resistor pack, so if you want to use the 550cc injectors with stock ecu(remapped), you need to illiminate the resistor pack other wise your impedance will be too high and the injectors might not function properly,

Yeah, that's what I thought... the stock DSM injectors are ~2.4ohms and are a direct replacement for the stockers.

Ok so with the walbro fuel pump, 550cc's, new turbo manifold, gt28 turbo, downpipe, greddy 3in exhaust, some kind of piggy back like a greddy e-manage and some type of manual boost controller Will I need to do anything with the stock ecu or will it be fine as it is? Also will a hotpipe for a sr20det swap fit the ca with the gt28 no probs?

You know it if he supported the manifold? SS uses thin metal. It will work, but you have to support the turbo.

Like others have said, it matters the power you are looking for. You can always get larger injectors. It is a POS to be limited by your injectors when tuning it.

how fast would the 240 run with around 320 flywheel/275 wheel horsepower? I am just looking to have a fast fun car, not the fastest. Ok,With a ca18det with gt28, ssAC manifold, B.O.V with hotpipe, SMIC, manual boost controller, DSM 450cc, and greddy e-manage I would be able to make around 275WHP? Like I said I don't want to be the fastest just enough to hold my own.

Get the exact weight of the 240sx and find the 1/4 calcuator of the web, they usually pretty accurate.

Two things you might want to avoid,1) Don't use SMIC with this kind of hp, I would HIGHLY recomend to go with FMIC, the smic is pretty limited in size and shape to cool the amount of air for this hp that you are looking for2) Don't even think of using manual boost controller, it is nothing but headaches and a possiblity of damaging your turbo or engine. With the manual boost controller, the boost always spikes beyond what you set it for even though for very short amount of time (in milliseconds), which can be enough to blow yoru turbo or detonate the engine. You want hp, don't go the cheap way, get yourself a good electronic boost controller, and the proper quality parts and save yourself some headache.

I don't get any spiking at all and I use a joe p manual boost controller. May have something to do with me having a greddy style o2 pipe which smooths out the exhaust flow out of the wastegate door. I run .9 bar with a t28.

I wouldn't bother with the ss exhaust manifold though. Maybe if you get that as part of many pieces to save you money, then it'd be worth it.

motor, transmission, ecu, I am gonna run dsm's for a lil bit at low boost until I can get some 550cc's, I am gonna run a gt28 with a reinforced SS mani, a FMIC,walbro pump, greddy emanage, I am looking for a Boost controller and a ignitor, But my question is what down pipe and blowoff valve to use, and what other little parts may I need for the swap? I also have a slim fan, a and power steering lines from a 94. I just want to make sure before I take anything apart. thanks for all your help.

For the downpipe, I believe an SR O2 housing will work on Gt28 but I am 100% sure, you might want to double check on that, or may be some other member here might be able to tell you for sure.If the Sr O2 housing works 100%, then you need to use an SR downpipeYou can go with Electric rad fanPS lines, you don't need to replace them.As long as you get the engine, transmission, harness, ecu, igintor, resistor pack (for the stock injectors or DSM), intercooler, Then basically you have every thing to get the car going.

So will the injector resistor pack from my KA motor work with the DSM's?

damn! i cant believe i didnt post on this thread yet! it seems someone is trying to build a split image of my car!

ok, that gt28 wont fit on the manifold unless you use 2 manifold -->turbo gaskets or dremel the manifold a little. the heat shield will also have to go. you will have to use the CA's o2 housing as the sr one puts the exhaust at some crazy angle with the gt28 for some reason. downpipe is stock as i havnt had the time to get one made but you can use just about any ca downpipe you want. you can try a stock sr o2 housing if you want, but when i tried i couldnt get it to clear my steering shaft. it would certainly make the downpipe problem alot easier. anyway, ive got to go but shoot me any questions you want on aim or via email. ill be around later.
