What are the other benefits of metallic versus non-metallic tint? Should I just go with option 2? It's cheaper, but the shop is in a very ghetto area...
I can't think of many more benefits...as I said

Pros1. scratch resistant, fade resistant, color change resistant2. MUCH improved night vision over traditional tint

Cons1. Tint color is different, if you're looking for that black look, tmetallic may not be the way to go2. Takes a LONG time to dry, will have small air bullbles when finished, but they eventually evaporate 100%3. more expensive (but worth it IMHO)

look at his tint on the front of the windshield and you'll notice what looks like a notch in the middle extended out beyond the tint. its black and its part of the windshield. I'm not sure what it is. I was told it might be part of the antenna. but it extends past the tint line. thats what I'm talking about

I think I am going to go with the high end Formula One Ceramic tint. It is MUCH superior in heat reduction, optical clarity, and looks nicer too!

He lowered the price to $369. Man am I getting ripped off, I'm hoping it is worth it in the end...

Got pulled a week ago. Never said anything about the tint.... and the tint laws in cali are 70% front and anything anywhere else. Cops are pretty chill around here.
70% was true for a while, Now NO TINT is allowed on front windows. I Work at a tint place and believe me I had a big issue with this and some customers. I actually had a women get pulled over and got a fix it ticket with 70% on her front windows!!!!

Well, I won't be doing the tint myself, I am too scared to mess up my car...

So you have some experience with ceramic tint?

I don't think I've seen a car with ceramic tint on it. That big of a difference?

Thats really werid! There was another link on here that said no front windows are to be tinted. I did research on it and even asked a cop. These Law has given me a headache!!!

I dont care, I still went ahead and got 35% on all my side windows ( driver and passenger plus the two little ones that i cant even see nothing out of) and 20% for the back windshield! Hope I dont get pulled over!!!

We havent had anyone here actually get it done! I have lots of people ask for it but when I tell them how much it costs they never go along with it. I get a " o, let me think about it and get back to you later to schedule an appointment, or wow, I need to save u for that, maybe later down the line", or they just go with our silhouette line from johnson.

I've seen really good ceramic film done and some bad! I'll try to look for a picture to show you guys the difference.

Sorry By the Way this BMW is 35%

Reasons to go with ceramic: - Superb durability - resistance to salt content environment- High total solar energy rejection- High ultraviolet rejection; greater than 99%- 100% dye-free and 100% metal-free- Scratch-resistant hardcoat- Natural tone with low reflectivity

Wow, that BMW is really 35%? Looks lighter than that... Do you work at a place that does tinting??

From DMV's website. These laws take precedence over what CHP thinks.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc26708.htm

The window glazing with the material applied meets all requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 205 (49 C.F.R. 571.205), including the specified minimum light transmittance of 70 percent and the abrasion resistance of AS-14 glazing, as specified in that federal standard.

The laws in Cali are supposed to be strict, but I had 35% in the front on my old Volvo with no problems. Keeping the coupe tint-less for now.

Whats up guys, new to the forum although I've been reading it for awhile now. Just curious what some of you thought about tints on just the back windows. I believe anything on the front windows in IL is illegal and I don't need the hassle. I have a dark slate coupe and they do look nice tinted. Looking at the overlays for the tails also. I like the GTR stlye.

Nice! I decided to not go with limo tint all around like my specv. 35% for driver/passenger windows and 20% for the rears. works for me!
