i had the same problem heres what i did in order of cheapness

try ur rad cap, get one from auto store for like 6$. i tried to bleed the system without the cap on for a while thought i was good but wasnt. drove down the road and it was fine for a bit then over heated then cuasing coolant to spit out of the overflow tank like a baby. after that i realized i just had an air pocket in there and the system bled itself. hope that helps

alot of people just dump the coolant in and dont give the air a chance to escape. pour coolant in slowly .

i know this kinda sounds odd but if you try everything else and nothing works and it still overheats i would look at getting my radiator flushed...over time it builds nasty crap in it and it could be causing a blockage of coolant...just a suggestion

i just checked my coolant level, and it wasnt even at minimum!so i added in coolant, and my overheating problem was gone. And now my car heats up in about 2-3 mins a 1/4 if the way up above the cold bar.

instal another tstat, cut the peep hole (the lil thing that jiggles ands made out of brass or copper off the tstat and make sure thats on top) and reinstall the t stat, put the car on jack stands and do the entire warm up procedure again, i know its a pian in the a$$ but taking ur time n doin it correct is better then installin another ka

you do a compression test? no milky oil? no oil in the coolant? you know the signs of a blown headgasket bro?

Yea i know the signs of a bad headgasket. I have 170psi compression across the board. My car is fixed BTW it was stupid small stuff. First it was air, then my upper hose sprung a leak and then my radiator died that same night, so i replaced them both and i though i bled it good enough but 2 weeks later it started to overheat again when i got home. So the next morning at like 7 in 10 degree weather i went out and bled it some more. It wasn't even alot of air either. Oh well now it works so thats all i care about.

if you take the thermostat out you can test it really easy just get a small pot and fill with water and put the thermostat in it and boil the water and check if the thermostat pops if it doesnt then it is bad. if you run the car with out a thermostat it will take the car much longer to reach NOT. what exactly does it do

Well if you take your thermostat out it can be bad for you car. It can create heat spots and warping because of it. It doesnt saty in the chamber loing enough to cool it down effectively and can cause problems that way

^^^^ not really b/c if you take your thermostat out it will always flow through the radiator. all the thermostat does is open when the coolant get to hot to allow it to go through the radiator. so if you take it out the coolant will alway circulate through the rad and it will be cooler. but it will also take much longer for the engine to reach NOT. which means that the oil will take longer to reach its opperating thickness.
