Just saw an ad for this car. The one with rockets chasing it across the sky. I think I seriously need to go test drive this car.

Yup! Check out the new Equus if you get a chance ... It is an amazingly well-equipped luxury car for the money!

My son commented that it was the best "new car" at the San Jose Auto Show this year ... :yesnod

BTW, I am somewhat pleased and proud to finally get a chance to talk about what my company (and I) have been working on for the past few years.

Check out this capability in the Hyundai's due out this summer: http://www.hyundaiusa.com/bluelink/

It was announced/demo'ed at CES in January and a number of auto shows since then and is getting a good reception as the first real alternative to OnStar ... frankly, it is better in many ways!

And the next-gen version will be even better! :yesnod

The underlying data transport technology is from my company (I am responsible for the architecture / development of the capabilities that is so superior that we were selected after multiple head-to-head field trials against the traditional cellular data companies).

We have been working our buns off with Hyundai to get this product launched. After more than two years "baking in the oven". And, it is now real!!

It in my opinion looks over styled, and is made to be something it isn't
Relative to everything else on the road, "overstyled" is about as far off as you can get. Next to an Accord or Camry or steroid-freak-hooded Altima, it's absolutely conservative.

LOL I dig my steroid-freak hood. I'm going to borrow that, btw. "What did you do to your car?" "I put it on that juice, and the hood bulged. IDK?!?" Love it.

It's amazing how far Kia has come in even just five years of lineup changes (save the Rio, but every car maker needs a red-headed step child, right?)

I will definitely say that I miss the center stacks being oriented toward the driver. That is a very awesome styling move for the interior design. I have also always loved black and tan when done right, and this one is definitely done right.

Congrats on the purchase, man! I hope you enjoy it!

WOW. That is a FANTASTIC looking interior. Not many cars anymore have the center stack facing the driver. I am baffled at how nice of cars Hyundai/Kia is rolling out. If I was in the market for a new car right now, Kia would be at the top of my list. I like almost all of their new lineup.

Did I just say that?

The interior is very Saab.

Nice ride! I really want to get one of these for my next vehicle, the only other thing on my list aside from this is the Ford Fusion.

So how's the power for it being the N/A version?

i was stuck between both myself. honestly the fusion isnt anywhere near this. i looked at a loaded SE with the 202A pack, and appearance pack, and it was more expensive than this car, and didnt have the following: leather, heated seats, panoramic roof, 200hp, 35mpg highway, 5 year warranty, keyless go, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, interior lighting (mood), or as nice of a ride. plus, the fusion, while a great car, isnt built as nicely. there are parts that are solid, like the doors, but there are little trim bits that are unnervingly cheap, like the coin tray left of the steering wheel, that looks like its from another car. hard cheap plastics do not a great interior make.

as for the power, 4cyls are always wheezy given my previous car. that being said, its definately got some pick up. just not enough to push you into the seat. overall, im really happy with it, and people definately love to look.

I totally agree with dasoupdude on the front emblem placement.

hc85, your Optima mirrors the first 2011 that I saw in person (color combo, panoramic roof, etc) when they hit the local dealership.

From behind the wheel in the showroom I was very impressed with the interior design and content. Looks like a winner from Kia.

About two and a half weeks ago I stopped by one of the local Hyundai retailers to grab a Sonata brochure for a friend and there was an Equus (the $58,000.00 model) in the showroom. It is one impressive automobile. The interior is roomy and comfortable. The exterior looks like a hybrid of the Genesis sedan and Azera though. Not a bad thing to me as I like the looks of the Genesis sedan and pre 2011 Azera.

I also see a little Azera in the rear half of the current M37/M56 side profile. Usually with too much fender gap since I see more X's than non X's.

Oops. Okay, I'm back. Congratulations on your purchase heliochrome85. I dig your Optima. :yesnod

Very attractive interior.
I tried to drive a Koup back in the day before I got the Miata. And then I found the problem with Kia... the dealer network BLOWS. Dude left me waiting by myself for over an hour while he "looked for the keys"... no one else offered any help.

Granted, I'm basing this opinion off of just 1 dealership. OP: How was your dealership experience?

Hyundai/Kia will overtake Nissan USA this year in terms of sales.

the dealerships rank among the sleaziest ive ever been to. i had one out here call me every day, lie to me ust to get me to come into the show room. i told htem i work 6 days a week, 70 hours plus, and that im not going to waste my day off to come in to see a car that doesnt fit my requirements. i ended up making the purchase over the phone back home, so my dealer time was maybe 20 min. they gave me the numbers i wanted, i gave them the credit card info.

im not looking forward to service. unfortunately, unlike infniti, no loaners here :(

Don't feel bad, I didn't get a loaner for my Honda either... not to mention I got the shaft of the century with that situation.

Moral of the story: Just don't go to the dealer for anything.
