Well after some very time consuming engine modifications I finally got my 'vert back.

In the mean-time, I picked up some new wheels for it. Volk GT-P 18"x8" +31 fronts and 18"x9" +43 rears. They are pretty flush I think.

Here's a few quick pics.. Sorry I didn't get it washed and waxed properly.. Perhaps next weekend I'll find some time for that.

Next project is suspension. Man do I need some coilovers!

Look what I found in the garage this morning..

I went to a local park for a couple snap shots. My dog wanted to come along as well..

Here's the engine bay. New custom intake manifold, front mount intercooler, Rb25 turbo upgrade and some cool piping..

LOL... yeah, the dog... he's my new FIDO1000 security system. I just have to program him to attack burglers instead of lick them.

Isn't it amazing how much differance a set of wheels makes on a car!

Hey Eikon just a few questions:

1) What exhaust is that? I dunno if it's the camera angle or what but it looks huge...2) Are you going to smoke out your tailights?3) Planning on doing the door pillar removal?4) I have a feeling you will repaint it sometime in the future...so will you keep it black or paint it a different color?

Megan Racing turbo catback exhaust. 3" piping straight through with no cat. I think it's a 4" exhaust tip.. maybe even bigger.

I'll probably pick up a set of those ebay taillights

I'm going to swap coupe doors. In fact, in the first picture you can see one of the doors up against the wall. The second is against the front wall of the garage.

Most likely keep it black. I'm going to get a carbon fiber silvia hood. Most likely I'll also do a carbon fiber trunk lid. *Though with the top completely black, I have thought about doing a two-tone with a platinum color on the sides.. But, most likely just black.

Looks sweeeett.. loving the RB.. was it tough? Have you tried her out yet? Thought about buying a coupe to do a RB swap into, but I dunno.. Two tone would be tight... but black is a safe one as well... like the rims too..

looks really nice, seth.

i definitely want to see your car when it's painted as i had a similar idea for the 2-tone paint scheme.

please remember to remove your mudflaps. wtf?

i also think that muffler is too huge for a vert. then again, maybe it's just the angle.

I forgot all about the mudflaps. LOL I guess they sort of blend in. Thanks for reminding me.

The RB swap was really easy.. I paid someone to do it. I found the car in Seattle, WA. It was cheaper to have a shop out there swap the RB than it would have been for me to pay shipping on the car and engine seperately. Worked out really nice that way. That was 2 years ago now.

We'll see about the paint thing.. maybe when that time comes I'll have somebody do a couple photoshops for me to see what they look like.

Did you turbo the KA before switching over to the RB or did you swap it out as soon as you got it? As for the paint scheme, your vert would look great with a glossy black. I like your two-tone idea...but how about making it blend in? what I mean is sometimes it would look black, but other times it would look platinum. I actually thought about going for a black paint scheme on my vert, but i'll probably end up going with candy apple red or something.

When you repaint it...are you going to keep the Volks or get some new rims?

the stock KA was shot in the car when I bought it. Since I was already planning the RB20 swap, I was happy to find a 'vert with a blown KA.. as that made the price more affordable.

the paint will most likely depend on my budget. Given that fact, I'm sure it will just be a repaint in black as that is usually cheap and easy. It will still get a bit of a two-tone look since the hood and trunk will be carbon fiber and the top of course is fabric or "down".

I heart my Volks.. I don't know if I could find a nicer set of wheels for what I paid for them... so I'll prob. keep them forever. Though, 18's aren't so hot for performance... so I'll probably get a nice set of autox tires and have them mounted on my old stock rims if I ever decide to take it to the track.

LOL.. Rock Crawling.. that's funny!! Yeah I certainly do need to get some suspension work done.

Here's something interesting for you all... Notice that the gap is a little higher in the front of the car. Anybody still think the RB20 throws off the weight of the car? After a custom manifold and battery relocation to the trunk.. I garauntee my current engine setup is lighter than the old KA that used to be in there. I'd love to get my car corner weighted to see what the distribution is.

Don't the guys at the track get concerned about people taking their convertible there? Aren't you supposed to have a hardtop or a roll cage or something?

I've been to the local autox a couple times. I've seen miatas, s2000's and vette droptops run without roll cages... So i would think my local autox group would be ok with it.

Depends on where you go though.. I'm sure some places are much more strict than others.

Either way.. I'd like to put in a rollbar at some point. I really like the way the audi tt, S2000, BMW Z4, etc... look with the two hoops just behind the seats.

Fortunately I've got a friend who can help me with that project... perhaps next summer...

WOW.. now that's a compliment! Thanks!!!

Actually... there are a few 'vert owners on this board that have much cleaner bodies, better paint, and nice interiors. But, it is amazing how big an impact the wheels make on the look of a car.

I'll be honest though... The car rides worse on 18's. Not saying I'm unhappy... but they are more harsh and the 8" and 9" widths really pull sideways on uneven roads.

I will def. keep my stock 15" alloys with some performance tires for track days.
