I like white hb's but atleast you did a good job with the (spray?) paint. Whats next? Get a newer interior picture; I'm curious to see.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the feedback!

Well for the paint: I started off with the 88 cent walmart paint and did flat black on the hood and roof and hatch. Then I did a few layers of gloss black with krylon paint thats like 3 bucks a can. After that I did some clear coat with the krylon paint. the problem with it was that the clear didnt have the nice nozzle like the gloss did, so it came out a bit uneven.

For the red I did a few coats with "burgundy" krylon, and then a few clear layers. It was like 4 layers for each. The problem with that was that I did one panel at a time, so the car didnt match up right.

Plus I let a few of my friends guys and girls do like the base coats, just so they could be part of the car. I mean its going to not be the most perfect job, so I might as well have fun with it, and then when they ride in my car they can be part of the work that went into it.

Im relatively happy with how it turned out. I just wish I could have used a better clear coat, because it was all even before that. When I was coatinig the hood, It dried on one side before I got done with the other, so the over spray got on the dry side and made it foggy.

Over all, after I figured out that the nice nozzles worked better it was so much easier. If you have a few days, 50 bucks, and an urge to paint your car, go for it. Its a lot of fun. It might be easier to use a sprayer, but this was a budget job. Its not a show car, and looks good.

Just have fun with it.

And Ill get some more interior shots today. It was dark, so it was hard last night.

And Pirate: your car looks soo nice. When I started mine I was going for a really dark, almost black maroon. The color now is closer to red than I wanted, but its ok. The flakes look really good under those lights though. Personally, I like yours the color it is right now.

When Mine was drying, I thought it was gonna be pink. I was flipping out for a while, but it got better.

thanks fox, yours came out good too. I would recommend you color sand it and then wax/polish it. I think you use like 2000 grit or somewhere around there and just even out the clear/rough it up ever so slightly for the wax to get in and adhere as best as possible. ask a body guy to make sure or I could try and ask the guys who did mine.

I did get it today and I'm about to post up some pics, it came out great(put my wheels on too).

Dittoz7 showed me this article with some info actually: zerothread?id=283991

unfortunately despite beancooker speaking of making a write-up I am not finding such a thing...I know you need to be very careful when sanding and buffing to make sure you don't go through the clear but I have no idea how to tell. I'll try and find out, but personally I'm going to pay for it to be done so I don't have to worry about ruining anything.

That look sick dude. I just got my 240 like a month ago, I would love to get it painted. It is red now but has a little fading and scratches.
