So, I pull around the corner and what do I see in my brother's driveway... his new '02 S15 Spec R. I about had a heart attack; he'd had it for a week and didn't tell me anything. :squint: Needless to say, the rain didn't stop me from grabbing the key and checking it out; although it started pouring while I was sitting inside lol.

He bought it from some old-ish guy in Wisconsin that had the car imported a couple years ago. The car has mild mods and is in pretty good shape, it's only "issues" are:
1) The driver's door lock, which requires a trick to get it to lock.
2) The vacuum line that runs to the boost gauge sensor comes loose, but that's an easy fix.
3) Boost gauge needs a new light bulb
4) Whoever cut the bumper for the FMIC piping did a hack job.
5) Seems to be missing the third brake light. There is an opening in the window tint, but no light. Does anybody know if there is supposed to be a third brake like?
The boost gauge is probably gonna get replaced by an HKS unit, and the front bumper isn't staying either. Sooner or later, it'll be stroked to 2.2L (or maybe get an RB26) and have a widebody kit; painted Porsche "Grey Black" from the current GT3 RS. My brother has been wanting an S15 for... forever; I'm glad he finally has it. Can't wait 'til he gets his tag and insurance so I can drive it while it's still relatively stock; it's my only chance to ever drive it lol. :shifter:

Anyway, here are some more pics provided by the seller.

That is your Sha-ken sticker. Sha-ken is a bi-annual inspection that all cars must go through. The 18 indicates that the next sha-ken is due in the 2nd month (February) of the 18th year of the Heisei period (reign of the current emperor). 2010 is Heisei 22, so 2006 was Heisei 18. That car hasn't had a full inspection since, most likely, 2004.

The stickers have changed somewhat, but not much.

So, now you know what that sticker is.

I don't know if this car had the aero package that included that spoiler. Either way, that spoiler won't be making it's way onto the car, but from what I can see in the FSM, there is supposed to be a "High-Mounted Stop Lamp". I hope the DMV doesn't mind a missing third brake light. "What third brake light? They don't have those in Japan..." :gotme

Not really my choice... I'm just the jealous little brother, lol. :couch

Thanks for the comments all, I've passed the link to this thread on to my brother. I've been trying to convince him to come on the boards, this might do the trick, lol. :fistpumping:

Edit: Gold Digger, thanks dude. :dblthumb: I guessed that it had something to do with emissions inspections, so I was kinda right.

I'm not really sure how much he paid for it, I haven't asked. What I do know is that stateside S15's seem to go for around $16,000 - $18,000. He found it through a lead on the Luxury4Play forums; there was a gray one for sale in North Carolina, and he somehow found out about this one. If you want more info, let me know, or shoot me an email or PM.

Any particular reason for this? Chances are the SR will be kept (RB26's aren't cheap), but my brother wants like 400-450 RWHP in this car, which means the engine won't really be anywhere near stock.

And Carlisle... That's a long trip from Miami; but I'd love to go, but it's not happening this year. Problem is; I'd have a hard time keeping up with the Silvia in my Altima lol. :frown:

Somebody finally bought Ben Taylor's grey market silvia. That's nice! Hope your brother can keep it and not have it impounded and crushed.

I've seen the car in person. Taylor brought it to a local meet that I organized in Green Bay last summer. It's a nice car!
