Hey, I've been looking at this forum for awhile now and finally registered.I just purchased a 1991 240sx hatch. I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet. I've already stripped the interior and sound deading mat. Pics will be up soon.

Becuase it smelled funny...lol. Also weight reduction....I cleaned the floor pans and primed them so I can paint the interior becuase they don't paint under the sound deading mat. from factory. Once I removed it all, I put it all in a bag, its like 10 pounds of dudu...lol.

That has to be a 91. There's no way that engine bay is that clean. Plus the 89 and 90s had a different steering wheel. Also, welcome to Nico. I'm digging the car. Best of luck with it.

Wow I feel like an a$$. It is a 91....lol. Hear is how the story goes...A mechanic at my dealership says hey I know this girl thats looking to get rid of a 240sx. I asked how much she wanted for it and he said you can probally get it for next to nothing. He gave me the girls number and I set up a time to go see it. I knew I wanted a S13 for awhile now so it was an easy choice for me. She told me she just got a new Sentra SER so she just wanted to get rid of it. So I said would you take $250.00 for it? She said sure....I was so excited. So I never looked at the vin badge plate or the title I just made sure she signed it in the right place and took off...lol.I rental a U-hual trailer and got that thing out of there as soon as possible. It was sad that someone would let a car get into that type of condition. She got a new car and just let this poor car just sit in her backyard. She said it was running when she parked it. I noted the battery was dead, but I didn't even care that it was in running condition or not. I had big plans for it. Anyway I got it home charged the battery and tried to start it. It fired right up!!! She said it was sitting for 9moths...lol. The biggest problem was someone had never closed the drivers door so it was open a quater inch. So the interior smelled nasty and the spoiler(rust sponge) was already in the trunk and the mounts were still on hatch...nasty! So I knew I would start on the interior first. I had to...lol. Stripped it all down to my surprise I noted no rust anywhere so i'm very happy. I removed all sound deading material and sanded and prime the floor pan so it would look nice becuase i'm not sure what I 'm going to used it for. I'm not sure if i'm going to have interior or not. Anyway I still feel like an a** for never checking info on title.

not everyone who owns a 240sx is a fanatic. some of them will just let it for a cheap price. anyway, OP, you have a clean car. you should find decent carpet for it. a 240sx with a complete mint interior is a very nice car to have. lots of guys will appreciate it. I replaced all my interior to mint condition and it was well worth it.

I am going to keep the interior its just that the carpet and seats smelled so bad becuase she left the door slightly open and she had two dogs. I even found dog hair behind the panels...gross. I'm some what of a clean freak. She let it go for only $250.00 becuase she doesn't know any better,to her it was just a car sitting in the yard. She already bought a new Sentra so she just didn,t care. Oh well her loss my gain. Sweet! I want to repalce the carpet withh a black one. Any tips would be great help thanks! I'm wondering if a replacement carpet would have the holes for the old seat belts or not. I want to install manual seat belts for a cleaner look and I removed all that power seat belt crap already. Also does anyone have a AC delete kit for it or if I even need one. Also a link to removing the emissions related stuff and cruise control would be a help. Thanks guys happy to be on the forum.

GL with your s13 bro! Get those spoiler holes welded shut, or if its to gone to fix, get a wingless hatch.

AC delete kit? Isn't that just getting a new belt that is the right size so it doesn't have to go around the AC pulley (not sure what size that would be)? and if you want to remove the compressor too as to get rid of the weight, then just get the fluid drained and pull the thing off.

Yeah the holes will be filled. If thats all that it takes to delete ac, thats cool. Really interested about carpet...If anyone has replaced their carpet any info would be great.

what do you need to know? i replaced mine with a black 89-90 carpet from the junkyard. good deal for $15. edit: yes the holes for the autobelts will still be there unless you order a canadian or jdm carpet that came factory with manual belts. correct me if im wrong. i converted to the manual belts and left the holes in the carpet. you kinda foget about them.

I wasn't sure if the replacement carpet(new) would have holes in them or if you can purchase a different model year or something. Also where to get them. My plans are to go with manual belts.

A little advise, stay away from aftermarket carpets. They are very cheap, shed easily, and fitment is generally okay, but is wholly dependent on the installer. I purchased one of these carpets from ACC, I ripped that crap out after a week. Your best bet is going to be finding the carpet out of an 89-90 model. Those years came out with a much more durable rug. I was able to find one in pretty good shape that required about $5 worth of quarters at the car wash to fully clean out.

That being said your removing the tar from the interior for weight saving gets you a standard issue facepalm.
