Hey everyone, this is my first post on these forums. My name is Dylan and I'm 20 years old living in Ontario. I bought this s13 as my first car at the start of last year and have been putting a lot of time and work into it since. When I bought the car it looked like this.

Image
The car came with a set of Work XD9's(17x8.5 front 17x9.5 rear) and Tein lowering springs as well as a Magnaflow catback with an obnoxious can on the back hahah. A few months in I was pretty unimpressed with how soft the springs were and decided to pick up these.

Image
Megan track spec coilovers. After installing my coilovers, I had bought some new rubber and took the annoying muffler off in place of a cherry bomb oval muffler. The car looked like this at the end of the year.

Image
And that's when the big changes were planned for her. The one thing I forgot to mention was it is an automatic which we all no is no fun! That and the KA24DE was getting up there in km's and at the end of the season I had hit a pretty big pothole and messed up my oil pan and pickup for the pump, so in to the garage she went and my winter car was purchased. Next up I picked out a few aesthetics for the car including 20mm wheel spacers, a Nissan OEM front lip, a Nardi Deep Corn suede wheel and Recaro recliner seats. Just this past weekend, my friend and I went to Toronto and picked up the REAL fun stuff.

Image
SR20DET blacktop from a 180sx and a 5 speed! We tore out the KA and got the SR in over the weekend

Image

Image
And that brings me to current date. I am currently working on the rest of the wiring and ordered my ignitor chip since the engine didn't come with one. Apart from that I need to pick up a 5 speed driveshaft, a downpipe and a BOV for the engine. I hope you guys enjoy my progress and I will post up pictures as I receive new parts/get them installed.

Let me know what you guys think!

Hey guys, a little after dinner but I was out in the garage working on the car. Very close to getting it started! Just dealing with a spark issue.. hoping I don't need another damn ignitor chip. But as for my build, here are some updates. Sorry that all these pictures are off my BlackBerry, my D70 is in need of a fixing.

The engine bay has been almost completed and looks like this. I got a full SMIC for 40 dollars so I am using that until I get some more money in the bank for a good quality FMIC and Boost controller :)
Image

Also, this shiny package from Bings showed up!
Image

Also, here is a picture of my seats I got for 200 bucks, matches my suede Nardi Deep Corn.
Image

Here is one of the buckets in the car, I am still looking for bolts to bolt my Recaro in(Sitting a little too high, I may just mount it to my seat bracket, no rails)
Image

That gets you pretty up to speed with my build currently. I need to find a clutch kit and get a driveshaft and order a hub/quick release for my steering wheel. Can't wait to hear this fire up for the first time!

Hey guys, who knows what this wire does? It is shorting out my system. We were going to try and start the car for the first time last night but obviously with it shorting we couldn't connect that wire, we tried without the wire and I had no spark or fuel? Any help would be very appreciated!

Hey nice hatch, The one seat is a Recaro SRD? For that seat you will need the bride MO seat rail to get it to sit a bit lower but its still going to be high. Thats the setup i have in my car but I'm still looking for a way to keep the sliders and get lower. Is the other seat a fake?

The one is a real Recaro and the passenger is obviously a fake. I am using custom made seat brackets so the seat sits about the same height as the fake one but you actually sit lower in the Recaro seat itself.

Spent about 4 more hours dealing with wiring today. Was finally nice enough to roll the car out to the driveway to work on which was nice but after all that time spent on the car it still doesn't start. No spark, although there is now fuel. The harness that I got with the engine is hacked up and I'm thinking repairing it is beyond our capabilities, so I am going to order a wiring specialties harness and go from there.

Here it is sitting in monster truck mode, it was pretty nice to work outside on it but we got nowhere. No spark/fuel from injectors. I talked to Yury and my new harness is on the way so I am hoping that my problems will be solved with that. I promise next time I update it will be a real one guys hahah.

Alright, finally an update worth posting. Thanks to Yury, my engine problems were solved with a new wiring harness and after installing it, this happened!

http://vimeo.com/39124446

On top of that, I bought another card for my camera so I can finally stop using my BlackBerry for pictures, so here are a few from today when I finished installing my new seats and lowered my coilovers back down to regular height :)

Also a better picture of my downpipe and elbow awaiting some flanges.

So that is it for now, currently waiting on my slave cylinder and brake/clutch pedal in the mail as well as my steering wheel hub for my Nardi. Apart from that I need to finish routing my heater core hose and put a driveshaft in and my swap is complete, hope you guys enjoy

Thank you! When it finally cranked over and started up I was SO relieved. Almost every time I'm in the garage working on the car I'll fire it up and let it idle for a bit, timing is spot on and idles so smooth.

A very poor picture of my finished up interior and a little teaser of the car all finished up. The last touches are being done Friday which is installing my clutch line and hooking my power steering lines back up and then it's ready to take it's first drive with the sr20! Very excited.

Ahhh...lucky. The sr20s have such a unique sound, and super durable! Mine sat for 4 years collecting dust, turned key and started right up. Simply amazing. When you hook that power steering lines back up be careful with the high and low pressure connections at the steering rack. The threads on the connections fold over quite easily.

Well I took it out for a rip this weekend after installing my clutch pedals, no power steering as I need to weld my deleted HICAS plug closed on the reservoir. But damn! Such a difference from the tired and automatic ka24. Tons of power and everything runs smooth. My idle is still a little high though, resting at about 1300rpm after warm up so I am going to check for air leaks and clean my throttle body up. I am getting my exhaust welded up this week and then it's off to see if I can get this thing through an e test hahaha. Here is a picture of how it currently sits!

Haven't updated my thread in a while, been busy driving my car hahah. Passed a "hot rod" emissions test without a problem so it's been road legal for a while now and I've been smoothing out all the little bumps. I ended up raising the car back up a little but because I was murdering my cat on any bump or crest in the road. I also tucked my wiring loom up over my fender well since my left front tire liked to rub on it over bumps. Had a small overheating issue but flushing the rad and using a higher concentrate fixed that up pretty well and found two vaccum leaks that were bumping my idle up. Now the car runs great and I'm saving up for my next round of upgrade! Here is a picture from the weekend while I was out with my buddy(Whose Caliber makes 340whp @17psi)

Hey guys, a few small updates.

We went to Toronto's big stance meet, Stretch&Poke's "Fitted" showcase and it was an awesome turnout, over 400 cars showed up. The follows pictures are courtesy of some blogs who covered the show!

Image

Image

That day my car overheated quite badly so when I took a look at the cooling system during the week I found out my 'stat housing was cracked. Bummer, but I ordered a replacement and a new Mishimoto 62 degree thermostat which keeps the car running at perfect temp! I also did the cheap hood prop mod.

Image

A shot of the engine bay. It was CAKED in oil and grime from the old leaking KA24 and I've been doing my best to rehabilitate it to a decent state hahaha. I've painted a few things(Intercooler piping, heat shields, clutch fan, coolant tank) and have invested a lot of elbow grease into the bay! This is how it currently looks.

Image

Finally, a little bit of the interior of the car which seemed to be much better taken car of while the car was in it's previous owners hand, no cracks in the dash or cluster :) And my baller suede Nari wheel!

Image

So next up for the car is a boost gauge/mech controller so I know it's making a proper number, some new RUCA's to align the butt end and a HICAS lock bar since I'm getting very tired of floating through sweeping corners :rotfl

Let me know what you think!

Here is a rolling shot from today, as well as some new parts that were recently installed and a picture of my old very tired tie rod ends.. I knew they were bad but DAMN!

Image

So there we are. The car is running 10psi now and also has Circuit Sports RUCA's installed as well. I only have about a month and a half left of driving before I start to work on prepping it for winter but the currently plans for this winter will be to replace my clutch and release/throw out bearing, get a FMIC and BOV instead of the stock setup so I can run some more boost. As well as installed some parts I have laying around(Screamer pipe, some JDM bits, HICAS lock bar, new hanger bearing) and hopefully clean the car up some more!

What do you guys think?

Dont worry its not your build, its just Nico... :)

Build still looks legit, and great choice with the type x. That would be the only setup I would consider swapping my Sil front for. :dblthumb:

Thanks guys!

Bob, I really like how the type x looks as a complete kit, also the Sil80 would be my second choice visa versa to you hahah, I was actually looking at the Silvia conversion as I picked my type x kit up!

This weekend I will get some pictures of the car before it gets torn down, as well as some more pictures of the winter goodies. Trying to work as much as I can so I can buy more quality parts!

I got a new card for my D70 since the other one corrupted on me :( I took a better picture of my parts thus far and took a picture of the car in its last stage as a Chuki s13. This weekend I am draining fluids and starting to take the engine bay apart to pull the engine out now that the car is parked for winter. Patiently saving up for the long list of parts!

Hey all

Got some free time over the weekend to work on the car. Still saving up as much money as I can for the build this winter so I haven't ordered many parts yet but I've got my cart filled and ready to go at FRSport when it's time.

Anyways, over the weekend I got around to draining all my fluids and getting some stabilizer in the tank. Then I started tearing down the front end so I can pull my engine and transmission out and got rid of the bumper/bumper support so I can fit the FMIC up. Took my rad out and unhooked all my engine wiring connections and vacuum lines while I labeled and bagged all my nuts/bolts. All I have left to do before pulling the engine out now is unhook my exhaust. So here are some pictures

Taking my wheels off and getting it on jack stands so I can unbolt my bumper.
Image

Took out my sidemount intercooler since I won't be need it anymore, and it was in the way of some of the bolts to get my bumper off :)
Image

Up on jack stands. I need to buy some small ones so I can get them in a more ideal spot! Bumper and reinforcement removed.
Image

Rad out, bumper gone(I test fitted my type x just to see how sexy it is going to look :dblthumb: )
Image

And now on to one of the issues I'll be dealing with this winter. The only spot of rust on this car is right here. I plan on cutting it out and having some new metal welded in after spraying some inhibitor/cleaning up the surrounding area.
Image

And this is how I left it, ready to come out and get some well deserved work done to it!
Image

The first things I am going to do when I take the engine out will be getting the valve cover off so I can replace my gasket which was starting to leak, instal Tomei RAS while it is opened up and paint my valve cover. I am also removing my turbo and redoing all gaskets as it developed a wonderful leak from the exhaust being banged around(Bad hangers and a crappy catback system which will be addressed) and replacing my water pump since it started to leak at the end of the season. I'll also be cleaning everything in my engine bay and hopefully painting it to make it look a little nicer.
