thanks a lot. I definetly wont let the lead foot get the best of me with this car, because verts are so rare and this is too special to demolish or beat on. I do have a question though. I have an auto as you can see, and after driving for a while when I stop (at a light or stop sign) it starts to idle really rough and it even died once. I was told that the strainer in the transmission needs to be cleaned, is this true? thanks in advance

I find this very hard to believe. I would look at other things first. I had a similar issue with my Coupe.

Do the RPM's drop at all (anywhere below 800 or so?) and then want to bog down and off? Or is this happening at a higher RPM?

What happened in my coupe was that I would come to a stop and my rpm's would drop low enough to where the car would want to turn off.As a quick fix, I adjusted the idle just a little bit higher and I never had the problem again.

Hope this helps

it happens at a stop and it drops below 800 far enough for it to actually die. Im taking it into a transmission shop for a free diagnosis

Super clean vert !! Good luck getting the idle problem repaired. It doesn't sound like anything serious though.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that your idle problem is not at all related to the transmission whatsoever.

You've got some vacuum or fuel related issue going on. You should check to make sure all your vacuum lines are hooked up. Does the car run rich when this happens?

Anyways, welcome aboard. That's a nice looking vert you've got there. Thanks for not making me bust your balls for pictures.

When you're looking at the engine on the left side right next to the fan, you will see a little hose from intake pipe going under the intake manifold. Disconnect it, spray half can of carb cleaner in there and start the car. It should clean up IACV and see what happens. Also search IACV(Idle Air Control Valve) on nico and read some threads.

And, like dexter said transmission has nothing to do with this.

actually guys, on the auto, the torque converter can go bad in many ways and could cause it to pull on the engine hard after it warms up. so saying it's def not the transmission could make him overlook something.

nategreat... do you notice that the torque converter locks after it shifts into 4th on the highway? does it lock really rough, or not lock at all? these could also be signs that tell you theres something wrong with that. but check the simpler things first like dex and 94 said. if its your TC (torque converter) then you gotta lower the trans and replace it. perfect time to go with a 5sp swap

well Im debating a) keeping this stock while getting a beater hatch to drift b) silvia front clip and swapping the SR in with the RHD swap or c) 5 speed swap with a KA24DE-T

It could be a fuel injector. HAHA i actually just replaced one of mine because the same thing was happening. wen i would stop it would idle rough sometimes stall or felt like it was about to stall. You could check it wit a multimeter, check ohms on injector so be between 9 and 14 i believe, and then use a noid light to check if it is getting any electrical current to the injector. It may be one bad cylinder, sumtin wit compression, U may have a vacuum leak, or may just need to adjust the idle. Good luck finding wuts wrong and fixing it.

BTW if your wondering i changed the injector today and WOW wut a ****ing difference!!!!

C) 5 speed swap with the KA-T!

... and a roll cage

hehe, that's just my opinion.

haha no, i wish, but we think its the injectors, so when we turbo it im gunna buy stock SR20 370cc injectors and hope/ pray that it fixes it. And I just picked that TD04 up today for 50$
