That is the high beam for sure, blue light to it Sometimes I had that light on for when my headlamp wiring wasn't done correctly when the previous owner put in some gauges. My high beams switched on automatically because the normal driving lights were off due to wiring error in taking power from the headlight switch and not the dash lights. Make sure your brights aren't on when you drive, could mean your bulbs are out or something related to the failure of your normal low beams

if its not bulbs or easy to spot wiring, check fuses and relays

It's actually just a 'Lights' light, it comes on when any of the lights are not functioning properly, typically either a tail or brake light. The most common one that I've seen is the third brake light which can be hard to see if only one bulb is burnt out.

i think you're mistaken silvertwin (or it was changed after 90). the 'lights' light is red, says 'lights' on it, and is in the lower right with the other warning lights. (out of the diagram he attached)

i know specifically, cause mine's always on.

Actually we are both correct as it did indeed change after the 90 model LOL.

I thought the Lights light came on to let you know when ever you applied the brakes

If this did in fact change from 91 on, Simonsays21, then your messing around in the hatch might have knocked a filament or a connector loose. Check to see what is lit n what is not when you have the lights on and you should find it out.

My question is why would nissan even bother to mess with the "lights" warning indicator at all... waste of resources, time, and money

Your friend either knocked a connector loose or broke one of the bulbs. Check all of the connections and check all of the bulbs. Also If you do not use OEM Nissan bulbs the light will always come on. You have to have nissan bulbs because the system uses a set resistance to determine if a bulb is out or not. Good Luck.

Dustin, I am planning on a LED conversion i have been custom making awhile now. Would I have to use bulbs in addition with these new lights to keep the light from going on or equal the same amount of power usage as the OEM nissan bulbs?

Would it be better to just to take out the brake light option if I do something like this or what do you suggest?

Sim0nsays21, make sure you are checking brake and running lights seperately also check your third break light in the middle. I don't have many more ideas if you checked all that along with fuses and any coresponding relays... Sry
