You Alti-bois need to venture out of your own forum to read some information.

The 2 degree advance WILL NOT increase HP by 10-20. That's not to say that the puppy-d0g can't do it, just not via the advance.

Also, 35 hp? Hahahaha. Oh, you guys were serious? The 306 on a VQ35DE? With or without mods? Are you talking about the VQ35HR which has a 7500 rpm rev limit, dual symetrical intakes and a vastly improved exhaust? Not to mention beefed up internals?

Research boys. Research!!!

I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine and he's in somewhat agreement with Sentiment. Advancing the timing 2 degrees will only make the ignition spark 2 degrees before TDC. Makes sense. It MIGHT give it a little horse power but without actually putting an AC on a DYNO and getting before and after numbers, no one really knows.

We all have to remember that building motors is a cause and effect phenomena. Nissan has put it a lot of effort in refining the VQ35DE to get as much HP out of the it but in the same time making sure it is safe for the consumer. They do this by putting in rev limiters and WOT restrictions and and other countermeasures. If we remove it by doing this mod, (replacing a modified mapping into the flash ECU) how much HP is gained and what will suffer from doing it.Case in point..The underdrive pulley for the 3.5. Doing this mod will yield probably 10HP or more depending on other mods that are already present. However, what suffers from this mod is power steering. It's a little harder now since the pulley is now spinning slower than OEM. High end electronics might suffer due to the decreased speed of the pulley on the alternator. Get the picture.

In the end, it is up to the individual to make his/her own risk assessment of the possible HP gained and what might suffer because of the mod. For me, I'm sticking to the tried and true HP gain mod such as headers (when they finally come out) Racingline's Y-Pipe, etc.

If and when I put a turbo on my coupe, maybe then I'll revisit this area. But that would be only to get the most out of the turbo / motor.

Its all good, i just wanted some edamucation. I think i understand what it means to advance the timing now.

Heck yeah im going to the party!!!!!!! i went to his last party but i had to freaken work at 5am the next day, and i drove. which is a good thing i drove, because i only had 4 beers.

This time, since my ankle is broken and i dont have to work. It is so on!!!

u goin?
I'm planning on being there. Working it out with my other half

I never said the VQ35DE was the HR lol. You just proved that with proper equipment additions and the PowerPup there shouldn't be a reason the Alti VQ couldn't be whopping out 300+
michaelthepsycho wrote:with extensive work of course but I'm just saying there's definitely potential
and like I said before, the Honda Civic Si tune pulls 98.5 hp / liter; they should teach the Nissan guys to not give the QR25DE such weak connecting rods for the piston among a bundle of other minor imprefections. Obviously I'm speaking out of 2.5 regret lol but I still love my car.

Honda is known for super efficiency. Gotta love them. I don't care for the styling though.

As for the DE vs HR... A completely different intake design from scoop to intake manifold including the addition of dual throttles is a HUGE "equipment addition". Stonger valve springs, larger journals...etc is basically building the engine for boost lol.

I'm NOT trying to disuade any A/C owners from trying to attain 300hp N/A, just trying to clarify that a generic fuel map and 2 degrees of timing advance isn't going to gain you 36 peak HP.

I do believe that the 2 degree advance is beneficial. Especially if you're willing to run higher octane gas. I would be concerned if you ran 87 with the 2 degree advance, but it's your car.

Here's a little comparison for you guys. A buddy of mine in the G section has an 04 G sedan. It's got DC headers, Megan hi-flow cats, and a Stillen exhaust.

Intake includes a Motordyne plenum spacer, motordyne Aramid heat gasket, throttle spacer, and a JWT pop-charger.

Oh and a UR underdrive pulley.

So basically, he has all the breathing and "farting" mods you can do to the G. Base rated power to the crank is 280hp. With a tune, he put down 256.4 hp to the rear wheels.

He's got an automatic with the 2 degree advance done.

I on the other hand, have the rev-up engine and without a tune and with very minimal mods, I put down 273 to the wheels.

Just food for thought. Not any real proof.

Cancel the order as soon as you can. Besides you guys can't do anything till a mod approves this anyway.

Hey guys, i just moved so i havent had internet...

Why dont you ask STILLEN what they can do on price for this, its much easier for a sponsor to offer the deals rather than trying to get another company to become a sponsor for a GB.

Ok good idea, I just emailed stillen to see what they think about it. I'll email Tyler to tell him to wait before contacting the other guys that arn't sponsors yet, until we get a response from stillen.

I've heard of Lager, but beer in general doesn't do it for me. I've actually sipped...yes sipped on coronas until they were warm.

I typically like hard liquor and wine over beer.

X-Rated (One of the BEST "girly" liquors available)Hypnotiq- better than alizzeVanilla Vodka- Not that smirnoff crap.VodkaPatronSake- SUPER favorite of mine with Sushi

Nevermind. This list would go on forever.

So, about that bully dog...

I'm very interested in the GB. Going to one of the Bully Dog dealer's around my area this weekend and try it out. If it's as good as they state, then sign me up for the GB.

Oh, and wtf is up with on the Grade scale "Epic Fail"?!?! That's the one and only thing that looks odd in my opinion coming from a reputable vendor.

Yeah they Do! Stillen Does Rock and special Thanks to LBC for pointing us to that direction! Personally, I'd rather do business with Stillen than some other competitor.

Yeah... but dealing with one supplier first then going to Stillen... against my business ethics. Although I would rather deal with Stillen, just conflicting my business morals class.

Say what? Did you already order from another company and now feel bad because you can get a better deal from Stillen?

If you heard about the product through another company and Stillen is offering it for less, then there really isn't any moral issue.

At first i agreed that it was bad to deal with another company and then jump to stillen, but its all about the best price.
