Did I already mess up?ScorchedNX2K wrote:NB4...that...guy...can't remember his name...Chris2.0SR wrote:I want to get into some mods and so a little bit of autocross
Oh, welcome
I was planning on getting some different wheels and tires, but right now, that seems like the most expensive mod out of the whole lot. I guess I really need to find some specific items and get a list of prices. The only problem with that is that I cant find any parts besides some lowering springs and a short ram CAI. Does anyone know where I can find parts?elwesso wrote:welcome to NICO!
For an auto-x scenario, by far the best thing you can do is get good tires.. None of the other crap will mean anything without good tires.. Find a set of steelies or something and get some track tires... The sentra should be a nearly ideal autocross car in its stock form.. Most basic things like exhaust, intakes, sway bars, etc wouldnt void a factory warranty, but obviously if something broke they wouldnt replace it if its not an OEM part.. Likewise things could get iffy, say for instance you bought an aftermarket sway bar and needed an end link replaced, that might not be covered.
Like I said, get some sticky tires and go flog it.. then see what you wanna do.
So are you guys being serious or sarcastic? I'm not sure whether I'm pissing people off or I actually will fit in, lol. This place is alot different than the LS1 forum........PEZi720 wrote:autocross.... yeah... we do that here
you'll fit in well
lol... take a look at my car under my avatar.... not being sarcasticChris2.0SR wrote:

Ah, lol. Gotcha. Just tryin not to make a fool out of myself from the get go.PEZi720 wrote:lol... take a look at my car under my avatar.... not being sarcasticChris2.0SR wrote:

Neither really. I just dont really know anyone on here yet, so it feels weird getting onto a new forum. LS1 is a really chill place and you can get away with a lot of craziness on there whereas other forums that I've been on have been very uptight and you get the banhammer for 1 thing, no second chances. Just dont want to step on any toes is all. But it looks like I'll fit in here just fine. Is it acceptable to make fun of stupid ricers on this site, or are they lurking on here as well? I figured Nissans were pretty safe from rice. Just glad I didnt decide to buy a Honda, lol.infiniti_lineup wrote:Is that a goodChris2.0SR wrote: This place is alot different than the LS1 forum........or bad

P.S. you need TIRES!
Tires are the single most important part of your car. To quote a Lamborghini test driver (who's name I can never remember) "Everything on your car is there to make the tires work, including the driver." They are the only part of your car that makes contact with the track. Cool, lol. I havent officially joined the SCCA yet but I have the rulebook and everything and I have a couple of friends who are part of it already. I'm gonna wait until next season begins to sign up though.nissangirl74 wrote:You'll do fine here. Are you going to be racing for points or for fun? If you are going to be part of an organization (such as SCCA), you need to find out what their rules are before you start tearing apart your car. I do the exact same thing with all of my cars with the K&N filter. I swear by them, lol. As for tires, should I do just tires or should I upgrade the rims as well? That stuff gets kinda pricy but I dont know if there are any good tires that will fit the stock wheels.OrigninalWheelman wrote:Tires are the single most important part of your car. Welcome to the club! Don't let the drifters get to you. There are a lot of them here because the S chassis is such a popular drifter but it is by no means the whole of our membership. The best advice I can give you to avoid being flamed is search first, ask questions later. Check out the Sentra forum here.

As far as mods go, I'm a big fan of Nismo, and as far as I know, if installed at a dealer none of them will void your warranty.

I'm not sure what, if anything they have for your car in particular, but it's worth looking into. The Nismo suspension on my friends Versa turned it into a totally different car.
Again, welcome, and enjoy your stay!
*edit* Don't forget a K&N filter. I put one on every car I own. Letting your car breathe is better for mileage and performance.
Lol, I'll try not too. I was thinking of getting a 240 as a project car later, but maybe I wont.troskinatior wrote:Please for the love of god dont go into the 240sx section, you will automaticly become retarted. And we need pic of the car that had the ls1

Just don't start too many fights. More importantly, just stay away from 240 gen chat.Chris2.0SR wrote:Is it acceptable to make fun of stupid ricers on this site, or are they lurking on here as well? I figured Nissans were pretty safe from rice. Just glad I didnt decide to buy a Honda, lol.
Don't upgrade wheels for autocross... it will more than likely bump you into ST class and you'll get owned hardcore. What you can do is buy a second set of wheels you like for street use with whatever tires you want... then keep the stock ones for your race tires (Hoosier A6's are the 'best' for autocross). You will need real race tires in order take your competition competitively, but for just starting out you can get a set of decent tires to get used to the sport with first.Chris2.0SR wrote:

flohtingPoint wrote:DO NOT DO SPRINGS. Springs will put you into a base class of at least ST, which you will get eaten alive in (a sentra would be the backmarker of all backmarkers in that class). Read the rule book and as I suggested to another one of our members, build for G-Stock. G-Stock is your best bet.
Awesome. So heres what it seems I need to do.PEZi720 wrote:G-Stock will allow you to upgrade struts (KONI Race Valved would be best), front sway bar, catback exhaust, air filter and race tires just to name a few

Cannot remove rear sway, that's considered a modification. Besides, in a FWD car, you want that rear sway.PEZi720 wrote: in stock you can only upgrade front sway... not rear... if i remember correctly you can remove the rear, however, if you'd like
intake IS NOT allowed... just the filter... intake puts you in ST as well
