New guy on here. I've got a 2010 Nissan Sentra 2.0 SR in Metallic Blue. I want to get into some mods and so a little bit of autocross, but I'm not sure what kind of things would violate the warranty. I haven't been able to find very much after market stuff for the car. I've been looking for things like strut bars and sway bars. I've found some springs, so that's already covered. And for the exhaust, would cat-back exhaust for an SE-R fit on a 2.0SR since it comes down the same side of the car? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!

welcome to NICO!

For an auto-x scenario, by far the best thing you can do is get good tires.. None of the other crap will mean anything without good tires.. Find a set of steelies or something and get some track tires... The sentra should be a nearly ideal autocross car in its stock form.. Most basic things like exhaust, intakes, sway bars, etc wouldnt void a factory warranty, but obviously if something broke they wouldnt replace it if its not an OEM part.. Likewise things could get iffy, say for instance you bought an aftermarket sway bar and needed an end link replaced, that might not be covered.

Like I said, get some sticky tires and go flog it.. then see what you wanna do.

I was planning on getting some different wheels and tires, but right now, that seems like the most expensive mod out of the whole lot. I guess I really need to find some specific items and get a list of prices. The only problem with that is that I cant find any parts besides some lowering springs and a short ram CAI. Does anyone know where I can find parts?

Tires will get you the most bang for the buck, autocross wise, with your car in stock form.

Is that a good :) or bad :frown: thing?
Neither really. I just dont really know anyone on here yet, so it feels weird getting onto a new forum. LS1 is a really chill place and you can get away with a lot of craziness on there whereas other forums that I've been on have been very uptight and you get the banhammer for 1 thing, no second chances. Just dont want to step on any toes is all. But it looks like I'll fit in here just fine. Is it acceptable to make fun of stupid ricers on this site, or are they lurking on here as well? I figured Nissans were pretty safe from rice. Just glad I didnt decide to buy a Honda, lol. :chuckle:

You'll do fine here. The longer you stay with us, the more you'll realize that there is a certain level of sarcasm in our day to day language. ;-)
Are you going to be racing for points or for fun? If you are going to be part of an organization (such as SCCA), you need to find out what their rules are before you start tearing apart your car. Sometimes mods can disqualify you from being able to compete at certain levels. We have several people here who are avid auto-crossers. They'll help you out.

P.S. you need TIRES!

Tires are the single most important part of your car. To quote a Lamborghini test driver (who's name I can never remember) "Everything on your car is there to make the tires work, including the driver." They are the only part of your car that makes contact with the track. (if you're doing it right lol)

Welcome to the club! Don't let the drifters get to you. There are a lot of them here because the S chassis is such a popular drifter but it is by no means the whole of our membership. As far as mods go, I'm a big fan of Nismo, and as far as I know, if installed at a dealer none of them will void your warranty.

http://www.nissanusa.com/nismo/

I'm not sure what, if anything they have for your car in particular, but it's worth looking into. The Nismo suspension on my friends Versa turned it into a totally different car.

Again, welcome, and enjoy your stay! :bigthumb:

*edit* Don't forget a K&N filter. I put one on every car I own. Letting your car breathe is better for mileage and performance.

I do the exact same thing with all of my cars with the K&N filter. I swear by them, lol. As for tires, should I do just tires or should I upgrade the rims as well? That stuff gets kinda pricy but I dont know if there are any good tires that will fit the stock wheels.
As for the NISMO stuff, the last time I checked their website, which was just the other day, they did not even have my car listed on there. I didnt see ther Versa on their either. But if your friend has NISMO parts on his Versa, then they might make some for the new Sentra too. I guess I'll have to contact the dealership and see if they know anything.
And the drifters wont get to me, lol. I enjoy drifting. It's the ricers that annoy me. And by ricers, I mean people who only put body kits and stickers and rediculous things on their cars, and pay no attention to functionality and performance.

Lol, I'll try not too. I was thinking of getting a 240 as a project car later, but maybe I wont.

LS1 Car:

My current project car.

Non LS1 Cars:

My old dd and very first car. Finally died after 246,xxx miles. This is how it spent the majority of its time............

The older T/A is one my dad and I built. We have 3 others as well. The first is a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am 455 #'s matching 4speed in Firethorn Red. The second is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am SE that is being restored to factory spec to be sold. And the third is 1979/1981 Pontiac Trans Am that has been gutted completely and will be a street legal racecar. It's currently under construction, but when done, it will have full Corvette C5 suspension, a custom subframe, a "triple-threat" rear end that can go between 3link and 4link so that it can be set up for autocross, drag, or pro-touring/time attack. It has an all aluminum 535 that makes 750hp at the flywheel, all motor, no nitrous or turbo or supercharger. And that's on 93 octane pump gas. My dad grew up with Trans Ams so that's what he does for fun, lol.

DO NOT DO SPRINGS. Springs will put you into a base class of at least ST, which you will get eaten alive in (a sentra would be the backmarker of all backmarkers in that class). Read the rule book and as I suggested to another one of our members, build for G-Stock. G-Stock is your best bet.

Don't upgrade wheels for autocross... it will more than likely bump you into ST class and you'll get owned hardcore. What you can do is buy a second set of wheels you like for street use with whatever tires you want... then keep the stock ones for your race tires (Hoosier A6's are the 'best' for autocross). You will need real race tires in order take your competition competitively, but for just starting out you can get a set of decent tires to get used to the sport with first.

G-Stock will allow you to upgrade struts (KONI Race Valved would be best), front sway bar, catback exhaust, air filter and race tires just to name a few

Awesome. So heres what it seems I need to do.

Get wheels for the street
race tires on stock wheels
struts
sway bars
intake
catback exhaust

Now, does anyone know where I can find any of these parts for a '10 Sentra 2.0?
And does a catback for a '10 SE-R fit on a 2.0 model? I've heard that it does, but I wanted some confirmation from people who seem to know what they're talking about.

almost

in stock you can only upgrade front sway... not rear... if i remember correctly you can remove the rear, however, if you'd like
intake IS NOT allowed... just the filter... intake puts you in ST as well

Cannot remove rear sway, that's considered a modification. Besides, in a FWD car, you want that rear sway.

Yep, just grab a k/n drop in filter or something along those lines.
