Hello everyone, the name is DAVE!

Nice to meet ya'll, and well i'm in the market to purchase me a new car. As of right now i'm inbetween the altima coupe 2.5s/3.5se or a civic si. I can't seem to make my decision. But i am falling more towards the altima.

Question 1:Which is faster the 3.5se or civic si?

Question 2: (kinda random)What makes that sick stock exhaust note on a G35, i kinda want to replicate it on the altima coupe if i get one since its the similar VQ engine.

THANK YOU ALL, MERRY X-MAS!

First off, welcome to NICO!

Secondly, no, the G35 sound is not the exhaust, it's all motor. The Altima and G35 share the same VQ so you can replicate the sound. Perfect example is installing the INJEN intake on the 3.5; it makes the Altima sound almost exactly like the G35/350Z. I posted a how-to quite a while ago with pics and vid clips. Check out this thread ---> zerothread?id=281295 and you'll see what I mean. It's all motor so go with the 3.5 Altima if you want the speed and sound.

Well if you are choosing an Si vs a 2.5s, i would get the 2.5s for looks but Si for speed.

if you are a boy racer, you can turbo a Civic Si for the price of a 3.5se.

As for speed:2.5 < Si < 3.5 < Si Turbo

I personally think Honda are more fun to drive because they are equiped with V-Tec

All depends on your preference...

Altima 3.5SE is faster than the Civic Si. Get an Injen intake and you will have a nice sound on the VQ as well.

civic si? have any of you 3.5 coupe or sedan owners had the pleasure of racing a civic si. I've raced a couple and it's nasty how much they lose by. The comparison should be in the sentra forum cause the car really isn't in the same class. Maybe it's a good match for the 2.5's, i think the si will beat the 2.5s, but not for certain. What's quicker?a/c 2.5s or the Sentra se-r?

lol, speaking of the Sentra SE-R, there was one in SD when we went to Ryan's place to see the roof-overlay installed. They told us it whooped Ryan's G35's ***

Was the SE-R stock? And also.. it's been bugging me for a while. How could they make a sentra have more horsepower than the 2.5 coupes.. no sense at all. The gap between the 3.5 and 2.5 is 95 hp.. thats a bit large.. anyone else agree?

it's more like 100hp. 170hp - 2.5s < 270hp - 3.5seeven the 3.5se maxima only comes with 250hp.why 20hp less than the a/c? what's the difference between the two?

California 2.5's have 170 hp, the 2.5's in every other state has 175hp.

The 3.5 in the maxima is tuned diffrently than in the Altima... that's why you get different HP's in the G35, A/C, etc. It's all in how they tune the VQ

Oh, and and shift perfection, yes the SE-R was stock, but I thought they raced on a course Johnny, not just a straight up 1/4 mile!

did anyone check to see is "mrs. daisy" was riding biotch in the SI. Maybe they weren't racing at all, but just out for a sunday cruise. The civic si's aren't that fast, but they'll slowly pull away from the 2.5s. it's a good match up all in all.

By the time you even get the SI close to "comparably equipped" your at 25,689 MSRP (197 HP). But then, you still gotta smaller car that feels a whole lot smaller, and, well, you just cant beat the VQ's sound!

For my money the 3.5SE was and is a great car...120% no regrets!! personally, I like it over the accord coupe, REGARDLESS of what anyone says.

In a straight up race? Stock? hmmm maybe, people on the net have stated their stock Si could run as fast as 14.3 in the 1/4 mile... that's some BS.. in real world conditions, an Si won't beat a 3.5 straight up, but I do think it would smoke the 2.5

2006 Honda Civic SI 7.2 15.1 (Edmonds)2006 Honda Civic Si 6.3 14.9 (MotorTrend.com)

i got that from this site http://www.albeedigital.com/su....html

it has a lot of stock 1/4 mile times. theres no way a stock SI can beat a 3.5se Altima Coupe. i have a 3.5se Altima coupe with CVT and it's a lot faster then people give it credit. if you look on youtube, i have a couple vids of me racing my friend's 2005 SRT-4. he has mods done to the SRT-4 and i still beat him in "D" up to about 110 or 120 mph. his car should be faster (he's a ****ty driver) but he goes around looking for races every night and wins 95% of the time. so if i beat him and he beats all these other cars, it makes me feel confident in my coupe lol haven't gotten a chance to take it to the track yet. i was supposed to go when my brother takes his C5 but now he's having problems with his transmission.

The SI will probably beat the Altima 2.5. In fact, the Sentra SE-R will probably be faster than the 2.5 Altima too because it is much lighter.

I have the 6mt 3.5, but know for a fact your friend is full of it. The cvt 3.5coupe will own the civic si. there's really nothing to talk about there. maybe he raced a 2.5s with the emblems removed. alot of people around here are doing that cause the exhaust looks the same and you can't really tell until you hear the sound of the motor.

Actually, if you take a closer look, the exhausts are different. Also, the stock wheels are different. Furthermore, the 3.5SE has turn signals on the side mirrors, while the 2.5S does not.

Welcome!

I see you're from Fontana, I am too mang, where you at?

Well anyways, you'll love the purchase with the 3.5 coupe. Also if you're looking at a base model 3.5 with cloth seats, no packages, etc. you'll end up paying around 26k, like I did. Will you be going to Fontana Nissan? IMO I would not go there, go to Empire in Ontario, much better dealership.

I still don't think it sounds identical to the G, but close enough.

I agree its close, but not exact.

Will probably sound very sweet. That Nismo exhaust is quite pricey though.

yeah it is quite pricey. around 750 + free self install. that's really not that bad for what you're getting though. I mean c'mon, the laser etching has to be worth at least 400 on it own =P. doesn anyone here have the nismo exhaust for the 3.5A/C yet or will i be the first?
