The A8 has been one of my favorite cars since its inception, and I'm glad to see that Audi, unlike many other brands I can name, has chosen to keep it's classy car looking classy. No Acura tribal tattoo garbage or Infiniti 7-story-tall creased fenders or Bangled behinds or any of that crap. Just classic sedan proportions with some tastefully aggressive cues and a few modern bits to keep it looking contemporary.

Now, for the eye candy:

Look at that, a proper roofline on a modern luxury sedan.Granted Audi has the A6-based A7 on the way for the mentally-challenged "My wang is so small that I have to convince myself my sedan is really a coupe and my rear passengers' headroom be damned" market. But this isn't the A7, so that's beside the point.

A8 powerplant in the US is a single-turbo 4.2 V8, while the S8 due next year will have a turbocharged version of the Lambo/Audi V10.

The S8 should tote the mail rather nicely!

The first two generations of the A8 had much more conservative behinds:

It really does have a LOT in common with the new A4, styling-wise.Let Audi stand as a shining example of how to do brand-identity styling RIGHT. The A4 is beautiful, and the A8 takes what the A4 does well and applies it to a better scale for even better results.

Beautiful car. The only downside to them is if Audi continues to use all aluminum bodies for them. Sticker shock body repairs for those that have fender benders.

The A8 is nice and is designed to blend in which it does rather well. Some Europeans find other biG luxo cars to be vulgar or too flash.

I've always been a 7 Series guy and still am. What's wrong with this?

Or a Mercedes.

That Audi looks boring. I'm not 60yrs old yet.

I'm a 7 guy as well (I'd even be happy with a Bangle 7). My favorite sedan EVER is the E38. In fact it's probably top-5 cars of any kind for me.

As for the new F01:zerothread?id=367340

As for the E65 Alpina B7, I'd have been a lot more impressed if it used the V12 rather than the V8.

A8's are surprisingly agile on a race track for such a big heavy car. I know two people who've taken theirs to the track (for fun). They're not old fart cars.

Guess from MODs Pics.

I really hope they changed the LED Pattern in the headlights.

Cause the ones on the unveiling looked like some type of bug.

I like it. It has a real clean, smooth look that doesn't scream at you (unlike the new 7 series). And like Bubba said, I'm sure it handles pretty well.

I LOVE the E38 7 series. Great styling, perfect proportions. Definitely in my top 5 sedans.

The Audi A8's side designing reminds me of the '68 Mercury Cougar (which is not a bad thing).

My dad used to have a green '68 (I think) Cougar. It was a beautiful car.
Get that Lexus crap out of my thread. The only LS worth buying is in my parking spot.

But since I can never resist an opportunity to highlight LexoFail, I'll post this:"Hey, wanna see my V8? Too bad!"

What a waste of plastic in a poor attempt to 'pretty' something up to appeal to the upper crust market. Most owners of luxury sedan's will never even see the underside of the hood anyway much less care what it looks like. I've never been a fan of Toyota/Lexus/Scion, I've never owned one, and I never will. Lexus = Toyota = Fail

The Toyotas in my family have been the most reliable vehicles we've ever had. I'd have no problem buying another one if it fit my needs.

Dang Nala, pretty ballsy for you to post a ginormous Lexus picture on MOD's thread.
