Ladies and gentlemen, take note: THIS is what a sedan is supposed to look like. Look at that profile. Look at that nose! You see that? There's sheetmetal between the front door and the front wheel arch! Look at that wheelbase, it's insane. And the length of the doors. And LOOK! NO BANGLE BUTT. NO BANGLE BUTT! I COULD SING!

Sorry Audi A8...I think I might have to cheat on you a little.

I definitely agree about the hoods. This one's not bad, though...not like the G or Maxima.

I think the tail lights are perfect. SOLID RED. No white, no chrome. Just red. And a decent shape, too. And no "industrial reflector strip" across the trunk this time around.

Not a fan of the nose. Too squared off for my taste, and of course the ugly-arse wheel arches that are ubiquitous these days.

But the rest of the lines are very nice.

What is that black dot at the 2:00 position on the front wheel arch? Film flaw? Bullet hole?

It's too high for a curb feeler.

Probably some sort of lane departure warning sensor or something like that.

I actually liked the revised E65, even though the car itself was junk.

Yeah, I liked it for the most part, too. But after the outstanding E38, it was extremely underwhelming. This one has a much sleeker, longer profile that I prefer to see on all cars, but especially big cars.

Am I the only one who gets the impression that the Europeans won't rest until we have a car that drives itself, the Japanese won't rest until we have a car that tells us how to drive, and the Americans won't rest until we don't MAKE any more cars?

I think you have the Europeans and Japanese mixed up. Lexus are the ones that made the self-parking car, and Infiniti pioneered the lane-departure warning and -prevention systems.

But wasn't Citroen the company that built the self-driving car, using sensors and radio beacons?

(Sorry, i didn't mean to jack the thread -- I'll delete this stuff if you'd like me to do so.)

No problem with the thread jack.

I'm not sure about the Citroen...never heard of it before as far as I can remember.

Weird. Google is failing me, but I know I saw a documentary on this technology about 10 years ago, and the pilot vehicle was a Citroen.

That said, GM and VW both have self-driving technology (a next level to the Citroen C3 "Stop-N-Start") that have been in the works for at least three years. GMs platform is called Traffic Assist and was going to be deployed commercially on the 2008 Opel Vecra. No idea if it ever was (but again, it was German design).

Is Chris Bangle no long the Design Chief at BMW? I recall a lot of hype when he first made his apperance at BMW.

I must say, I do like the look of this 7 series so far. I'll have to see it in person before I can make a concrete decision though. Hopefully this edition is still as wide as its predecessor (fat azzez rule)!

Hyundai Genesis anyone. BMW better come bigger stronger and faster next time. I think Hyundai has there number. BMW gave us the same ole 7 series from the last 6years.

The Genesis is nowhere near as big as the 7. Also, the Genesis is a nice car, but it's no performance car and no driver's car. Hyundai has MB and Lexus' numbers. BMW is quite safe.

The Genesis is a good looking car, too, though.

Roof line to the bumper kinda reminds me of the 1981 Chrysler imperial or Cadillac Seville. Drops from roof to bumper with a box stuck on the back.

The Maxima is a beautiful car but the 7 i dont like the new body... The older body is way nicer than the new one.
