come one mendi... you can't tell me that you're not disappointed... I kow I am... if you read through my posts.. my main complaint has been the projected horsepower/torque numbers, and my belief that they will NOT be able to keep the weight down (but I gave Toyota and Subaru their props regarding making good cars because they deserve it.. and if they wanted to, I knew they could make a real performance car (just not with those crappy numbers .... but now we find out that they have dropped the HP even more????

this was Toyota's chance to finally leave the 90's and move into the 21st century... and they've done just the opposite... looks like they are blowing a huge opporunity to make a great performance car and it sucked because I think it had the opportunity to be a better seller than the Genesis... what a shame
it's all rumors for now, and I'm still excited for this ! lol. No way they will make it 160hp. maybe a low end japanese model like I said, to comply with the 2.0L displacement rule they have (for lower taxes) like they did for the current STI in japan. But 160hp rwd coupe here would be useless. we already have the miata that is more than brilliant and with it's low weight, hardtop convertible and more power.

I wouldn't be to quick to jump to conclusions, but its makes the wait that much more exciting lol! you know it doc, before I bet you didn't give a rats a** about this car, but now, like me I bet you eagerly wait for the reveals at this years tokyo auto show.

only 3 month till then!

Isn't this always the case?

this is the perfomance car we've all been waiting for...

I won't even say I told you so... Ill just say that this car... performance wise = FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you even read the full article before you spewed that out??
7tune wrote:Toyota/Subaru haven’t let this dilute the performance as we’re told the car has also lost some weight in order to keep a respectable power to weight ratio. We’re not told how much weight was trimmed or even how much the revised car now weighs in total, but it’s apparent both Toyota and Subaru are under increasing pressure to produce a car that can be marketed as an “eco car” in Japan.
I don't understand why you are still trying to argue about how this car is going to perform even when there are NO concrete number regarding weight or engine output. Also, there are other sources, like the Torque Report, speculating in response to the 7Tune article that the 160hp 2.0 boxer will be for JDM whereas USDM will get the current 2.5 boxer based on the fact that USDM does not have the same emissions regulations and the USDM has not gotten that 2.0 from subie in a long time.

i agree, it's all rumors.. still, I become less and less impressed with everything I hear about this car...

I doubt this is true... watch this...

"i think sentient by design is a douche" ...

now, your post only gains credibility if all of your former NICO A/C allies respond to my post and say... "hey, now that the Dr. brings it up, Sentient is a douche"... lol.... I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid

Yes I read the full article, and i don't give a rat's a$$ if the weight ends up being 2300lbs, there's only so much performance you're going to get out of a non turbo vehicle with 160hp at the crank, and maybe 145hp at the wheels.... what, are they gonna make an all fiberglass 2000lb car? doubt it...

you can continue to hold your breath for the next year or so until this thing comes out... I have far more important stuff to do with my time... like rearrange my sock drawer... everything is speculation at this point... all the false reports, false renderings... its all speculation... and honestly I could care less, this car is not in my radar at all...

you guys keep holding your breath hoping that this car isn't an iutter fail... I'll hold my breath for the FT-HS.... and we'll see who is smiling in the end

Robert, you should be flattered. The saying is "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"

Actually, I wanted to pick your brain about your profession when you get a chance. Not like you have tons of time, but shoot me an email or text or phone call if you get the chance.

I was about to lol, didn't check my autoblogz yet

love the profile, looks like a mini gt-r.

also the car overall is great. prototypes are always 90% accurate and I'm thinking that the production one with less prototypish headlights and and wheels will look awesome.

the interior is crazy, crazy in a "WOW AWESOME" way lol. I feel that we have a winner in our here. keep the weight down and it'll be AWESOME.

it's a next gen 2.0l turbo direct injection subaru boxer engine so that with a flash should give substantial results. (more than 300hp)

win win win

This is the body/frame of the FT-HS .. NOt the original car you guys were in love with until they stated it was gonna have 160hp... looks like they may have scrapped the idea of the Hybrid FT-HS, and merged that frame/body style with this subaru engine... I was in love with the FT-HS, so i definitely like the looks of this.... performance will be another issue, but they are talking about 146hp???? PHUCK THAT, I don't care if this thing weigh in at the size of the S2000, why can you do with a 146 HP engine????

yes, I'm sure you could...my old car was a 1.6 L Nissan 200sx, and I saw someone put 234 hp to the front wheels on that car... but from the factory, who here is actually gonna buy a car with 146 hp, probably putting down 130hp at the wheels... i couldn't do it...

ok, so I see that the sale price is gonna be in the mid 20's... that makes this a much better prospect... I personally would HATE to deal with aftermarket turbo setups, so i wouldn't get this... but at 20-24K, this isn;t a bad car... but with 146hp, I wouldn't get it...

Admittedly, there'd be an initial shock from dropping from the 3.5 to the FT-86, but, depending on how it actually turns out in production, I might be willing to do it.
